No major issues with the selections (Italy aside), although I really feel for those athletes left out. I do think the appeals process needs a rethink though. I don't think that a panel which has demonstrated bias and hasn't followed selection criteria should be the same panel that is used after a successful appeal. It should be a new panel of selectors.

Don't have an issue with Waugh being selected over Coldwell, however don't call Cagliari a "priority" race if you aren't going to use it, very poor from BTF. That's just going to get peoples backs up. If it was a case of the best athletes get picked based on form over the last year, then there wouldn't have been any complaints or appeals.

Sophie very right to feel hard done by with the decision, seems like the same race that put GTB in the team should was not given the same weighting if it left Sophie out. Either way they need to make the selection process much more transparent as it's a horrible situation to put anyone in!

For how long the water quality was not good enough now? And then they think that it suddenly is ok in July instead of working on a plan B swim location? The athletes trained years for this, I hope they can have the planned competitions

Why isn’t there more discussion about the Mont Tremblant swim? Conditions went from bad to worse halfway through the age group swim start, creating a scary situation for those in the water. The rescue boats were overwhelmed, and about a third of the swimmers weren’t even allowed to start. This effectively turned the race into a bike-run event.

If I was going to Paris id be tempted to add it a bit more duathlon specific training to my program in the build up. Even with all their efforts the swim being cancelled would surprise no-one!

Tri-spy Last week: Should he or shouldn't he be disqualified? Sam Long did not wear an athlete's armband during the race in St George. Every athlete is supposed to wear one. He was even asked about it at registration because he had not worn it at the last races there.

How does strong flow not help water quality? You'd prefer it to be stagnant? Water cleanliness is proportional to water flow / crap input. Increase the numerator, decrease the denominator.

Because heavy rain and more flow over surfaces means more crap is washed from surfaces into the river.

High volumes of water overwhelm the treatment systems, so untreated water overflows into the river. As I understand it, the solution has been to build large underground storages to hold excess water until it can be treated, rather than it overflowing untreated into the river. But I'm not sure if the works have been fully commissioned yet?
