Americans say health care affordability, along with inflation, are among their top concerns going into the upcoming election. And the majority of Americans with hospital debt have insurance - the benefit that is supposed to protect them. Concierge medicine continues to grow, making care expensive and unattainable for most people. The verdict is in: this system is broken. So how do we fix it?

Said it many times, will say it again: Europe has been the superior place to live since around 200, or let's make it 9/11. Healthcare is one element of that, but there's also free college, no guns, sane politicians, no extremist Christians, less institutionalized racism, public transport and high speed trains that actually exist, much higher food and environmental safety standards, generally much healthier lifestyle, and so on. Any American parent who does not send their child to Europe for college is a horrific parent.

I grew up in Europe. The healthcare system and colleges are not free. You pay for it through extreme taxation. Switzerland has lots of guns, yet almost no gun violence. I would much rather have extreme Christians than extreme Muslims (of which there are plenty in Europe now.) That being said, I like that there are more places to walk here. Public transport is very overrated. It is slower than using an electric scooter.

@@jimj2683 The US states with the highest quality of life approach the same level of taxation between federal and state taxes, and you get so much less for your money. Switzerland is the only country with a substantial amount of firearms in private hands, and yes, almost no gun violence. That is quality of life. In the US you are one road rage incident away from being shot in the face. So what influence do extremist Muslims have in Europe? Do they take away women's right to choose? Do they harass and assault people at abortion clinics? Do they indoctrinate their followers to vote for abysmal politicians? Do Muslim billionaires buy influence in politics? Heck no, I'll take a few ten thousand extremist Muslims over the situation in the US, where the country is basically controlled by radicals. Electric scooters do cost resources, are accident and vandalism prone, and an eye-sore. They also don't scale - image a train full of commuters all using individual e-scooters. They would clog up bike lanes, then streets. Public transport is the way to go.
