Our offensive shape is set up to defend in the opponent's half, suffocating them by reducing space for build-ups and encouraging them to play on the counter or long balls. With the 3 giants at the back, we often win these long balls, allowing our 4-5 midfielders to win the second ball. Rinse and repeat. The system suits the players and the players suit the system. Perfectly balanced. Will be interesting to see how our new number 9 will slot in to the team.

Most people forgot that Arsenal was also decent last season, they went bad when Saliba injured, you simply can't lose your best defender to compete in PL, remember that Liverpool season when they got overtake by Man City after they lost Van Dijk for months.

His passing has improved tremendously since he joined. He is often overshadowed by Saliba but he is fast growing into a fan favourite.

Our biggest strength is that we are the best out of possession team in the league. We have to keep that base, and then hopefully with players coming back, we'll have enough variety in the squad to get the requisite number of goals.

Gabriel said that in an interview that because he speaks French, it is easier for him and Saliba to communicate, and that's one of the reasons why their partnership work so well.

Combined xG conceded of 21.92 so far this season, after 26 games. Unbelievable 5 shots faced in the last 5 games. United have faced 435 this season. First side EVER to score 2 or more goals in 7 straight halves, but we NEED a striker 👀 we’re phenomenal at both ends of the pitch, and have the best midfielder in the world in between. Hate all you want losers we’re here to stay 😂

@@9751_ not sure what game you were watching but Rice was our best player against Porto. Played 89 mins with a yellow card too! This fluke of a goal is distorting everyone La reality of how that game went. Porto went out to kill the game, it had the most fouls in a CL game ever, and the ball was in play for 50 mins. Without the wonder goal it was 0-0, clean sheet and we take the game to the emirates. It’s crazy how much haters are jumping on any slim chance of discrediting Arsenal

When we press from the front the defenders hardly need to defend. We are not defensive, We just so solid winning the ball back in the final 3rd

look at our attacking player when they lost the ball. they aggressively trying to take the ball back as quickly as possible.. its almost like klopp's gegen pressing but much more discipline.. even havertz no longer lazy like his Chelsea's day..😂😂

Arsenal are amazing but I’ve seen so many teams play dumb against them, like Newcastle yesterday had the most dumb gameplan I’ve seen. You can’t pass out of the back like you’re Barcelona to try to bypass arsenals press. Their press is their real winner here over the defense particularly. Newcastle had on insane pace and didn’t go direct ever.

Saliba makes Gabriel look a bit better then he is. He is very good with Saliba though. Saliba has 3rd most passes in the league and 3rd most tackles against dribbles.

it must be said that the pressing upfront is the main contributor to their defensive stats, whenever you watch a game ,one thing obvious is that these two are hardly in trouble , mostly they do ball clearing and recovering free balls , if its a 1v1 you already know they are first on the ball because they arrive first beacuse players like Rice are also good ball winners and good at protecting defensive lines ,, are they good? , yes but to be fair they don't have much to do defensively,,, compare them to Verane and Evans/Maguire/Martinez,,, those are are always diving , flying tackles, fouling I mean the get a real shift simple bcz not as protected as Saliba/Gabie are,,,

That's why defending is so much more than just your defenders... its a system, an organisation. So you are completely right, but they are also very good individual defenders as well, at least up there with any in the league, so its a pretty potent combination.

City have only been able to field their CL Final starting back 4 in 2 games this season, now that they're all fully fit I expect them to give Arsenal's defence good competition.
