That convo with Fumes there, I think that's an example of getting too good at answering the question specifically. When you start getting too specific and treating closed questions as yes or no and open questions with as little info as possible, you get this. It prevents oversharing which is great for looking tough, and avoiding getting roasted or snitching on yourself. However when too many of your convos are like this, then you kinda forget how to be interact normally. Social skills like any other skill need practice or they get rusty.

You perfectly described me, I went to therapy as a kid because another psychiatrist told my family that they believed I had depression at 9 years old. I have a lot of ptsd from police or the opps, trust issues because a longtime friend I’ve known from the age of 7. So I never really spoke to people because I didn’t trust them, some buyers did socialise with me, I think they know what the roads do to a person’s mental health and are trying to help. When I smoke weed I’m more social but get more easily paranoid and still won’t tell people things, but I still speak to them I just won’t answer anything that is sensitive to me. When I don’t smoke for a day then I start really reflecting on my life, how horrible it was and how horrible it now is and in the future, but I don’t know anything other than the roads. I’ve tried a normal job but I earned next to nothing and was let go without warning, I’ve tried to get other jobs but none of them have ever called back. I’m thinking that this is it, this is how my life is going to be. I really want help but I’ve got no one to ask, I don’t want to go to a therapist because the one I had to go to was horrible and always jumping to assumptions/conclusions, after some time I was given a male therapist who was way better, I was even in the psychward because they wanted to run tests on me, but when I was in there I was a whole different person, a “normal” person I would say, because I actually got fed there and it wasn’t the same toxic environment I’m familiar with where I feel anxious and depressed because of how horrible it is, they still didn’t diagnose anything, now years have passed and it’s only gotten worse. I don’t see an escape from the road life, I wish I was a normal kid from a normal home.

If I could get a normal job with reasonable pay then I think I would try to leave the roads, we’ve all see what has happened to some roadmen who jump off road, such as kobi from NPK. I just have to hope that things will get better and things will change even though I know they won’t because there’s no one to help me. My brother has tried to help me by telling me to learn programming as then he could refer me to some entry level job but I just don’t have the time to do that, I would have to choose between the roads or learning something, the roads pay for my food and roof, if I stop to learn something like programming then I can’t pay for my living expenses.

Useful video! It gavel me more understanding on people in UK in general why they're so introverted but not everyone is the same of course. I've been in UK for 11 years but I've spent some time in US too and the "roadmen" (street cats) or any other people in generally they are more talkative and chilled, they want to socialize more. And doesn't matter where you coming from if they see that you are cold or something mutual between y'all like the subculture, the way you speak or could be anything.. Then they want to be tight with you. That's just another perspective but I appreciate you for making this video bro it's dope! Subscribed ✊️ ✌️ Salute!

Think you hit the nail on the head by saying about PTSD. I'm not gonna claim to be a gangster or nothing but me and my friends went down the wrong path in our younger years - All doing drugs, some selling, getting into stupid situations, seeing people overdose and or get addicted to shit... Some people can deal with it but from my personal experience it really fucked with my mental state. It's been hard adjusting back to a normal lifestyle with some of the shit we been through cos our experiences are not normal and I mean not normal in the sense most people aren't going through it like that so you just find it hard to relate to regular people. I still have paranoia about police from stupid shit I got myself into, I'm talking sirens go off and my heart rate doubles and constantly looking over your shoulder if they nearby even though you know you did nothing wrong. I've since been to and done therapy for my anxiety and it has helped a lot though it isn't a overnight fix and a lot of this stuff I still struggle with on a daily basis but as you said in the video you gotta put yourself out there. And yeah NHS is utterly useless when it comes to mental health care. I been suffering with insomnia for 7 years which also has had a negative impact on my mental health. Seen doctors so many times over the years for Insomnia/anxiety/depression and they just simply don't seem to care it can be real disheartening. I ended up having to pay for a private therapist cos the NHS is an absolute joke be telling me I am too young to have these issues. Invest in your mental health lads it's worth it.

Most people my age just come from broken homes. Growing up doing whatever they can to get by emotionally or physically for example: Lying to avoid consequences when your young builds that bad habit when ur older then they just be lying for no reason even after not being afraid of punishment. But with the anxiety thing I think It could be about ego . Don’t wanna be a laughing stock or not taken seriously, heard when you’ve spoken etc. icl im really interested in this topic too clicked on the vid cause it’s been on my mind recently

Anxiety is a big issue. I had a similar experience and I kinda relate to how these man feel but at the same time, it’s too prang to talk about it openly (for obvious reasons). The anxiety you get from being too into this kinda lifestyle is very strange. Your brain constantly feels, what I call, ‘up and out’ and it makes you feel very irritated, sarcastic and sometimes impulsive. It also makes going to shops difficult too because you will feel like looking for items you can’t find extra difficult and so you look visibly annoyed which can come across as suspicious and antisocial. It’s these little things I noticed that made me feel very uncomfortable and it honestly didn’t feel like a reflection of my own self. It just felt like I was coping in a tough situation. Going on holiday helped, is all I can really say. CBT is also good. Anxiety levels like this can make you feel dumb but it’s not that they’re dumb but rather the anxiety is making you feel constantly, excessively worried and tired and in a feeling of ‘drama’.

@@pxrqhz103 in essence, you get flight or fight thoughts mixed with the street smarts, the lingo and the ‘frame’’. And it becomes very anxiety provoking masked by rudeness and being generally quite judgemental of people in your environment. I started to notice that I was being subtly rude and impatient with little things, casually kissing my teeth, not realising I was being somehow influenced. I started keeping mental tabs on people and so on, and it just became paranoid. Not as glamorise as they rap about it to be. Still don’t know how it happened (like over time) but I’m doing therapy to leave that mentality behind.

Some dissociative kind of thing I reckon. When you're representing you can't show any kind of weakness. Being that bad man thing 24/7 eats at you. I had a pal who was into the game. One time he came to my yard bleeding from a little juke. He'd just robbed some rival crew. A couple of days later he's complaining to me about having difficulty breathing. Tight chest and that. I could tell he was describing to me a panic attack. I've had them myself. I tactfully suggested what it might be, respectfully. But unfortunately he couldn't countenance it because, like I said; any sign of weakness...

I'm kind same, i'm not a roadman, i'm not even form UK, but im super sociall anxious like i'm not scared but im much more aware of the situation around me then regular ppl. I went to high school in the worst part of the city and that school was more of juvenile hall then school. Second day of school some 19y old dude cut my arm with knife because i had long hair, shit like this happen on daily basis, plus area aroud the school was ghetto as fuck. I'm not form ghetto but i get this mindset of beling hyper aware all the time. Weed is super illegal in my country and one silly ass splif can get in jail, so it makes you paranoid all the time if you are out. I'm not a smoker but you know. Seeing all this shit form young age got me this dark vibe, regular ppl can feel this vibe and they often hate you for it, like they make you feel they don't want you in their surroundings. Many say is more of race thing but i don't thing so, on some level maybe but i'm white like pale white with blue eyes and my country is like 99.8% white and ppl still gives me this looks. This shit + Paranoia + PTSD + Depression make you completely alienated from society. Most of those kids/man don't have mental suport in their families, they only have homies with same issiues and those homies very offten are not homies at all. You are outcast living in your own word. You see fucked up shit, you become fucked up, wen you fucked up you do fucked up shit and someone sees that and become fucked up is very hard to brake this circle.

This is true! I turn 30 this year and I get exactly what you’re saying. I don’t do social scenes, parties, clubs etc. Being stuck in the same environment on edge every single day does something to you. I don’t live that lifestyle anymore but still struggle to socialise outside of talking about that life, even though it’s a lot of shit! Ps the end part where you tell them to humanise the addicts they sell to. That shit will fuck your conscious up and turn you to drugs realising why people are at the door for brown or white in the first place!
