Hot press epoxy is brittle like glass. With every pop it cracks, eventually your pop is dead. Where as cold press glue stays flexible. With every pop it flex’s.

Yeah, I can't stand PS Stix boards; they got even worse when Covid hit and messed up the wood supply. Dwindle boards such as Madness from the same period MASSIVELY outperformed Schmitt's sticks, so I don't know what the heck he's getting on about saying the Chinese process is damaging the nanotubes. I got 1 damn month out of a PS Stix Lance Mountain deck before the nose fucking exploded. I rode a Sam Beckett Madness from Dwindle for over a year without it ever losing pop, cracking, or otherwise giving up on me. Board is still in the quiver with plenty of life left in it, lol. This discussion doesn't pass the sniff test for me. Schmitt does a great job hyping himself with scientific-sounding talk, but his boards don't stack up to his claims. LOL

When i was in my prime i was skating Zero/Mystery boards, i was paying for them at wholesale price because i knew the guys at blackbox. They had boards made in Mexico and China, i started with the Mexico boards then i switched to the china boards. The Mexico boards lasted longer but the china boards were alot more poppy. I was switching them out every 2-3 weeks so I didn’t care bout longevity. Its all different nowadays, i had a girl board and damm it had soo much pop i couldn’t handle it

I only skated Schmitt Stix. They were the only decks with enough concave. Ripsaws were excellent. Had two of those. I only broke two decks over the years I skated BTW. I literally wore them out over time. But then I would skate trucks until I was almost all the way through the axel too.

99 percent of the time I get made in Mexico boards. A couple weeks ago I decited to try a made in China board just to see if there was a noticeable difference. I skated for about 2 mins tops, missed a kickflip and the board already had a chip FROM A FLATGROUND KICkFLIP. Don’t know if I’m just unlucky but ya…not stoked. Also wanna add that the board feels totally dead, like it came waterlogged.

Sorry but he’s so full of sh*t PS Stix boards have been terrible for well over a decade. I used to ride them all the time back in the og girl/chocolate days, and later Habitat. But since then his boards have dropped significantly in quality. You never knew what would turn up if you ordered one online. It would either be so steep you could barely stand on it or it would be completely flat with more “fingers of flat” than kick. And let’s not forget his weird thing of drilling his mounting holes bigger than other brands for no clear reason. I know of at least two brands that switched to BBS from PS Stix because the boards were so inconsistent in press and quality. Also he seems to have forgotten that all the New Deal reissues are made in china.

Basically all the well-known brands (FA/HOCKEY, Real, Baker, Alien Workshop, Element, Heroin, etc. etc). If you're at a brick & mortar skate shop in the US (not browsing Amazon or the toy aisle at a department store), odds are every deck on the wall was cold pressed at either BBS, PS Stix, Clutch, or Dwindle.

It took the fun out, I started finding myself doing mathematics listening to music and I quit listening to Tool because the music theory side of me was just doing math the entire time.
