Thank you for your input. This is something I didn’t think about when I decide to move to Nova.

Because it’s too expensive. Like really it is.

The population of Fairfax County is only declining by -0.36% which is almost nothing compared to places like Baltimore, Roanoke and Tazewell County. So, it's not really a right thing to say "Why Are SO Many People Leaving Fairfax County Virginia" when its declining by a very small percentage.

I grew in fairfax County and been gone since 2000. I wouldn't move back there. Tampa Bay Area is great and is growing like crazy and big tech is moving in.

So i live in southern springfield and there is gang activity in my area and i always here ppl say that springfield has no gang activity which is true but there r still some parts.

Reasons why I left: 1. Cost of Living:: Wanted to live closer to the urban center to experience city living more. $ to do that was unreasonable. 2. Tax benefits. 0% state income tax, and low property tax on vehicles, only paid during the sale vs. VA 5.75% income tax. Annual property tax on cars 4.57% of the assessed value per year (Highest in the country). 3. Traffic: Atrocious and will hit you any time of day or night. Rush hour is incredibly long (impossible to time). There are a ton of suburbs and it's not as dense as you would expect, unless you live in the very expensive Arlington or nice parts Alexandria. You need a car and have to drive 7-10 miles for practically every task excluding work commutes. Never ending highway construction also messes things up. 4. Weather: Winters are not terrible but certainly improve as you go south in Southern VA, NC, TN, GA. Humidity in the summers is terrible relative to states a little further west. 5. Politics/People: Covid really brought the worst out of people. Early on was acceptable fear, but they lost their minds. Same with Trump in office. This is a city where people have very strong political opinions and politics are often a hot topic of conversation. DC tends to attract these people from other parts of the country who are very passionate about politics. Where I live now politics never come up and the city still leans democrat. It's also common to see people rank you on status, how much you make, and how good your profession is. 6. Family left the area: Other than some friends who were super scattered across NOVA, I really didn't have anything holding me back. 7. Change of scenery: I was able to find a city that allowed me to live the lifestyle I was looking for, where my quality of life improved. NOVA is a great place for the highly educated to raise a family, or advance their career. Incredibly low crime, excellent public schools, and plenty of opportunity. There are way too many suburbs, and not enough creative people. Strip malls galore. There are hardly any artists, musicians, or fun business concepts to immerse yourself in. All the fun is in DC but it's a pain to get there and won't be frequented from 20+ miles out.

Nova is shit now. Grew up her since the 80s. Drivers suck, entitlement is rampant here as well now, to much of a mixing bowl, can’t go to the grocery store in peace. Never thought I’d want to leave the place I was born and raised in. I am very excited to leave this this place I will Never return
