Why Burning Through All my Savings is a No-brainer

Instead of looking for a job right now, I decided in October to take some time off, burn through my savings, and invest in myself. Though I struggled with the decision initially, here are my thoughts on why it's a win-win scenario and an absolute no-brainer despite what others may think.

Thaaanks again for sharing girl! We do live in a scarcity mindset society. The whole idea of savings, pension, full time, benefits… it’s so easy to look around and feel utter panic and just assume a 9-5 even if we hate it - no. I don’t think that needs to be everyone’s path.. it’s an option for sure but we creatives not only crave different.. we’re allowed to. Follow those dreams girl! 🙏🏻 ✨ Love your willingness to learn on the job! Speaks volumes.

Thanks so much for the encouragement and support, Kristen! It definitely took me a while to break out of what I thought I was supposed to do and learn to think for myself, but that adds to the journey. It's been amazing to see you following your creative dreams too, and how all of that is unfolding for you! We'll have to catch up soon.

The small misshap with the notes adds to the video rather than taking away from it. Raw can often be BETTER than over-edited. :) Great video. Keep it up!

Thanks so much for the encouragement! That means a lot since this one was the most insecure and nervous I've felt so far 🙈 haha, probably because I had several points to hit. I'm toying with doing simple cuts in between points for videos like this, but the dynamic of doing it all live is definitely stretching me and I do like the transparency of it. Thanks for following along as I figure things out :)

@@jenellecarter I could see your insecurity and nervousness play out. You acknowledged it, pushed through and got it done! Seeing it all play out live made this all the more endearing imo.

@@FFAs Thanks, that's also encouraging! It'll take time to get comfortable, but pushing through definitely helps start to build some confidence.

I think the primary issue is obvious - you worked too hard and gained too little for it, of course you'll want a "time off". And it's important to have these once in a while, work hustle culture is heavily damaging. It's a common issue in modern life... Over-giving, under receiving. As long as you can afford it, take the time to adjust yourself and be ready for a new work with a better mentality and more fresh perspective. Self-reflection periods are important... Otherwise, people end up draining themselves away for nothing and realizing important things a bit too late. Health matter above all, without it, we have nothing.

Yes, self-reflection and time off periods have been crucial turning points in my life! This time off has already 'paid for itself' in so many ways. I've always been averse to hustle culture and will take time over money any day. The dream is to build up enough of my own income to be able to support myself and have freedom with my time and schedule. I'm in the process of figuring out how much runway I have, but either way am much more prepared for whatever's next!
