I got married at age 22, right after graduating nursing school. Even being that young, I had more assets than my husband (who was 10 years older than me) because of my grandmother's estate. My mother died before my grandmother, so my grandmother's will left everything divided between me and my siblings, five of us all together. We each got a high six-figure inheritance. It was actually my older sister who told me to get a prenup to protect myself in case my marriage ended, which it did 6 years later. We divorced because I refused to have kids. I'm so grateful to my sister for helping to protect me.

Because their preference would tell them no and they're afraid to die alone.

They don’t have any money or assets before the marriage. They make money after getting married and save a lot on bills.

I read a Reddit story where the guy was bitter that his rich wife made him sign a prenup. He was so bitter that he would laugh at her misfortune. Ladies, if you will get married, make him sign a prenup

Because they have nothing to prenup 😂 I can hear some of them now. "What would my boys do? They'd get a prenup. But WAIT...I ain't got nothing. What if she makes more and I'm still broke? Then I can't get her money. No prenup, it is, my guy!" 😅

It's pretty simple. Lots of men don't start out bitter, divorce causes that. They're not asking for prenups because they don't have enough wealth to bother with it in the beginning. Most wealth that accumulates is post-marriage, with a wife taking care of the household, groceries and cooking, child rearing and extracurricular events, family events, etc. These things cost, but he saves on labor and wives typically budget expenses. Even if the wife doesn't work, it saves money in the form of free labor and freeing the husband to work more, progress in his career, and earn more. They bitch only AFTER they're divorced because they lost half their wealth, and they think that all of her years of labor and supporting him and his kids wasn't worth the cost.

I'd Also Like To Add That In These Modern Times, Women Are Out-Earning Men && Outnumbering Them In Home Ownership..... Therefore It's More Beneficial For Men To Not Go Through With A Prenup Where Most Of A Woman's Financial Assets Will Go Back To Her After A Divorce. No Matter Which Way You Flip It, Men Benefit From Marriage More Than Women Do.

I’m at 6:29. I want to add that many times the women I’ve seen online don’t get a large enough stipend from their men to live the type of life that includes fun and entertainment. It’s mainly enough for food and clothes. You should put some money together to see a lawyer before you get married I think.

Many times I have watched the collapse of identity and loss of splendor happening to a man at his lady and chdren s departure . . miserable sight to behold.

Thats what I keep trying to tell people! Very few have assets and/or a lot of disposable money in accounts. Theres so much hype from men about marriage and not wanting to be taken for their stuff, but more than half have jack didly squat.

My mom advised my aunt (her sister) to not tell her husband how much money she received as wedding gifts from others. We are coming from a culture where women have very little options, and most women choose to not get divorced. My mom told her to set aside some money for herself in a secret bank account and not give away all the money to him. My pickmeisha aunt wanted to be the "obedient god fearing wife" and gave up all the money to him because she is "such a good wife". My aunt works as a kindergarten teacher. She lives in a small room with two kids that she pays for. Her kids school are paid by her siblings. And her good for nothing husband lives in a different city, chasing his political career, sending no money home. He is such a manipulative sleazebag that he always has some stupid excuse for not sending money. He will send some money here and there and then ask to "borrow" money from my aunt. When my cousins were born, he fled from the hospital cause he did not want to pay the hospital bills. Also, before marriage, he seemed like a perfect guy because he said "I don't want a pretty woman. I want a good hearted woman"

Prenuptial agreements are for people with MONEY!! Not Bubba and Tyrone and them.

This is good that women are waking up, and looking into things. I never thought about this. It is strange the average man don’t ask, but make sense as they don’t have much before marriage. They usually grow after marriage. That was the case for hubby and I. He was already working, but not nearly as successful as he is today. We both build and grew together so pre nup made no sense for us as we both started with not much. I get it, two incomes better than one. 😌

I think most men don’t know they really don’t have anything (ex: property, pension, 401k, savings) to lose. It’s the thought of losing it is what they are afraid, of I think.

Oh they do ask for prenup but only when they're wealthy 😂 My BF's net worth is $15 million (despite never worked a day in his life) and will inherit his dad's $400 million assets (upon his dad's passing); he told me he doesn't want to marry specifically because of the divorce statistics and he wants to protect his assets but if he has to marry (as I said I want to get married), he asks for a prenup. I'm perfectly fine with it. Just make sure the prenup benefits both parties or at least protect you from going homeless when he doesn't want you anymore. For instance, if he cheats on you, he has to forfeit 95% of his assets to you, or in case of no fault divorce, he has to give you 10% of his assets, inflation--adjusted or whatever you both can agree ☺️

To be honest I don't understand why everyone doesn't get a pre-nup, or why the default with divorce isn't just that everyone just leaves with what they brought into the marriage that was already theirs in the first place? Surely everything you owned/ bought yourself before the marriage you keep, then you still keep everything that you've earnt or bought independently once married (everyone should still have their own job and personal bank account/ savings) then anything you've bought together like a house or anything in a joint savings account you split (make sure your name is on any properties you've bought together)

Because judges throw them out.
