Might want to choose your phrasing here. Saying Linda died and was brought back to life sounds more magic than sci-fi. She was hit in combat and flatlined, then placed in cryostasis almost immediately. Halsey meticulously planned out her surgery, prepping flash cloned replacement organs before thawing her out. It was a fairly well written portion of the books. Honestly the most unbelievable portion for me was that her cryopod, ejected prior to the Autumns landing, was found by the Master Chief in space after Installation 04's destruction.

They’re probably glad they missed the flood outbreak 😅, if I remember correctly chief was terrified of the flood but still finished the job. Just imagine if they were there.

I remember the first trailer for CE back in the day, when there was no real lore and MC was suppose to be the last of his kind. Amazing how far the Halo lore has come since then.

Fun fact, the reason people thought chief was the last spartan was because of the CE phamplet that came with the game. however, it was written from chief's perspective. The pregame book 'fall of Reach' mentions blue team surviving, as well as a couple unnamed spartans.

There is so much lore during the events of all three games I wish they made a game where we were apart of blue during reach or earth. Like a Star Wars commandos type vibe.

Linda didn't die. In the book "First Strike" in between Halo CE and Halo 2, Linda was stored away in a Pelican Drop Ship that Johnson found and escaped Halo's destruction. She was wounded, but not enough to kill her, but severe enough to put her into cryo stasis. Her and Chief led the team to take over a Covenant ship to take it back to Earth. Sgt Major Johnson was a part of that journey that was later classified and redacted. That's how she got back to Earth and Blue team.

Chief and Linda also had James 005 who had a needled hit his pack and it propelled him into space and they couldn’t find him. He is one of the only Spartans to truly be mia

I love the lonely feeling you get from the og trilogy, that feeling of you being SOL and it's up to you and cortana (and any younger sibling that happened to wanna play split screen) to get yourself out this mess. Linda is the reason for the “Spartans never die they are just missing in action.” After her resurrection Spartans became the deathless symbol of “hope”. Wherever you find one whether dead or alive there’s still a chance they’ll keep kicking ass. I also like to think every mission is chief just trying to get back to his team. He was ordered to go planet side to fight but honestly so many Spartans were on the ground having him fight in space/air would’ve been better resource allocation. He chose to get planet side to find his team

Love that they added Linda's pod in the anniversary of combat evolved. I always wondered why it was there.

As a kid when I just played halo to play halo the lore wasn’t a thing that interested me I was under the impression that Chief was the last Spartan.

My headcannon for Halo CE co-op is always that the second player is actually Linda in a "what if she wasn't killed" scenario.

The other Spartans are the Rosencrantz and Guildenstern of the Halo Universe having adventures just off-stage of the Chief. Tbh I liked the idea of Chief being the last spartan, but realistically after the success of him they’d keep trying to do it over and over again

Would love to play a game as Blue Team that takes place while Chief is doing his own thing in the main games

This is what happened Main article: Battle of Installation 04 John-117, disheartened over the death of his close teammate, took her to the cryo facilities where they immediately froze Linda's body in a Cryo-chamber. Pillar of Autumn then jumped to Installation 04. As the ship was shot down by Covenant forces, most of the cryo-chamber, including Linda's, were ejected as per standard UNSC procedure. She floated above the Halo for several days until after the destruction of the Installation. Linda was then detected by Cortana and John, who were in a Longsword fighter. They picked her and two other cryo pods up, but both of the other occupants had died when their chambers failed. Linda was the only SPARTAN-II, other than John-117, who was near Installation 04 during the events of Halo: Combat Evolved. When John-117, Avery Johnson, Cpl. Locklear, Lt. Haverson, and PO2 Shiela Polaski captured the Covenant Carrier Ascendant Justice, Linda, still in her cryo-chamber, was brought aboard. Due to the extent of her injuries, she was left frozen until certified medical staff was available. She stayed on the Ascendant Justice until Dr. Halsey was rescued from Reach along with Frederic-104 and the survivors of his team. Dr. Halsey revived Linda aboard UNSC Gettysburg . Doctor Halsey ended up performing surgery on Linda, transplanting to her newly flash-cloned kidneys and liver which needed to be replaced due to her injuries. The operation was successful and Linda survived, but Doctor Halsey said it would be at least a week before she should even get out of bed; however, Linda disregarded this due to the imminent threat to Earth and seemed to recover at least enough to go on a mission within a few days. yes I copy and pasted stuff

Man the Lore really crapped out during Halo 4. I like the idea of chief being the last of his kind. In halo 3 humanities last stance. Vast majority if should have died on reach and halo 2.

I honestly liked halo 4 and 5 for the spartan team element, like Halo 4 had the Spartan4s (even though they were very limited) and Halo 5 had Spartan teams blue and Osiris, it honestly made it feel like you were a Spartan team rather than a lone Spartan

Linda wasn't killed. She sustained significant injuries but her Spartan physiology and the suit kept her alive. Chief put her in a cryopod (if i recall right) to stabilise her. The entire sequence was covered in the novel Fall of Reach.

Wish the halo universe had games surrounding the other Spartans missions during the chiefs events

Eric Nylunds novels covering these events were an absolutely enjoyable read.
