It’s 2023 and it seems like chicken eggs have become as exclusive as caviar. Here’s the tell-tale sign: you know a grocery item has become a hot commodity when Slickdealers start posting about them.
And post they have. A recent frontpage deal for a $3 dozen prompted us to see what’s really behind the explosion of egg prices, and see where we could find the most affordable eggs in LA. This is a look into the egg shortage

I have 4 chickens and they've been producing really well. There's 4 of us in the family and the eggs we get is more than enough. Of course there's the cost of feeding and I haven't worked out the math but shortage is not affecting us.

Farmers can use some of the billions in subsidies they get from the Federal government to develop newer Avian flu vaccines if big pharma won't do it. Otherwise, poultry farming is finished. The cost of fuel and feed is set by the insanely high energy and food conglomerate 'pricing', hence the double-digit inflation. As better biotech and greener energy scales, we'll see a drop in the price of eggs. Until then, I'll be looking at Slickdeals.

Greener energy? Green energy is expensive. You want cheap, safe, green energy... The answer is nuclear. The green group refuses to acknowledge that though.
