@Kaptain Kuba I just finished the game, watched your video and now have a question, maybe you still bother to answer? If the dead giants in Jotunheim are from the battle of Ragnarok of the previous timeline, where are the living giants from this timeline (the present timeline we’re playing in)? And in general, why is the whole game world so empty? Where are all the folks and races we keep hearing about throughout the game? Are they all dead? Are Kratos and Atreus some of the last living beings in all worlds?

Here's a thought to ponder: Notice how Faye's handprint is on the tree. I think she may have possessed healing abilities. It could be that by spreading her ashes all of the giants are somehow brought back to life. It would be her ultimate defiance of Odin from beyond the grave. It would also go along with Norse mythology of how Loki leads an army of giants into Ragnarok.

You know, I'm _really_ liking this theory of time relativity and how it relates to Ragnarok, on account that Yggdrasil, the tree that binds all the 9 realms of reality together is the physical manifestation of the spacetime continuum. An argument could easily be made that some realms are closer or further away from the trunk of Yggdrasil. If I remember correctly, the action that sends Jormungandr back in time is that during his and Thor's battle, Yggdrasil itself is broken. The implications here are just * muah *

Hmmm. Faye goes to Midgard right before Ragnarok and knowing that the giants will die, meets Kratos and has a kid with him, Atreus (who is gonna eventually lead the Giants in the future). She maybe knows the exact time correlation between the 2 realms, and as a result, she times her death right after Ragnarok. Kratos then, goes to Jotunheim, spreads the asses so that the Giants may return to life for the Ragnarok in our timeline? We also dont know, why and how Faye did die. That will probably be said and explained in an ''All makes sense now'' moment in the next game?

I'm more intersted in Brok and Sindri's lore At first, they simply looks like some standard videogames shopkeeper. But as story unfold, turns out they played bigger role than that. From the fact that they're the one who create both Mjolnir and Leviathan axe, to their ability to just pop out everywhere (brok even shows up from behind a pillar in helheim, offering an upgrade for kratos blade, ones even kratos himself didn't realize he needed said upgrade) And what especially intrique me is how during kratos and atreus's short journey with Freya, they passed both Sindri's and brok's shop and they're not at their place. Kratos actually was already meant to come to Midgard to be Faye's wife and give birth to Loki and then be killed by Thor so Atreus would taken to Asgard. At first, Ragnarok went as planned. I wonder how time works in Asgard compared to Midgard and the other realms we visited? Consider that Atreus and kratos completed their entire journey, which even if you don’t do everything encapsulates TWO full visits to Helheim. As well as however long kratos was inside the light of alfheim. And to top everything they went to jotunheim for at least a solid 10 minutes. And then they slept for years and only then Thor arrives to kill them. So does time move 10 times slower in Asgard compared to everywhere else?

This is a pretty good theory, one of your best! The implications of the time dilation could be staggering, by your calculations for every day that passes in Jotunheim, 5.5 years pass in Midgard. If Jormangander was knocked into Midgard 250 years ago, that would have only been 6 weeks prior to Kratos and Artreus arriving in Jotunheim. Although there is one obvious flaw, the theory relies on the premise that the Giants died fighting in Jotunheim - I think Occam's Razor is best used in this scenario: the simplest explanation is that most of those who were shown bloodied were actually attacked and mortally wounded in Midgard by Thor, and managed to escape to Jotunheim before succumbing to their injuries. This is consistent with the Jotun sculptures and scripts prior to seeing the mural. Modi's words do have me perplexed, although if he knows Thor is going to die at Ragnorak he could just be boasting about his future inheritance.

I’ve figured it out. Basically, all nine realms run on different clocks; each realm experiences time differently. As a result, Ragnarok happens at different times in each realm. So, the elves get their Ragnarok separately from the giants, and the giants get their Ragnarok separately from Asgard and so on. So, Ragnarok had already happened in Jotunheim, explaining Modi’s comments. It also explains why all the giants are dead. The reason why Odin is so deathly afraid of Ragnarok is because, in Asgard, they’ve already killed the Giants. This leaves Odin scrambling to ensure that there’s no way for Ragnarok to properly commence on Midgard and Asgard. However, Kratos’ arrival in the Norselands broke prophecy. Faye most likely noticed Kratos’ arrival, and left Jotunheim for Midgard in order to change the future. I’m assuming there was something more than just ashes in Faye’s ashes, or maybe even the Leviathan Axe is even more special than it seems. Nonetheless, this time bullshit is wack. However, I wonder how they’re going to explain why Loki’s origin is different? How was Faye able to give birth to him? Perhaps Ragnarok has happened before (outside of this current cycle), and Faye/the giants realized the importance of Loki to the triggering of it? Perhaps the Giants wish to break the cycle of Ragnarok? Perhaps Odin already broke the cycle, and the Giants are attempting to mend it? Perhaps even Loki himself was in on the bargain between Tyr and the Giants? Maybe he WAS this cycle’s Tyr (he is a trickster god, after all). Not to mention there are even inaccuracies in Mimir’s stories, one of them specifically about Frigg. I’m curious to see what play they will take on the mythology of it all.

Remember the climb to Thamur's hammer? There was a puzzle in the game that specifically addresses the concept of temporal magic used by the Vanir, and why they stopped using it. It's a Chekhov's -Gun- DeLorean. We hear over and over about the wolf giants that chase the sun and moon, it's one of the first triptychs encountered, and it's the subject of the main trap in Tyr's Vault, too. Part of the mural in Jotunheim also shows what looks like Atreus with three wolves... My guess is that they represent Skol, Hati, and Fenrir.

@@Knight-Bishop I've always wondered whether or not Ragnarok has happened yet given that the giants are essentially dead. Everything that has been told through the game shows us that Odin is essentially trying to remove a problem before it actually becomes a problem. Ragnarok is Odin's doom, as it will be the destruction of all realms and all things within them. What I find interesting is that, currently if you look at what Odin has been able to do, he has the wolves, he's killed the giants, and there's no way for them to reach Midgard or leave Jotunheim. But it's like Mimir said, Kratos is the unexpected variable in this whole thing. Odin has done all these pre-requisites that would start Ragnarok, yet Baldur still died and now fimblewinter has begun. Personally, it sort of feels like the giants knew that Ragnarok would not start unless they attempted to tip the balance in some form or fashion. To them, they would rather see Ragnarok happen to some degree if it means vengeance against Odin. What I think will be interesting is how this plays out with Kratos. He's out of the vengeance game, so for a long ploy to come up in order to satisfy his wife's final wish would definitely be something to see. I don't know......is this game coming out soon lol?

You got some things wrong that would change the answer. You mentioned that “time moves faster in Jotunheim”. It moves faster in Midgard. Thats why Fimblewinter had seemed to arrive at an accelerated pace. 20 minutes of jotunheim is experienced while possibly a month has gone by in midgard. The likely answer is that jotunheim is still after ragnarok but that its because it was somehow tied to the world serpent. Atreus is the father of the world serpent after all and it was sent back in time to before its birth after clashing with thor. Thats why it appeared in the lake randomly. I suspect that it is somehow entangled with jotunheim as one of the only two giants. So jotunheims future was connected to the present through the world serpent

Spot on, plus Mimir also mentioned that perhaps the world snake had already fought Thor at Ragnarok but got knocked back in time. Mimir also mentioned that the world snake was the last giant which is why they went to it to ask how to get to the realm of the giants. Mimir also mentioned that the world snake spoke a dead language and since the giants had all been gone for a long time and are dead in the future, you notice that indeed the world snake got knocked back in time by Thor during Ragnarok. Mimir also said that the giants were the best at prophecy and we get an Idea as to why with all these timeline variation stuff which the giants did best. During the mission where the dead giant was, Atreus was using old giant time magic to move that platform upwards and Mimir explained that even before the giants left, they had stopped using time magic because it was problematic. I watched the ragnarok trailer and it turns out that TYR, the other one with the special eyes like Mimir was a giant himself despite having all dwarf sons. TYR could travel between the realms which could explain why the giants have a sort of special connection with the world tree and sometimes see the future like in a dream. That means that reality and timelines are pretty much relative to them. Seems to me Atreus mother had a plan to change fate which is why she dragged us all the way to the land of the giants and not just to spread her ashes. I think Atreus will have a big role in Ragnarok to change the future since he's a giant and a god, plus kratos said that that mural at the end was about Atreus Kratos often stated that prophecy and fate were lies of the gods and we see that on that mural at the giants realm where their whole journey had been prophesied and that Kratos would die at Ragnarok. I'm thinking that Kratos will escape fate and shape the future. Also, odin seemed pretty paranoid and freya mentioned that norse gods didn't like strangers so perhaps there's a reason. I read the codex and somewhere in there it said that Atreus thought that maldur or whatever, was traking them down but then realized that he was after his mother that was nothing but ashes. I just finished the game and paid a lot of attention. What you're saying makes sense. That's what I concluded too.

At 3:52(top part of the mural) , you could see Kratos fighting (possibly killing) the World Serpent in a battle, not the the Boss fight dragon dragon where the game lead to Kratos killing it. This is because we see at the time mentioned earlier was Atreus looking at the different side of the walls which was discovered, while Kratos is portrayed with the point of view of looking only up and down. This leads to why it is interesting since Kaptain Kuba mentioned the mural where it is portrayed that Kratos will be killed by Odin(possibly retrieving the Leviathan Axe and another World serpent will be reborn by Loki/Atreus as a part of vengeance or for killing his father, (I believe the matter the clothes depicted by the mural where only Kratos has viewed is non existant) continuing Ragnarok again. This also means that Thor will fight (maybe a reborned or first experience of the World Serpent). Concluding that; *maybe Jörmungandr was killed by Kratos, not Thor, due to the red eyes of the Jörmungandr {possibly cursed} depicted by t at the mural (3:52) *Odin will kill Kratos, gaining acces to the Leviathan Axe *The depiction of Ragnarok shows Thor battling a reborned serpent Or maybe just Loki (depicted by Kaptain Kuba) giving birth to the serpent back in time before Ragnarok first occured

It was confirmed in the game that future events have already happened. Mimir speaks about the fight between the World Serpent and Thor that shook the realms and is why World Serpent is in Midgard. What if Kratos and atreus go back in time during the events of the first game, during fayes funeral right after kratos and atreus went hunting. Faye fakes her own death like how Juliet does in Shakespeare's novel. Now you may be asking what about the ashes or fire, she could use a spell to be fire resistant and well maybe atreus from the future, seeing how he is a god of mischief/tricks, what if he used a similar spell that Freya uses to animate the dead like how she did to mimir and put it over where faye was suppose to be cremated, making kratos from the past think its fayes ashes. Once they release the ashes the giants all get reanimated right after kratos and atreus leave. Could also explain atreus from the future blew the horn to call the world serpent. Also just for extra insanity theory. What if kratos and atreus go way back in time to the event where Kratos accidentally kills his old family, building tension between kratos and atreus later on in the next game .

He would have already had his one eye ripped out, and then he took Mimir's other eye; there is a chance he could have already divined how to get to Jotunheim ahead of the heroes. Mimir seems pretty certain that Odin only had his eye put in Thor's Temple, the one guarding Asgard I think, but there could still be a chance that Odin could have used it BEFORE it got locked away. As there are murals depicting the games journey and the fact Cory has said that Faye had literally marked the way for them, its seems a new prophecy arose AFTER the events of Odin's double crossing and Jotenheim being completely shut off from the other realms (hence why no one other than the giants there would ever find out about it) I reckon Faye lived through or at least left before Ragnarok and went to Midgard as the "gaurdian" of the secret prophecy to make the necessary preparations to bring it into fruition. There's more to it I'm sure but I've literally just come up with this theory

Maybe that’s why Thor shows up at the end...maybe he also got sent in the past(to our timeline) from the Ragnarok battle along with the serpent...and because of this disturbance, Ragnarok already happened in some realms and didn’t in others or something like that...Man oh man! This is getting so confusing😂

I had always assumed those were the dead bodies from the story that Mimir tells of Thor being cloaked and travelling to Jotunheim with Odin and Frejya where he slays all the giants he can before Frejya uses magic to cast them back to Midgard. Made the most logical sense to me at the time.

And about (god of war fallen god) believe me it isnt gonna be aierd cause we're gonna see it in the next god of war game 🌚💔

Hey Kaptain Kuba, Great video. Loving these theories. Here's one for you. What if Kratos is not Farbauti and that they are actually two different characters despite both having married Faye at one point in time? Going off of what you said about Jotunheim being the future timeline. This would make sense for Kratos to not exist in that time line. The murals with kratos/tyre and the snake coming out of his mouth, would not actually kratos but may be Farbauti. Maybe implying that Jormi is actually Farbauti. If Kratos already existed in the future timeline, he would have killed all the gods this is kratos we are talking about afterall. So this would make sense in the perspective that Kratos is the key to changing the fate of ragnarok and that he only exists in the current timeline whereas in other timelines (past/future) farbauti exists instead of him. This would also mean that the atreus we see in the current timeline is not the same as the atreus in the future timeline. Maybe the future timeline Atreus is more closer in personality to the trickster god Loki in this respect. He may be very similar in appearance on the murals, however, the personality wise he may be completely different than atreus. Not having the same sort of rage and instead opting for a more jokeful personality. Thoughts?

Firstly great video, secondly I know what I am going to say is probably not true, but what if Faye cast a very powerful and ancient spell which put the giants into a death like sleep/slumber to make it seem to the Aesir gods like they are actually dead, and the only thing which could "revive" them are the ashes of the woman who cast this spell, aka Faye, like I said this probably is not true but a cool thought

i have a theory about why the giants are dead. No one ever wondered why mimir/ head ever existed, he says he was all arround everywere and met like everyone ( but what is mimir's true purpose ? ) Kratos does not know unlike anyone in the entire game knows or actually talks about the goals of mimir . Who is mimir for real ? and why was he lifebounded to know as much as possible about everyone and everything ?" he even heard about the Ghost of sparta " but is "surprised "when he is dangeling on krato's hip when kratos admits he's the Ghost after a little pretend guessing from mimir . ( there is only 1 marked warrior through all the realms and everyone knows him )... "The fact that he heard about a ghost " does imply to me that mimir does know how to control time and maybe even travel through time to pull strings in events that still needed to happen through the god of war games . ( because everything goes slower in jotenheim in comparison to mid-gard ) how does mimir know such a ghost ever existed if he never shared the same time as kratos ? Mimir i think is a god himself but unspoken off or some unknown god who still has he's part to play before the entire story is over . Now i came to the thought that mimir could be the stick in the fire that caused the giants deaths by certain knowledge about the giants, wich caught Odins attention ( that's why Odin keeps mimir locked up in a tree for eternity ) because of untold knowledge not mentioned through the entire game . The knowlegde of victory over everything (something like that is very valuable and changes everything if you already know everything ), it could change the course of history and present all at the same time . Mimir wanted to be locked up in the tree by Odin even tho he says he didn't want that ( Mimir expects Kratos to show up ) Mimir needed an excuse to actually meet the God killer Himself and this "suddenly" happen to be inside the plan of Athreus he's mother . Athreus he's mother ( Faye ) story ended at the end of the game because " she didn't want" to look further into the future. ( the only thing she wanted was her son to know the truth about himself and the choice she could leave behind for him whenever he decides to be Loki or not ) end of her story . ( ashes are spread ) The real story is still to be told ( this is could be a part of a bigger story ) or is being told by Kratos himself at he's deathbed ( to Athreus ) or someone else ( himself maybe ), but eventually it's the story of the god of war ( Kratos ) never forget that . ( many games could be released before it comes down to that fact ) " i'm overthinking " Mimir knows Freya, knows her son,he knows athreus he's mother ( Faye ), he knows even the goddamn world serpent. ( he must also know about their strengths and weaknesses to ) no matter who it is . mimir knows ! Mimir is a master of disguise through the voice he uses in the entire game( what he does is befriending Kratos and he's son the entire time ) " befriend the one you need for your ultimate goal ", he know how to start conversations to discover things, he knows wich tone or voice to use when speaking to certain creatures or other gods . ( no one could even imagine mimir could be a certain threat especially when he's head is cut off ) not even Kratos himself suspects anything ( kratos believes he's in control by using short words or sentences ) mimir knows how to deal with types like Kratos, Kratos surely isn't the first person in Mimirs life who had an attitude like Kratos, except mimir doesn't say anything about that . + What is that tattoo written text on Mimir's head ? no one talks about that text . Mimir even frightened Kratos just a little with he's knowledge about the fact he knows Kratos is a god and should tell he's son the truth about himself . ( Kratos gets a little defensive on that part for a short time ) and these kind of little situations occur more during the game . Mimirs voice is just a cover up for who he is . I even think Mimir created the whole event and started pulling strings before Kratos ever met athreus he's mother, from the beginning in a certain point of life ( god of war games ) whenever he needed kratos. but secretly knew athreus he's mother would protect them and guide them to a single truth,( fallen Giants ) but didn't know herself her guidance had a bigger role to play in the big plan of mimir, she did not forsee it because she didn't focus on such things like betrayal, she focused herself on showing the truth about who athreus is and what kratos had to do . I think Mimir is the cause of the Ragnarok ( or is ragnarok himself ) event and the war between the giants and the aesir, ( i think Mimirs plan was letting them destroy eachother ) and take the place of an all knowing god who has seen everything / met everything / knows everything . ( the ultimate god ), but to reach " ultimate god " he needs someone with no fear someone who knows how to kill gods ( Kratos ), it has always bin about Kratos . ( who wouldn't want to own Kratos on a leash ? ) other gods have tried ( why should mimir be different ? or Odin ? ) Kratos he's son is going to be the ultimate trigger when he dies, kratos would toss all humanity and calmity aside, to destroy the last kind of gods, when kratos thinks he has killed them all, Mimir would reveal himself and he's purpose about why he controlled events from the beginning. I think mimir even knows a way to inhabit the power of fallen gods and use that power as he's own...., like Kratos could in all the other god war games . But in order to do all that Mimir must tell Kratos about the possibility's in how to get into valhalla ( there are 3 ways ) Odin knew them all and tries to stop Kratos from entering valhalla . Mimir at this point is nothing more then a guide ( keep that mind ) Kratos does not question him for some reason at all ! nor he's intentions in why mimir is handing out specific information about things . mimir knows how to cheat death aswell ( mimir never died ) with this Kratos will get the promise that he's son could be revived by mimir's will ( if kratos does what mimir tells him to like a dog ) or ( kratos can make peace with the fact he's son is dead, and take out the evil that threatens the entire universe and timeline . To save himself he kratos must save everything . That moment Kratos needs to decide he has enough power to take down the " ultimate god " mimir or not after being lured into a power loss trap . At the very end i think Kratos learns in a way from Mimir ( by killing him for real ) how to cheat death and save he's son from it all in one go when saving everything ( Kratos would get a meet up with he's wife and dead children ) . that's the end of Kratos ( the god of war himself ) . Not to bring war anymore but balance to everything so life could start fresh all over without the hand of any god but by the decision that is made through all living organisms in all the realms so they could bend and shape the world how it always was .( Pure ) Mimir also has a weird golden Eye wich indicates he's eyes aren't just for show but have not yet bin revealed in the game . ( the key lays within 1 eye ) ( Maybe a key for ragnarok or transformation into ragnarok ? ) The Real reason behind the Death of the Giants is that they also might have a power that equals existence ( destruction or creation ) this power is something that could be used at the end . Mimir knows all this and wants the destruction of the giants so this power could never be used against him and wipe him out with all existence and start fresh without him. The Giants are the forthbringers of Realms but not the creation in all of them .

That’s an interesting theory, there are still holes in it that I’m bothered. Mimir could have just visited Kratos, like all the other Gods, Thor, Baldur, Magni and etc. Let’s gather what we know about Mimir, Mimir is the smartest person in the world, was actually carried and beheaded by Odin not Kratos in the real norse mythology, knows the Ghost of Sparta and knows other Gods, Mimir knowing every aesir Gods and their weaknesses is no surprise, he theorizes them and connects them one by one, just like sherlock holmes or death note’s L, but knowing the Ghost of Sparta is very strange, it could be that the director didn’t think it through or the land Sparta was in the same world, either way, once we know about how Kratos went to norse mythology we can all connect it.

The thing is though that if time moves quicker in other realms, doesn't mean that time on another realm doesn't move at all. Time moves forward continuously in a meta timeline (ie the timeline you're playing with kratos). But what doesn't happen is that time goes backwards. So you could spend an hour in Midgard and it would be a month in another realm but the other way around you'd spend a month in the slower realm only an hour would have gone by in Midgard. That means though you can't go back in time and things yet to happen in Midgard are yet to happen in all other realms. Unless you actively go back in time
