Altho that line can be interpreted as "another persona user close to us" it makes the point sound stupid, why would Akechi be surprised about this, joker and his friends all had persona powers, later on they find out that maruki has it, its logical to think that there could be multiple persona users.

yk thats very true. I'd arguably make the claim that sumires the one more deserving of having two personas. It would be pretty cool if she gets a second tier persona when she accepts herself as sumire instead of through the confidant route and then just like akechi, her 3rd tier would be the fusion her kasumi persona and sumire persona, finally accepting both parts of herself.

​@@kaos-qc5hoAkechi is just as deserving of 2 Personas. One is the hero he wishes to present himself as to be like and the other is his more spiteful cynical side. I don't see why Sumi would be more deserving of a 2nd Persona than him considering how deceitful and fake Akechi is. I'd say they're equally deserving of having 2 Personas. In fact I wonder why most characters don't have multiple Personas. Most people change how they act depending on who they're around.

Another reason Akechi and Sumi should have a showtime together is because they both represent individuality, autonomy, and freedom in contrast to Maruki's utilitarian world which suppresses those ideas.

I think Akechi being able to detect persona users was a removed concept. Wasn't there a deleted/altered scene from near the beginning of the game on central street where Akechi+Sae cross paths with OG PTs and Akechi stops for a second implying that he felt something about them.

@@Gaben38 I would have loved that. It makes the pancake scene make more sense - his stopping to introduce himself always felt so random, (even know what we know now). If he’d noticed them before, even intuitively, I feel like I’d find his introduction more intriguing..

@@Gaben38 I wouldn’t be surprised, he was a persona user for quite awhile up till that point(I think he became a persona user 2 years to when persona 5 takes place). Plus he does take over as navigator when Morgana and Futaba aren’t available. Generally, navigators are more capable of detection and reading power, energy, etc. they also help when something major comes up or mapping dungeons out. Not just ones like futaba or rise or fuuka but morgana, teddy, and mitsuru are fairly capable. Couple that with Akechi being in a grey area between a standard persona user and a wild card. I can see why he would have heightened detection abilities compared to most other persona users.

It’s like a sign of respect. It’s something in the past that Akechi might not be proud of/willing to share with everyone so why bother? No reason to bring it up now especially with someone not related at all

i think maybe at the end they do tell her. Someone needs to make sense to her why akechi is dead after all they take down maruki. Also maybe they do, just not in story cutscene in order to save time. And then theres also the scene where shes eavesdropping on the party speaking to lavenza in which futaba and haru make it clear their okay with akechi working with them and if he betrays them again they'll just beat him again. So if sumire heard all of that then i think she knows to some extent that akechi is not a good person.

Akechi and the others reference his betrayal In mementos trips in the third semester, (mainly the pancake lines) she might be a little confused of why they are so antagonist of him, so I think she probably knows at this point. I expected she would know a little before the Shido ark, as she should know Akechi was the one who apprehended Joker, that was no secret and the "Good Morning Japan", the place where her father is the director, interviewed Akechi after Joker "suicide", and blatantly saying once again he was involved in Joker arrest. Unless she didn't watched that específic day, but she should at least have heard about it.

She would know had she joined the Phantom Thieves sooner though, like if she joined them into Shido's palace, she'll find out Akechi's true nature and in 3rd semester when she sees Akechi, she'll go "What is HE doing here?"

they probebly recorded this befor everything was finalised, there are unused prince akechi navi lines as example, darkechi lines for when joker is down, alot of stuff where they end up figuring it can or can't work, just recording lines for every member dosent seem worth it for a single dungeon when you already have futaba, and mona, so they had ALOT of lines recorded for a handful of fight just for 3 characters, wich you probebly not going to hear 80-90% of it by the time futaba is back.

it's stated at least once that Maruki can actually bring people back from the dead and that anyone who gets revived is indeed themselves and not a cognition.

Marakui had the power to literally bend reality to his will, it was the real Ackechi not a cognitive version

Apart from the fact it's not cognition, whether Akechi was actually brought back is dubious. We only have Maruki's claims, and he wouldn't even know Akechi died.

​@@naos8116 Apparently the good ending just confirms he lives, which is super lame and takes a lot out of Akechis character. Someone who wanted to repent for his wrongdoings so bad he didn't care if doing so would mean his death. None of that meant anything, apparently, because he just gets to live and gets his happy ending.

@@Miriam_J_ He didn't really care about repenting, I think. He just cared that he wouldn't ever live under somebody else's thumb ever again. And the good ending neither confirms nor denies his death. Depending on certain conditions, there are two versions of the post-credits scene: one with "Akechi" (we never see the face) and one without. You can actually check out both versions of the post-credits scene in the Thieves' Den.
