The reason the seasons are shorter is because of the streaming contract with HBO they have for new episodes, while their networks parent company now has Paramount us and signed them to 6 new seasons and some specials. They're old contract does not indicate how many episodes are required for a season so they are producing minimal amounts of episodes while producing the specials for Paramount Plus

The only thing about having such short seasons is that we may never reach episode 400 it would be good that if south Park does eventually end it ends on an epic 400 episode

I’ll say since the South Park episodes have got shorter I think the game should be a little bit longer now at least they should have more story in it that’s all I’m trying to say

I mean, they're getting older, and working on other projects as well, opening Casa Bonita, they've been working on pretty big games and their DLCs which are worked on similarly to the shows, meaning it is a ton more work, since they are really long games, and apparently working on a third. They are also making 2 specials/movies a year. So yeah. It's not like we're getting that much less South Park, we're just getting less in the form of TV shows.

I definitely agree that I can't see the show going past season 30. There's only so many concepts to base episodes on. It's frankly amazing that the show has lasted this long, and we will still have a huge treasure trove of episodes to rewatch when the show does come to an end. That being said, it's hard to say anything with certainty.

No matter the reason why the seasons have gotten shorter, this newest season was amazing and really felt like watching when I was a kid

They're flat getting burned out. They have said as much and indicated so through the episodes for years. and considering I'd rather have a shorter season with higher quality than strained episodes on a one week schedual

I’m sure burnout is a factor but you have to also remember that 10 episode seasons became commonplace for EVERY studio and streamer. There’s exceptions sure, but shorter seasons are cheaper to produce and can hold attentions spans a bit better. I’m sure industry trends had more to do with it than Matt and Trey wanting to scale back.

Streaming Wars was only just so good, but the Covid Specials were absolutely special.

I disagree that they're gonna be done with the show soon cause why would they sign a 7 year contract if they were feeling so-so on making new episodes?

One thing I especially hate about Tegridy Farms is the amount of times they troll the audience that they’ll finally get rid of it and leave only to go back on it at the end of each of the episodes. It’s happened like at least five times now.

It can be shorter, they can have specials, or games etc…..but the show has still excelled well beyond ANY other show in its 25th season. Yes it has drifted or not been on fire, but even a bad SP show is leagues above any show like Family Guy or Simpsons now. We still get some gems, we bet cultural markers to say oh man yep this was this time. I won’t be suprised when soon we end the series it’s heading there but for now I enjoy that we get what we get with Trey and Matt both still in charge. It’s a rare feat for any show animation or not. In another 3-4 years when we likely hear they are ending the show we all will be grateful we got a crazy ass show for almost 30 years

The reason they cut down on episodes "per season" is because they sold a certain number of seasons to different streaming services without defining the number of episodes they would put out per season

Southpark is like a fine wine it gets better with age IMO. It went from toilet humour to a more matured toulette humour

I’ll just be honest, you’re getting old was the best episode in the show and if they ended the show there I would’ve been perfectly happy. Yes there have been some great seasons and episodes after season 15, but any finale South Park tries to make if they end will never top the end of You’re Getting Old.

I think it's because the world is becoming more ridiculous and sideways, South Park can't make fun of it because it's actually true.

As long as the quality is there and it still makes me laugh I’m fine with the 6 episodes a season

the latest season was mostly really good. Quality > Quantity. Haven't seen the full vid yet so may come back to edit.

the last episode of the serie could be them going back in time or things evolving backwards and the last scene being the boys taking the bus like in the first episodes, in the simple old style with minimal details that feels less digital and them having a normal and straightfoward conversation, of them being them. but let's hope the last episode doesn't happen,, at least not anytime soon

I don’t know what everyone is talking about because I loved season 20 and they just kept getting better, and Randy is without a doubt my favorite character and hope so much they don’t reduce his role because his antics are the funniest part.

Man, I miss it when South Park seasons had 14 episodes, hopefully they go back to that in the future. it was nice having seven episodes in the spring and seven episodes in the fall. If they go back to doing that, then they would have a lot to talk about.

The "game of thrones" trilogy was actually based on The Lord Of The Rings. The boys characters were all mostly seen already as far back as season six episode thirteen, The Return of the Fellowship of the Ring to the Two Towers.

if you have been watching South Park since the beginning... You can 100% tell something was off with the studio with the making of the episode: "you're getting old" when watching it felt like the writers we extremely stressed out

The last season should be an homage to their humble beginnings. How cool would it be if they animated it by hand and went back to over the top potty humor, crude violence and celebrity bashing.

The only thing I don't like about the short seasons is not the quality, but the fact they cost the same amount to buy as a longer season.

It amuses me seeing Americans surprised by a 6 episode season, when 6 episode seasons have been the norm for British sitcoms since the 70's.

Those guys were burned out 15 years ago. I'm surprised they make any episodes at all anymore.

4:06 really, because Human CentiPad is like my favorite episode and was the episode that actually got me into south park. The first episode I saw was The Tale of Scroty McBooger Balls because I hated Catcher in the Rye and the clips of them dunking on it were exactly what I needed then, but then the rest of the episode didn't exactly click. Human CentiPad on the other hand was great start to end. Back then I was a super hater of apple (mainly because I was surrounded by the iCult at the time where people were obsessed with apple anything purely for the status symbol and not because the tech was actually better), and to see "Steve Jobs is evil and is all hype, Cartman wants an ipad purely for the status symbol and not for functionality, and Gerald is ostracized because he isn't a member of the iCult," that just hit all the notes.

I think the creatorsare just getting older and I don't think we'll get too many more seasons to be honest

I disagree, Randy-centric episodes are excellent and they've been able to utilize his character for satirical takes on current society.. SP is still going strong, hope they never stop

I honestly wish i could go back and watch the entire show for the first time I know it'll end eventually but we still have a while we got specials and idc if the seasons r shorter i'll go and watch those 6 episodes every year when we get them My only wish is that we get more of the core 4 cause there truly the best characters in south park

I would say it would be bold to have the final south park be notban episode or specials but a game . The 3rd to complete the trilogy , it would give us the fans an intimate and participation to the finale , like getting us the viewers not part of the ride but is the ride to the finale of south park. It would be a huge rish but hey 15 to 29 hour down to the 100% would be a nice sendoff and a game would be a perfeft medium to put it all out there all the batshit balls to the walls they got in the game for us to partake .

I was never a South Park fan (because CC was locked behind a paywall and I was 12) but thanks to TT I got into it and HBO Max having the episodes I’ve been able to get into it

I was completely fine with the Randy seasons

They actually tried to do the serbo-jewish-double-blouff, since they had made a contract with HBO for around ten seasons, but tried to release those specials and count each one in as a season, thus making almost a billion dollar for ten specials. Unfortunately it didn't work out and they had to stick to the seasons. Also a reason, why the whole post-covid special was kinda cut short with an ending not really satisfying to say the least.

In the 2010s I remember they had a spring season too.

It because the deal with hbo max and paramount there’s 6 season episodes plus the 2 paramount specials in the summer both specials are considered the last 4 episodes of the season technically making the season 10 episodes it sucks for sure but i can understand making episodes and having to make 14 different specials is alot of work for sure!

the show isn't going anywhere. they signed contracts for a certain number of episodes with hbo and a certain number of specials with paramount plus. and it was what the special streaming wars was about.

The 6 days to air, used to be an impressive boast but now it's just an excuse to reduce the episode count.

Without really watching the video, I can say that it's probably because we're almost at 30 seasons now, and there aren't as many ideas for short stories. As such, by making them shorter, you can still produce the show at a steady pace and not have to worry about having a brain cramp trying to make 20 new episodes

In all honesty, I enjoyed tegridy farms. I did however watch them more straight through rather than weekly. I just like how Randy kept digging his own holes deeper and deeper.

viewership on live tv may be down, but South Park is one of the most popular tv shows on hob max-a platform with 95 million subscribers and tik Tok has partially influenced a massive rediscovery of the show. Viewership is so good paramount was made their own streaming service and ordered more specials. If anything would end South Park it would probably be the lawsuit which will most likely take up lots of their time.

Member when we got many episodes each season? Member when they mostly did tv-shows with 20+ episodes instead of a few each season? Kinda miss when we got ALOT of episodes each seasons of South Park. The longest are season 2 with 18 episodes. Wish they did atleast 1 season with exactly 20. But i understand why they became shorter.

I just hate how half the content each year is now blocked off from people who don't have internet, it's always felt like a brick to the face when shows do that. We're becoming too reliant on internet and sooner or later it may be our downfall when we put *too* much on it
