O' he didn't mention that if you have a country where all infrastructure was constanly in decay for 18 years straight because of his party, and the country is on the brink of collaps, how would you bring it back??? He is speaking on one entity Education, which was damage from the 1970'S. Jamaica problems is by far more complex than Carford solution, only a simple mind would think he is making sense! A country with 147% debt to GDP? That alone will tell you that, before anything improve, you will have to cut the debt and grow the GDP! Nothing will be happening in that economy, before those two thing are address and bearing fruits. It would take too long to explain the rest, but just check what this Government were doing since 2016, and as the Financial Times Stated Jamaica rebound is an example for the World. Jamaica Education will improve as more fund become available and time allow for the changes to take effect. It took about 40 years for the education system to be degraded to where it is; it won't be solve overnight. Jamaica media is the only media that allow person to come on a program and just speak without questioning the logic of what they're saying, in relation to the circumstances!!!

RUBBISH!!..... Jamaica's education system has SYSTEMIC FAILURE all over! The system has been a failure from INCEPTION! Go and read the following: 1.The MOYNE COMMISSION REPORT 2.The Dr.Rae Davies Report (1994) 3.The Orlando Patterson Report (2022) 4.A book entitled: INSIDE JAMAICAN SCHOOLS (Hyacinth Evans) 5.Books and Publications written by Professor Errol Miller 6.Articles written by Peter Espuet Students lack of interest is a minor part of the problem....and one of the main reasons for students lack of interest is POOR PARENTING and part of the FAILURE of the system itself!

Jamaica's education system has REAL SYSTEMIC FAILURES!! Go and read the SCORES of REPORTS over DECADES! A system that promotes students from grade to grade and from school to school without the student mastering what should happen before IS A FAILED SYSTEM!! Students and parents lack of interest is a small part of the problem....but if you study the system properly it's EASY to SEE it's a FAILED SYSTEM....set up by SLAVE MASTERS and our so-called political leaders have done very little to change it.... largely because they DON'T WANT to!!

@@wayneanthony1089 self accountability comes before any outside systems. There's no way I would have a teenage son that can't read in my house and I don't know it. Most of these children don't even have a father in the house. We can't get any real changes by waiting for someone outside of our house to fix things first. A community of responsible people will demand better politicians and schools but there's no community without families.

My son was attending Rusea's high.. Total regret.. A brilliant student in primary school... After the covid outbreak they wanted to move him to nine grade i said he didn't attend 8 repeat him.. they said they wanted the space so they couldn't repeat him... They put him in 9 which he wasn't ready for he passed pep early..so he is 16 in 11 grade and has been failing from 9 grade and the school has been sweeping it under the rug.. I withdrew him and have him at home learning trade.. these teachers have no patience nor creativity of developing students... They are not teaching what was taught to them in college... I am an early childhood educator and all student must learn not in the same way nor on the same day... but they will..

They move from one form to the next without being able to read because of flaws in the education system. Some children would have fail early childhood but still went on to grade 1. Even thought the child does not possesses the necessary skills to succeed in the first grade. Also what I know is that some teachers help the students to pass the national exams that they know some students would never would have pass because they were not performing at that level. They also need to screen students to fine out if the child can learn in the regular classrooms. Students have learning disabilities that would prevent them from learning with the typical students.

I am hearing this for the first time but what the opposition minister is saying makes a whole lot of sense. The road encourages the masses to vote; not a new school. I believe the government could save some funds by using renewable energy. Example: solar power in our public/government institutions we could save billions of dollars annually. The private sector could look into this venture as well.

I agree with Damion especially with training teachers, they really need!!! Training. I failed maths years ago and I recently at adult age have been trying to acquire this to improve my education. Can I tell you the lack of enthusiasm from the teachers has a very high part to do with it. Some of these teachers need to stop projecting their personal lives on children. Plus, if telling children...if they fail the teachers will still be getting paid a tactics. It's a stupid one, so tell me if a teacher lack interest, and constantly making that known why would these kids have interest. Remember children learn what they see. Alot of jamaicas good teacher have left because of the pay. And its showing. 😢

The focus of the classroom in Jamaica now is not imparting knowledge or teaching principles. It has shifted to competency. You CANNOT focus on competency if the knowledge you need to apply has not been taught. I did a Heart training last year and was grossly disappointed. The requirement for the course was a diploma from any area. The expectation was that the knowledge needed would have been taught. This was far from the case. Their were participants who had no clue what the course was truly about. The course was assessed by group work so people have now been certified as competent because a person or two from their group did the work. How do we get better as a society their is no effective quality assurance in our education and training system?

Yes 🙌 he had some solid points and they would work well, but sometimes logically speaking less means more…more technology in my opinion will not fix the education system look at the USA they have all the tech and support they need yet their education system is lagging behind ours. You as an individual must have the drive to improve or else you will fail irregardless of the support you have at home or not. I hardly had any support educationally growing up and I pushed myself through school and got all my subjects I took anyway including the one I feared like everyone else mathematics ( but with a mindset to not fail). I was able to pass by putting in the necessary effort needed to do so. Also we must change and update our curriculum because some of what we are being thought is old and obsolete and is not being used currently in the modern era.
