They can aim very good, they had to miss, so they didn't kill the main actors. But whith non important Rebels, they killed them easily.

A buttstock, there is not. Lacking in sights the laser gun is. Poor technique leads to only firing from the hip. Firing from the hip leads to poor aim, poor aim leads to missing targets. The helmets make it difficult too.

These are reasons 1. HUD distracts (if you recruit or because of explosions) 2. Hip firing (they're not aiming down sights in movies & shows) And most importantly - plot armor.

Because there's a thing called "Plot" and if you wanna milk the series for everything it's worth and not end every movie in 10 minutes or less, then you keep your main characters alive as long as possible and the only way to do that is to have the ONLY people tryna kill shoot like they're drunk and high at the same time...

Well, according to Rex in _Star Wars: Rebels,_ the problem is the helmet. He couldn't see properly while wearing it. As soon as he chucked it away, he could shoot properly again.

They can aim, but where ordered not to so the rebels could escape the Death Star with the Millennium Falcon, that had a tracking beam on it. Stormtroopers are part of the most trained armies in the galaxy. And stormtroopers and clonetroopers are different things.

The biker scouts in the mandalorian should have no excuse for bad aim. Their helmets have the best field of view out of all the other helmets that the empire uses

I've seen a theory in which it's said that Stormtroopes miss their targets because it's all part of a plan. Vader doesn't want Leia, Luke or Han all dead. He wants all of then so that the power of the empire can grow, since they're excellent warriors.

Another reason is possibly the fact that they don't aim! They aimed more when they were intentionally missing than when they wanted to hit them. They just hip fire!

There's people in the real world who've been through mutiple theaters of war and live to tell the tale. Who never got shot, even in ridiculous scenarios. Why does this happen? Some would call it the inevitable statistical outcome, others the "Will of the Force".

I actually think the real explanation is far more simple than the force being involved: 1) Luke in Episode 4: "I can't see a thing in this helmet!" Visibility due to the skull-like design of the helmets was very poor. 2) Empire went for intimidation rather than function and quantity over quality. (Also why none of the TIE fighters had shields, they relied on sheer numbers rather than skilled pilots.) 3) Episode 7 gives us a clue: FINN shows us that the storm troopers had to under brain-washing in order to be mindless drones for the empire. So a lot of the time dedicated to training all of the non-clone Storm Troopers was much more brain washing and much less battle tactics and strategy. The empire just wanted hordes of mindless soldiers to do their bidding (See point #2).

I have a theory, my theory is that when luke saw obi wan die, and the storm troopers were shooting at him, he was subconsciously using the force to direct the blaster bolts away from him

What If Obi wan never lost his conscious when being pushed by Dooku in revenge of the sith? Would Anakin have still killed Dooku? What would have happened? Please do a video about this I'm very curious what would happened

because if they could... all the main characters would be dead in the first five minutes of the movie, hence why they are good shots at the end of rouge one

It was pretty clear in the OT that blasters were clumsy and inaccurate like muskets and would almost always miss unless fired at nearly point blank range, and Obi Wan called blasters clumsy and random in A New Hope. Only in later stuff did they become perfectly accurate killing machines.

There was one man - a highly skilled and intelligent one - who spent years fighting right along side the clones during the war. He would know them better than most anyone else. Obi-Wan. "These blast points, too accurate for Sand People. Only Imperial Stormtroopers are so precise." This is the ONLY canon reference there is to go by on either side of the spectrum. There is not a single character - including all the main ones that escape every time - that has ever said "Yeah they can't aim at all." There is definitely something else at work here, and using plot armor as an excuse is just plain lazy. Regular rebels, ewoks, etc are hit by troopers just fine on most occasions. Why not anyone more important to the story? The Force chooses no sides, it is simply the Force. It has its own will and it seeks balance. The Prophecy was that Anakin would bring Balance. In a galaxy led by the Jedi, and the Sith long since forgotten, this came true by bringing the Sith and the Dark Side back. And I can sum up my points in this very elegant, but simple, bulleted list: 1. Vader allows them to escape the Death Star. No casualties allowed. Obi-Wan chooses to stay, knowing he will die. His death makes Luke stronger. 2. The only Force sensitive pilot is the one to hit the mark on the Death Star. Obi-Wan makes Luke trust in himself to make him stronger. 3. Luke is attacked by a wampa. He tries to reach his lightsaber without the Force first, before trusting in his ability. Only due to the Force was he able to escape at the last second. Only after this event is he told to seek Yoda for more training. Where he is shown the Force can do anything. 4. Luke's speeder is shot during the battle, not exploding like all the others, but coasting into the snow where he is uninjured. Now instead of using high technology to win, he must use his own abilities and tools, much like the Death Star battle. 5. Luke survives impossible odds again, so that he can receive Force training from one of the most powerful Jedi to live... with 800 years of experience at that. 6. Luke has grown stronger under Yoda and receives a vision through the Force which rips him from his training despite Yoda's objections. 7. His strength is tested against the powerful dark side user Darth Vader. He escapes carbon freezing only by his connection with the Force to leap free. He is unable to block or avoid anything Vader tosses at him, however none of these attacks would be life threatening anyway. 8. Instead of killing him, and ending the light side threat to the Empire, Vader disarms him and then allows him to escape. 9. Luke is stronger now as he visits Jabba the Hutt, allows himself to be trapped with the Rancor, and makes a likely Force assisted throw. He again escapes confinement due to his strength in the Force by leaping up and over enemies to catch his lightsaber - either through the Force or perfect mathematical calculations by an astromech droid. 10. During descent to the forest moon, Vader is able to sense Luke's presence and blow the Rebel's secrecy. Is this the first time that the Force has worked against Luke? No. The trap had already been laid, with false information fed to the Rebels well in advance. 11. The heroes are captured by the ewoks. They only escape because of the Force. Luke is able to lift C-3PO to "prove" his godliness. If Luke had been rendered unconscious, like with the wampa, or otherwise had been taken somewhere else, everyone dies. 12. Luke meets his father again, and neither agrees to defect. Vader again allows Luke to live. Maybe at the Emperor's demand, maybe not. 13. Luke is able to hold his own in a duel with the powerful Darth Vader, despite having very little training with the lightsaber. This is achievable because of all the trials Luke has endured in the past few years while Vader's progress was halted. 14. Luke wins the duel due to his strength in the Force, but does not kill Vader for emotional reasons. This in turn is the same thing that allows Vader to finally turn on the Emperor. If Vader does nothing, Luke dies, and the mantle of Hero of the Galaxy may fall to Leia, who has a much weaker connection to the Force, and thus would not make a good candidate to shift the Balance back. Instead, the Dark is extinguished yet again. "It surrounds us and penetrates us; it binds the galaxy together." The Force does not seek CONSTANT Balance - it is everywhere, moving, changing, adapting. Instead of a swing hanging lifeless, unmoving, balanced, it shapes the world around it. The Force is the gust of wind that moves the swing forward, then backwards, then forwards again. During their reign, "the Jedi were keepers of the peace." They always seek out evil to destroy it. They negotiated compromises mostly. Balance. When the Sith took over, billions of lives were wiped out, planets decimated of life and resources, and a planet-destroying super weapon built in a matter of decades. After the Force was done with the Emperor, it allowed Luke to grow more - start a school to train new Jedi, the galaxy was happy. Oppressed peoples were given life. Slaves and fearful Imperials were free to start over. The Galaxy had seen such darkness that light was coming back in a whole new way. And it was all happening far too fast to maintain the Balance. Enter Kylo Ren. The Force strengthens him - aids him in turning some of his fellow students to the Dark. More than an ambush - it's a trap. Luke is allowed to live once more, through the Will of the Force. But he doesn't pursue Kylo like he did Vader or the Emperor. He stays in Ahch To. Alone. In Balance. He had done good by training Force sensitives, but he also unleased Kylo Ren on the galaxy. His strength of youth has left him, much like Obi-Wan so many years before, and a new, younger person is growing with the Force, mirroring Luke himself. Obi-Wan was the previous target of the Force. So powerful with the Light, but unable to end Anakin's life. And if Obi-wan had been killed, there would be no one to hide Luke, watch over him, and train him for the Force. Luke, now the old hermit, plays the role of teacher of the next generation. A new tool for the Force to use to find it's Balance. With the Dark Side much stronger now, the Force will again try to Balance itself. But this time, Luke will be working for the Force rather than with it. And that is why Stormtroopers can't shoot the good guys.

It's gotta be that armor though. Rex, the clone captain who could stand toe to toe against numerous Sith warriors, had to slap on some Stormtrooper armor to go undercover in the Rebels series and he could barely hit a single target when push came to shove.

Here's my theory, pre video: the troopers were designed for blitzing tactics, hence the name. So aiming wouldn't be essential as moving forward under fire. Hence they are poor marksmen.

For first order, I don’t think firing a extremely bright laser in front of a ton of troopers, and some officers without any visible eye protection helps their case

Jango Phett bumped his head on entering his spaceship, and you can see clone troopers bumping into things, so it's considered an inherited trait that everyone got. Clumsiness.

The evolution of armor and advanced resilient materials pushed blaster development. The nature of blaster bolts led to reduced effective ranges and the need for massed troops. Similar to unrifled muskets.
