Caitlin Clark notched the WNBA's first ever triple-double this weekend, while Angel Reese produced her record 13th straight double double! Both players are having outstanding seasons, but why do we think Clark has the edge in the Rookie of the Year race?

ROTY is not a team award. Angel is doing her thing and is good at it. Caitlin is running the floor, helping her team with assists. Clark has been providing her team with 50% of the points scored in all her games, whether it be her points or points generated off of her assists.

AR’s double doubles are deceiving. How many of her rebounds have been off her own 1st 2nd and 3rd misses right at the basket.

First, it’s been debunked. Only a small portion are from her misses, but, who cares anyway. Most players can’t rebound their own misses. She’s just very talented. Angel is ballin out and if you’re a Caitlin fan it hurts. I get it.

If you take away her own rebounds, and allow everyone to keep all their rebounds, Angel still win.

@@james7985 No the Debunk has been Debunk. AR is averaging 12 rebound a game. You have one series of 3 rebounds every game to get that double double every game. 40% of her offensive rebound are her own put backs.

CC stats & play style is actually MVP Caliber. She was leading the WNBA in points scored or assisted on with 713 points and just look who's under her. This is not even close ROTY because she's in the MVP conversation.

CC has brought so much to the table it is unbelievable. When a team has to move the game to a bigger arena because of a player, you have to take notice.... a 3,500 seat arena to a 22,000 seat arena largely because of her.

This season in the WNBA, there have been: 129 double-doubles of...points + rebounds....CC has 3 (Angel's streak) 19 double-doubles of...points + assists....CC has 4 3 triple-doubles...CC has 1 REFERENCE: Wilt Chamberlain of the NBA had a streak of 227 straight double-doubles. I guarantee you NO ONE knew that without looking it up...because NO ONE cares. Here's a stat for you: Diana Taurasi is called the GOAT of the WNBA. She has played 20 years in the WNBA so far. Neither she, nor Aja Wilson or Breanna Stewart have EVER had a triple-double. Swoopes had 2 in her career. Candace Parker had 3 in her career-- and she only got her 1st triple-double in her 9th season....There have only been 31 triple-doubles in the entire history of the WNBA. Only 26 of those have occurred in the regular season. Caitlin Clark did it in her 22nd game....as a rookie. And she is also the YOUNGEST player to get a triple-double in WNBA history. And she would've done it in half the time if not for her coach & teammates. This is the type of situation where, for example, Giannis' ring in Milwaukee is worth more than Durant's 2 rings with Golden State. Caitlin's triple-double is a whole NEW record. Rookie or not. It had NEVER been done. Many people in the WNBA are getting double-doubles. PLUS...she leads the entire WNBA in total points generated through scoring + assists, with 713. THAT is the most important stat...when you factor in how they guard her, how bad her teammates have played, her inept coach and the biased refs who don't give her foul calls...and this is an incredible feat.

A post player who gets 10 rebounds and 10 points really isn't a difficult thing to do. And then you consider a post player who only shooting 41% is pathetic.

The real question should be which player brought their team the most improvement? Not which one is on the team that wins the most. Indiana was dead last the last 2 years right? Where they end up is going to be important to her value!

Then you don't know Basketball many of the great players have lead the league in turnover. When the media was giving MJ the same treatment as CC they would pick the worst stat as a reason he was not a good player. They complained about his turnover for his first 2 seasons. You know what no one cares when your point production is 50% to 60% of your team points. Luka averages 4.0 per game. It means you are taking risk.

It was started by the Black Female ESPN journalist. They started hyping up AR Double Double then the opposing team have been caught more then once making sure AR keeps the streak going. They started talking about AR double double before she was even close to being a record. It like it is being contrived. They double double is of note but it has little impact on her team winning. You can put 10 other forwards in that spot and the team record would not change.AR had one impactful game this season. Every game Clark impacts the outcome. AR scoring has improved in the last month. the prior month she was rank 43rd is up to 22. While CC has been hovering around 14 rank 13th today.

If you look at 6 major stats, Points, assist, rebounds, steal, blocks, and 3Pt. Clark has been top 20 most of the season in all those stats. AR is top 20 in 2 stats rebound and steals. With Steals AR is 10 and CC is 12. Clark is an all around better players then Reese. The turnovers dosen't mean much when your impact in over all point production is 60% of your teams points.

Reese shoots from 5 feet or less and has many of her rebounds that are her own misses of course she is shooting a higher percentage. She does not have the skill levels Clark does. And she is not the driving force for the league as Caitlin. Reese is not the player that Clark is.

@@HoffmanWSports That is Clark because she top 20 in all the stats and She broke sue bird records in points and assist before the middle of the season. She is top in score production in all of the WNBA. She has more impact in her teams success. The Media ignores any real evidence that supports overwhelming proof that Clark is in a solo running for ROY. Look at Aja Wilson hyped as the best player in the WNBA, the best players on her team is Chelsea Grey. Watch Aja career Highlights. What you will see is CG getting the ball to AW. CG has to do more to make that play happen so AW catches the ball make a move and shoot the ball.
