If you are in the Balkans(it was Yugoslavia)99%of kids play football every day ,and its a national sport,doesn't matter how big we are as a country,we are one of the best in football and we have darned good players in NBA too.

As an Indian all I can say is that 90% of Indian population doesn't care about football. Rest of the 10% are scattered throughout the country. So basically when the national team plays matches in India nobody is actually traveling to watch them play. That's why Indian matches happen in one or two states only. There are only one or two state governments who are actually prioritising football,rest are stuck with Cricket. I wouldn't blame them because Cricket is a multi billion dollar business in India.So sticking to cricket comes with lot of financial advantages. Whereas football struggles to even find sponcers and training facilities.

Mohun Bagan AC club was established in 1889. Football is quite old in India.. in the 1960s we were one of the best team in the world and we qualified for world cup also but India didn't play due to some controversial reasons (politics) yeah we have corruption in football because people and govt haven't showed interest till recent. Now we are in the right track. Good grassroot academies have been established and our U-16, U-17, U-20 national teams are very good these years compared to our senior team.

But our country is a cricketing nation 😎😎
