Ah, they weren't exactly in use at the time, unlike the locomotive that the USS Barb sank. The only submarine of WW2 (possibly ever?) that sank a train. That was in the Pacific theater, though.

They are probably still able to run on the main line lol

I've seen the tenders on the deck but didn't want to venture away from the wreck to find the remains of the locos.

Ive Dived the Thsitlegorm 12 times. The locomotives 2 tenders were still sitting on the top deck of the ship the last time I was there. Inside the tenders are coupling rods and connecting rods which I always assumed were removed from the locos to make it easier to move them around when not in steam. Neither locos are anywhere near complete. Both chassis's are broken off behind the smoke box and there is nothing else to be seen from the break backwards.

Titanic: then i crashed into an iceberg and people either evacuated or died. Anyways,what's you're story? The underwater 8Fs: so,it all started when we were going to Turkey.....

They were still being used in Turkey (for shunting) until the late 1960s. One of them was repatriated to (I think) the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway. As they were a War Dept. requirement, they were even built at Swindon (Stanier of course, had originally worked for the GWR and his former employer's influence worked its way into his LMS designs. Many WD locos of various types were bought back postwar by the railways and subsequently absorbed into BR stock.

The locomotives remind me of 2 pre American Civil War locomotives that were found off the east cost of the United States resting side by side. There very cool in my opinion and the video I watched talked about the possibility of rasing them.

The fat controller was displeased with Henrys' tantrum about spoiling his shiny paint. He decided to deport Henry from tidmouth sheds to turkey he was subsequently destroyed by a German bombing in the red sea.

There's also a Vulcan diesel railcar at the bottom of the ocean. It was one of a set of 10 built for New Zealand Railways around 1940. The ship transporting it was sunk on its way out.

When I saw this video I was sure it would be about the two locomotives off the Eastern Seaboard of the US. I guess underwater locomotives are a thing.

I remember seeing the underwater trains in another video a while back painting it as a mystery. Glad to see someone doing a bit of research and having an answer

the 8F is my favourite Steam Engline, its a freight engine but looks great. Its like a Black 5 meant for freight. William Stanier made some of the prettiest locomotives ever.

Makes one wonder how many bits of them remain; and whether it'd make a good static monument on land. (a tribute to all those whom lost their lives on the canal during the war)

You should do a video about the time a train sank a ship (overrunning a coal staithe and falling into a waiting collier on the Tyne, punching a hole in the bottom) - might struggle to stretch it out to 2 minutes though!
