Its hard to say how Hal or croix would do on the national team instead of Korbin because they havent been tested. There must be thing going on in training that show she is the better option. In a sense she has proved herself more than they at the gold cup. Hope she gets her confidence back now that she is in Paris where the fans are not as critical of her.

Appreciate going a little deeper on the midfield / Albert discussion. I am always trying to reconcile the disconnect without resorting to a "your hatred blinds you" conclusion. Here is a theory I am pondering... Emma is used to European midfield systems and not only wants to bring them to USWNT, but also expects to need to be able to beat them to win gold (or the WWC). Cat, Albert and Lindsey have a lot of experience in them, and invariably speaks that language, which Emma needs to rely on while she gets the rest of the team ramped up. I have spent a lot of time trying to figure out the "how could Albert grade out well enough to keep her job" question, because Emma is notoriously unsympathetic when it comes to playing time decisions. My best guess is that her off ball movement is good, and she is decisive with her passes (which also have pace). I would imagine they use position analytics to evaluate every player at each touch to see how much space they have, and also likely grade time to move. They can do that in training sessions too. I am not trying to erase her mistakes or negatives, but suggesting how she might be doing better to their eyes. I would suggest this is a measure of experience, and not necessarily talent, which is why we some reasonable opinions of "she only flashes on bad things, so why not try someone else?" That gets me to Hal and Croix. As as Spirit fan, not only am I a huge fan of both, but also the direction that Jono is bringing to the club. Like Barca was a feeder to the Spanish team, I expect the Spirit will be to the USWNT, and these two rookies will end up cornerstones. Right now, I think they are starting out as the scout team for the European teams. As much as I wanted Croix in that game, I have little doubt they know exactly what Emma needs from them, and that they will get there.

Except Krueger defensively, the problem was that none of the subs contributed. You play Zambia with a player down, it's not expectable to not score when you are in a group stage and a goal difference matters.

Labbe in her tweet stated that only watched video of players taking pks in national team and club games, no drone footage and made her own educated guesses based on that info. I'm not saying that she lying, but she completely distancing herself from coaching staff. So she saying she wasn't coached at national team at all and wasn't previewed to no analysis on opponents set pieces, penalty kicks..? Two things can be true, coaches used footage through spying and integrated it into tactics given to players, without the players knowing. Players did not go cheat, but their preparation phase had elements of cheating.
@HoffmanWSports19 сағат бұрын
Very possible. Labbe clearly watched her own film on the PK’s, which was her big point. But surely they did it for a reason and those reasons factor into the prep that is shared.

Honestly, the entire discussion about Hal could also apply to Korbin. Korbin is literally 20 and basically every coach that has watched her play up until this point (PSG has clearly been a tougher transition), has rated her very, very highly. She's not going to reach her potential without getting caps. It's a whole different conversation of whether she should be on the team, but if she is on the team and Hayes is serious about using the Olympics as training for the WC, then it makes sense that Korbin is getting playing time.
@HoffmanWSports19 сағат бұрын
Your point is true if this is training for the WC, but it’s also the Olympics. It’s not a friendly. I think we would both say that Hal has played better coming into this tournament and if you’re going to take a flyer on a midfielder, it should be the one who is playing together. Skillset wise, Hal is also the better fit. She’s got way more range, which this midfield desperately needs. I hear what you’re saying though. Don’t disagree on the facts. Just on the premise.
@BrittMasters19 сағат бұрын

Doesn't seem to be worth ruining integrity of a soccer program for any extremely marginal gain that might be had from recording opponent's practice sessions. And did they really think that the opponent's would not notice a drone flying over them? It's just so ridiculous. Canadian's pretending to be polite, but secretly sinister.

Speaking of mathing... If she's missing shots to collect offensive rebounds, then good mathing would be to take their points per possession where they take a shot. The 45% would increase. On that same note, I would filter out her offensive rebounds where she was the shooter during contract talks...

Another story that no one is really covering - the CC Fans who are old coaches. Like myself. I make comments and get torn up - people make up all kinds of false reason why I like her. No is really talking about the THROW BACK style that she brings to the game. Wyane Griekski is my comparison for CC - Hockey and Old School BBALL had the same flow. Point Guard, Shooting Guard, Small Forward or Big Guard, Strong Forward, Center, 6th man was usually a defensive specialist, 7th man was a SPARK player, 8th player was your Brusier, 9-12 were your unique players. CC brought me back into the sport after being out for 10 years. I just lost my passion for the sport I played, Coached and was a die hard fan for. The Game Changed - But with Caitlin Clark there is HOPE! In the world of 10 million a year MTV look at me superstars BLING BLING players -- She brings HOPE for the Game!

@@HoffmanWSports Thank you for responding when you didnt have to. Its OK, on the personal attack. There was no need for that. I said I liked your work. Read this you'll see you have a fan of the game and YOU. And oh - I've been IN The INDUSTRY OF BAKSETBALL and SPORTS/ENTERTAINMENT for 45 years. I even coached a Women's team in the 70s. I don't care about ONE PLAYER I care about growing the game 100% - My current programs go out to reservations and rural communities with gear to grow the game. How have you grown the Game? YOU Can grow the game aswell so pls Relax. You miss read my intentions. I was giving suggestions on how to grow your numbers BECAUSE you are good and more people need good KZfaqrs like you who understand the game of basketball. Many young KZfaqrs get so upset when given suggestions. Have you ever been on a team before? Turn off your comments if you don't want people to make comments. Ok lets move past that -- As far as your assumption of me only following ONE player. I'm following history right now. The question is - WHY have millions of poeple become die hard CC fans? In your time and in my time - We've never seen it. Why? Lets go beyond the normal talking points of race, long-range 3pters, or her gender identity. The answer will help GROW THE GAME. What is it about her game? Do you cover Hockey? When Wayne Gretzky came into the league, he was not a fast skater, medium slapshot, and not a big guy, and yet was breaking all of these records? My take was that he could see things happening faster and sooner than any other player in the sport, and on top of that he had the ability to place the puck where he wanted. Ok, SO WHAT? That meant he would SURPRISE you. As a hockey player and fan I was hooked - Every game he would do something that would cause you to take notice, be surprised, and you found yourself saying "Damn, What?" Its a great time for WOMEN and LGBTQ+ in sports and our culture. NO one, not even you denies that fact that Caitlin Clark has something in her game that makes you want to watch. Not perfect at all, but like Gretzky every game something will happen that causes you to nod your head in approval or shake your head in disbelief. How will her game change the game? In the KIDS trying to play like her. Passing, shooting, and most important Courage and VISION! Just like Jordan, I was coaching at the time. Kids all started jumping to slam dunk at the age of 5 years old on nurf hoops which built their muscles up now we have an NBA filled with everyone playing above the rim. Yes CC is not the only great player. But for what ever reason she has the WORLDS attention. WHY? You break-down the game very well - the more people listening to YOU -THE BETTER.
