There's a special dipstick that you can buy to check the fluid in these. It is cheap. Less than $20. I have a chrysler 200 with the same tranny. There is a graph that tells you what the fluid level should be based on the temperature of the Fluid. So you have to hookup the scan tool and monitor the fluid temp while you're checking the level. I bought the dipstick so I could monitor the fluid level. I check the level at every oil change. There is a "hack" where you can check the level, using the oil dipstick. But the proper dipstick is so cheap, I just chose to buy one.

Yea! That might be it 7 year old video but I remember this. Because way back I looked up on how to check the oil levels on these caravans without a dipstick with this same issue. I had removed the pan to drain the oil filled it with new oil and the pump was still noisy.

Why not just change the fluid and filter and move on with life. It's either gonna fix it or it isn't.

Yeah I'd have probably tried that tbh, cheaper than buying a new van and worth a shot. It *might* be all it needs.

I'm sure T.O.M. thought the same thing, but the trannys are so bad on these vans that even the Manager knew that wouldn't be a satisfactory repair. Especially after the abuse from the low fluid to the tranny. Which is why a used tranny was quoted. The van also had a number of other issues.

I've done that before back in the day these caravans were pretty bad for this and changing the fluid did nothing to remedy it. I'm pretty sure there are videos out there for this. Eric from South main auto has a video 7 years ago with the dipstick hack someone in the comments sent me the link to the video is what I'm pretty sure I found back in the day to check the level. Been watching his videos since my apprentice days.
