Call of Duty is a hugely popular first person shooter franchise published by Activision that's been outputting a new yearly release since 2005 including this year's Modern Warfare III. It has won numerous awards and changed gaming forever. But how has Call of Duty been able to keep releasing more games than most of the biggest game developers combined (more than Halo + Uncharted + Last of Us + Zelda combined!). In today's video I find out exactly how Activision, Infinity Ward, Treyarch and Sledge Hammer Games are able to do this.

Here's my take why CoD isn't dead. Aside from the staple brand. It is because, it is competing with itself. If a person disliked this the current year CoD, then they don't have to wait long for the next one. Instead of fixing CoD2022, devs takes the feedback and puts it in the next game CoD2023 so the community buys the next one and so on.

I disagree. When call of duty starts using AI technology to censor speech, I for one am done. Not going to waste more money on a game that you can’t play. Talking crap is part of the fun. Many others will stop playing if they continue to get voice chat banned.

Heard CoD: WWII had a good campaign but mediocre multiplayer, same thing with Infinite Warfare. Heard the opposite about Black Ops III, hreat multiplayer and zombies but mediocre campaign (by Treyarch standards).

Late comment, but glad to see another person acknowledge Infinite Warfare as a good game. That entry is seriously underrated. :) Also, I can’t help but respect this series and it’s devs (which is why I still remain a fan). The fact that they’ve been able to crank out 23 of these games on a yearly basis and still have most of them turn out decent at worst (with a few exceptions) is, in my eyes, pretty commendable.

Maybe I’m too much of a boomer to enjoy the advanced movement, but that paired with the weak gunplay and overall unsatisfying sound effects turned me off to this particular title. My faith in the franchise definitely wavered after this one, and I pretty much ghosted the series until Modern Warfare 2019 dropped. Overall I guess it was too gimmicky for me to be invested.

I studied game design as an additional course to my university studies (yes they did it and as a video game enthusiast I didn't miss it). I saw that there are few factors that determine the success of a title. One of the most important is accessibility. Anyone can turn on Cod and enter battle without coming out with completely broken bones. If you've never played an FPS in your life, you can still finish a game with a few kills. If you have lousy aim, with low TTK you can always get a lucky shot that kills an enemy, if you have lousy movement you can camp. I'm trying the finals. I doubt it will be a good success because some little game design rules are completely wrong. Too high TTK with huge mobility. TTK must be inversely proportional to mobility.

Interesting fact about Treyarch, half of their team worked for Grey Matter, which worked on CoD1's expansion United offensive. So they technically have been working on CoD since 2004.

Nowadays, people look back at MW3 more fondly. But when it first came out, people thought it was mid and didn't live up to the more popular COD games around that time, namely MW2, BO1, and BO2. Those 3 games are still in most people's list for top 5 CoDs.

Don't normally comment, but hell, I also remembered your name from one or a couple of years ago and clicked as soon as it popped up in my subscription-thing (not sure what it's called in english). More than Dinosaur Warfare, I'd like to see more of you, and less of the memes. Simply because I genuinely believe that you don't need as many (as you perhaps think you do) as opposed to many other content creators who are just not as charismatic as you are. If you're ever in doubt, know that your jokes land, and you don't need aides... aids... you're a cool, very likable dude, and don't need the help. Great video as always. -edit- Will get that bell going from now on since I saw that you've been posting a lot more that I've missed.
