My school's counselor had asked us our opinion about conducting a sex education class around last week. We did have a session that ran along the lines of sex education years ago, but it was merely about periods and strictly for females. When the counselor asked us that, all of us agreed in unison, and even expressed our concerns about how India's stigma towards sex, gender, identity and orientation was affecting the generation. India act's like sex is non existent yet is also the second most highly populated country. If that's not ironic, I don't know what is. Edit: We FINALLY GOT A PROPER SEX EDUCATION SESSION. And, it was amazing. The person who came to discuss it was one of the best speakers i have ever witnessed. She was open and discussed both female and male problems. To top it off, there was even a LGBTQ mention.

Sex education is perhaps one of the most important subjects we need right now. A lot of people don't quite understand the concept of consent, which leads to increased sexual violence and victim-blaming from even "educated" people. I wish I had sex education when I was in school. Our response to sexual violence is to say no, which is one class a year from perhaps 9th or 10th grade. Consent is so much more than that. I was raped at a very young age and underwent sexual harassment, but I kept rejecting the idea for quite some time, giving a few of them the benefit of the doubt. Marital rape is not criminalized because a lot of people fail to understand consent. Also, sex education needs to include ideas of gender and sexualities so that there is inclusion as well as a better understanding of ourselves and others.

@Diganta Both are important issues. We need to criminalise both. Just don't bring it when people are talking about one issue saying what about this... It happens a lot. When women are talking about rape and abuse, people comment men too are abused and raped. We know. And we think that is also as important on an individual level. But it is not a weapon to put down others experiences.

@Diganta Yes, rape is rape irrespective of gender. I didn't say I don't want gender sensitive rape laws. I support it very passionately but one person's trauma is not to put down others is what I said. As for why it's not criminalized, unfortunately I don't control the government or the SC. Marital rape should be criminalized. Rape laws should be gender sensitive. Both are important issues. Don't compare.

I'm all for sex-ed. I didn't have sex-ed in school which made me rely on google university, which landed me on pornographic sites which is the worst way to learn about sex. Including it in the curriculum will make both sexes understand their counterparts so well and will have a positive rippling effect on society. But, at the same time, some people romanticise teen sex and teen pregnancies and this needs to stop.

Her mom arrived next day, she was taken to hospital and not only this the most horrible thing her mom did was, she was tested for pregnancy. Her mom made a huge fuss in the hostel as well as in hospital. her mom screamed in front of everyone in the mess "We are Brahmins, you are destroying our culture", even the warden was also scolded. My roommate had no such problems and she was back to normal after few days. I literally got shivers, how important is this education.

there's a boy of around 10 years old and he's my neighbour. we ( my parents) were like discussing about his future like what he wanna be and all. he said that as I am not good in studies , I'll be an employee in company and then I'll marry a girl and impose all my future dreams in that kid. then we said, what if your spouse will not marry with you as you are not good in studies, he said - " I'll just marry ad have kids from her and then leave her ". the way he see a female was disturbing . and through internet the things which he is learning and assuming is I don't know but seems wrong to me. this is one of the reason why "sex education" is important in schools as well as parents to teach about at right time. cause all we know how kids in school learn and make things taboo.

But, the woman will never leave the man she married because she needs his money to survive.. The wife can leave her husband's house any time she wants even without getting divorce. She needs to get divorce only if she wants to remarry... the Husband is not preventing her from leaving his house. the Husband will be very happy if the wife who does not love him leaves his house and gives him peace of mind.. But, what usually happens is that, even if the man requests the woman to leave his house, so that he can live in peace in his own house that he has bought with his own money, the woman refuses to go away. Usually the woman refuses to leave the man's house and she continues to irritate the man in his own house . If the woman had left his house, when he had asked him to go away, there would not have been any problem. Even if the husband asks his wife to leave his house, she will never go away. Wife has all freedom to leave her husband's house and go and live wherever she likes. Then why does the wife refuse to leave her husband's house. It is because she is not doing any work and not earning any money. In India, 79% women are unemployed and so she wants the money of her husband, even though she does not like him and so she refuses to divorce him or leave his house. She knows that if she leaves the man's house , she will have to do any work she gets, earn her own money, take house for rent or buy her own house and live on her own... So, what happens is that even though the woman does not like her husband, she likes the free money, free food and free shelter she is getting from him, and so she does not want to lose her free ATM, and so she refuses to leave his house or divorce him even if he asks her to leave, and continues to abuse him and complain about him. And the poor husband is trapped because he cannot leave his own house. Man cannot unilaterally divorce his wife if she is not agreeing to mutual divorce.. So, the wife refuses to divorce her husband or leave his house, even though she does not like him, because she needs his money. I know many men who are trapped like this in his own house.

It's ironic how a lot of people think not talking about 'gandi cheezein' will make them go away when they're an inherent part of human experience. Sex & sexuality are human experiences that everyone experiences. Being educated about it gives a person the power to rationalise & choose, while the lack of it subjects a person to unhealthy & violent practices. With time people are getting more comfortable talking about it with their peers, however most adults with much more knowledge & experience create an unhealthy atmosphere when asked. This is plain irresponsible.

Sex portrayed in the media is also a big factor is determining sex as a basic practice way of life. Content with sexual theme is marketed with ooziness to increase the eyeballs watching it. At the same time, among society people differentiates among people who watch 'that' kind of content as low level people. And people who do not watch that content are considered intellectualsand high class. For example: B- grade movies were generally considered to be watched by labour class people. But some of the shows from Ekta kapoor productions has thinned that gap. These shows also have the target market of tier-4 and tier-5 towns.

The reason why sex became a taboo in modern India was because Indian nationalist movement idealised celibate leaders & celibacy as the most gracious virtue. Individualism was associated with selfishness and positive expression of carnal desires were associated with potential chances of love-marriages(primarily inter-community marriages) , pollution of caste and corruption of women.

Sex education is SO important. I don't understand the constriction. I also hate how binary and heteronormative sex education is. In the US, we have health class in high school that just discusses safe sex for straight people because they don't want to go into talking about protection and equipment required to have safe homosexual sex. They do go over some important topics like consent, sexual violence, and toxic relationships but gay sex is still unchartered territory. I think it's because it opens a whole new topic about oral sex and anal sex which no one wants to talk about for some reason. So people who are exploring their sexuality or newly identify as LGBT don't know how to prioritize their safety during homosexual sex. We have to figure that out ourselves through experience and google and stuff. Another thing is that they don't discuss sexuality, gender identity, and gender expression. This needs to be discussed because questioning young adults and teenagers need resources and access to understand their sexuality (not to mention so that they understand that it's NORMAL to feel same-sex attraction). Additionally, straight people need it too so that they can better understand how to support and react to it. Also, in case they realize later in their life that they aren't straight anymore.

the britishers were narrow minded… Hindu culture at its peak gave knowledge about Kamasutra…. (Ironically)wellknown in the West rather than in our own countryso there were two section. 1. how to enjoy sex and create healthy humans. 2. for those who chose to be celibate for spiritual life to dicover better things….( not all were born to procreate life ). Presently indians hesitate to discuss is mainly because of how it is portrayed in our society.Women were objectified and sexually exploited during islamic invasions… after which over period of time things for women became discreet .. like ghoonghat( viel) came into existence for protection from kabeelavala community . So thats the psyche(1400 years of prolonged oppression )behind even present hesitation to discuss it. Imagine a community of women who are covered head to toe in the name of religion… they don’t even think they are oppressed ..ultimate level of brain washing..

@@BabaThanos That I understand tbh. They claim to be a feminist channel, not a news channel after all. They aren't obliged to cover every going on in the country, no matter how momentous. My problem with this video is that the Brahmachari angle was force fitted. Not every Hindu man was expected or encouraged to be one. Swaddle has simply force fitted the Brahmachari angle here, claiming that Hindu nationalism is somehow is a reason for why we don't have sex education lmao. This is simply misleading and slander for the sake of slander. It's subtle, sure, but it makes me angry how Hindu nationalism is blamed for every damn social evil in Indian society. And of course, the presenter had to be a Bengali, and cite Jadavpur University unironically 😭 I don't understand what the fuck is happening in that state 💀
@saumyayaya7351
@saumyayaya7351 2 жыл бұрын
Honestly, I get the feminist angle. What I can't wrap my head around is the very subtle messaging that only and only Hindus are capable of being misogynists. Like, take a look at what happens to many Iranian women if they refuse to wear hijab/naqaab. Or how Sharia based societies justify some very horrific crimes against women. I'm not talking about Middle East or Pakistan btw, take a look at our own Kashmir. Ridiculous how feminism has been reduced to a Hindu-bashing movement. It's meant to be more than that, surely. This is what constant invasions and a lack of cohesive unity do to a society, I guess. Elites end up ridiculing all things indigenous. 🤡

I to had sex education at my school time where I was in a boys school.1 day class but is it more than enough to learn with,and still don't u guys got that education.when finalizing the statement,sex is inevitable part in life so just do it with life partner,thts more appropriate.Or if it not so the argument not gonna end through over our entire life just because India is a land of diversity and the culture were broughted up from that diversity.if sex becoms common factor in common life, it leads to racism and ruins several life's of upcoming generations.So make it banned is the proper education in India.

@@qurratulaineproteety4321 ... example 1... Misconceived equality.. The Norwegian Association for Women’s Rights (NKF) considers female conscription ( compulsory military service for women ) as a misunderstanding of the concept of gender equality and the intentions of the Law on Equality. Gender equality implies first and foremost that women and men should have the same human rights and fundamental freedoms. But, women need not suffer as equally as men or face hardship as equally as men. That is not equality.. Equality for women is only equal rights and benefits, but not equal responsibilities , not equal hardship, equal risk of death, or equal difficulty.. Women want only equal rights, not equal responsibilities as men.. In Norway, men already have to do compulsory military service. But, government is planning to make it compulsory for women also.. Among the feminist organizations protesting against female conscription ( compulsory military service for women) were the Norwegian Association for Women’s Rights (Norsk Kvinnesaksforening, NKF, the Norwegian Section of the International Alliance of Women, IAW) and the Norwegian Section of Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom, WILPF... The Norwegian Ministry of Defence has for a long time been determined to recruit women. In 2004, Parliament set a goal of 15 percent women in the armed forces and 25 percent in the officer candidate schools by 2008. To achieve this, women were called up by the draft board to do voluntary military service. If voluntariness did not produce the desired results, the Minister of Defence would propose compulsory military service for women... But, feminists are against this made compulsory for women, although it is already compulsory for men.. NKF strongly warns against the exertion of pressure to get women into the military and particularly the introduction of female conscription... b

@@qurratulaineproteety4321 ... 2.. In South Korea, compulsory military service for women becomes gender battleground.. A heated debate in South Korea about mandatory military service for women is inflaming divisions between the sexes rather than narrowing social gaps, the country’s gender equality minister said. The issue has been the subject of wide discussion since April, when ruling party lawmaker and 2022 presidential hopeful Park Yong-jin reacted to local election defeats by suggesting mandatory military service for women would promote gender equality. Chung Young-ai, who leads the Gender Equality and Family Ministry, on Monday said the direction of the argument was “problematic”. “The debate on women serving in the military didn’t come from trying to achieve gender equality, but from voices who are asking women to experience the same disadvantages that men did,” she said.. That is women want equal rights as men. But, women do not want the difficulties that men have to face. That is the feminist version of equality. A 2022 presidential hopeful suggested mandatory military service for women would promote gender equality amid low birth rates. But the gender equality minister said the environment for serving in the military needs to be improved as a petition demanding female conscription gains steam.... b
