I'm a native NYer, so are my parents, but my grandparents were all born in SC & GA, and migrated to Harlem and the Bronx before my parents were born. Eight years ago I moved to New Orleans, bc it reminds of NYC. There's so much to do & though I have a car, I really don't need one bc I can walk a lot of places, like back home. And I love the long summers. I love NY, and I'll always rep the BX, but I don't care to ever see snow again.

The South starting ironically in Delaware. Right to work states, no union protection, low wages. Just as expensive as NY now. If you don't drive, God Bless You! You don't appreciate NYC, until you leave & it's the little things. If you live down south with NY pay(remote jobs or retired) & buy your house cash, its fine. Other than that, in for a rude awakening. Good luck🤯

South Jersey is cheaper, once you start to hit Asbury Park then Egg Harbor areas south and west. Prime shore towns and anything along the Northeast Corridor and Jesrey Coastline is going to be pricier due to the influx of luxury apartments being built. I grew up in North Central Jersey... it's changing and the prices ate getting worse but still not more than NY
@MzLena2You
@MzLena2You 15 күн бұрын
I’ve considered PA and VA. I can understand a lot of New Yorkers moving to Jersey since it’s right there. I’m semi-surprised that Connecticut isn’t on the list, but as a Connecticut native, I also get it. It’s extremely expensive here and I’m tired of it. The winter doesn’t bother me just the cost of housing. As a single with no dependents, it is still hard! But because we have higher salaries, it’s best to secure a remote job while living in NY or CT, and take that salary with you where it’s cheaper to live. I’m working on that now.

@IAMHERE486 ANYBODY who's a US Citizen has the SAME rights. What Century are you in??? Cross the damn border if need be. Drive, rail, fly, sail to wherever you need to go to get whatever you need. THIS (ALLLLLLLLLLLLLL STATES) IS THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA! Besides which, if everybody thought as do you? The South would still be SEGREGATED! You gotta' be here to make changes!

“If you can make it NY, you can make it anywhere” yeah cause no other city/state abuses its residents the way NY does. 🤣 if you can withstand that level of economic abuse, you can live anywhere.

I was born and raised in the Bronx, grew up in the 80s and 90s. I left nyc in 2006, I still have to commute for work purposes. If i didnt have to conduct business in NYC i would never go back. Its a true ish hole with some of the most miserable people. Go down 125th now, it looks like a 3rd world country. All you see is 30 illegal immigrants on bikes flying down the street hitting people.

If those places are full of NYers who complain about how bad NY is, I’ll pass. I know it’s satisfying and validating but it’s also tedious and gives NYers the reputation they sometimes deserve. Go wherever you want to, but remember wherever you go, there you are.

I live in Brooklyn. Within a 3 mile radius, I counted at least TEN, muti-unit (over 20 apartments) buildings being built. If so many people are moving from NYC, then someone needs to tell the rich developers. Or maybe, just maybe the developers know something different than the person who just made a KZfaq video.

200 apartments being built in a city of 8 million. That’s the problem, there should be 2 million units being built, not 200
@jtFacts77
@jtFacts77 15 күн бұрын
@@Fister-kw5un Think before you type; 1. There's already existing housing 2. He did say "3 mile radius" in Brooklyn. He didn't include the other 4 boroughs OR the areas outside the 3 mile radius 3. Understand the larger point and since you didn't understand it the first time, I will make is simpler. There is a "disconnect" between the press "saying" people are moving out and the reality of large amounts of construction taking place in the residential areas. Someone is moving in these "new" places.
@SunlightsHorizon
@SunlightsHorizon 15 күн бұрын
That housing is generally for people making $100k. Even in "affordable housing" much of the living isnt for us because we normally and largely arent in those income ranges. NYC wants a large amount of haves while strangling and sequestering the have nots to serve them.

Those apartments being build are most likely going to go to the new residents (Immigrants)
@jtFacts77
@jtFacts77 14 күн бұрын
@@SunlightsHorizon Correct, although there is a set aside percentage for lower income tenants. I have a relative that lives in the Upper West side, near Columbus Circle (High Income area) in Manhattan, yet she isn't rich. She won one of the numerous lotteries for apartments that require lower rents.
