Well van Gaal, Mourinho and Solksjaer were given time too... until both board and fans turned against them. Going by what happened with those coaches 2-3 years is the maximum he can expect to get. Will that be enough to turn things around? I follow Ajax a lot too and I need to point out that the club has made very little progress since that memorable run of 2019. Fortunes earned through the sales of de Ligt and de Jong were reinvested on inferior players; ten Hag's Ajax has been eliminated not by vastly superior teams in Europe, but by opponents like Valencia, Atalanta and Benfica.
@smutsy8557

@@pritapp788 i can agree with you on the most part, but they only reinvested max 50% of what they got from players as De Jong en De Ligt. Ajax is al about being profible on the balance sheet and dont have any debts unlike other clubs. Ajax is one of the most healthies clubs in the world because of investing in players and buying them low, so yeah it takes time again. Unlike the best clubs in the world we sell our best players at the end of the year and start al over again 😉

@Phil Space that logic doesn't work. As the argument they're making is a lack of EPL experience not where he's coming from. That's obviously a concern but I'd imagine it's much stronger than the Norwegian League,the last Norwegian guy didn't perform that badly before this season, and the fact that he could compete with the best of those "better leagues", is to me quite a plus ...when Pep moved to the EPL it was quipped that he'd struggle, I remember Xavi saying he'd dominate the EPL and quite a few pundits felt the obverse....that happened. When Klopp came to Liverpool,most people didn't think he'd make it given the season he had before at Dortmund and I can make a strong argument that only Bayern Munich from the Bundesliga can compete in the EPL. Also if where you come from is something to speak of: Pep was an academy manager before he conquered the world with Barcelona, Zizou was too and one can't honestly claim those La Liga youth teams are better than Eredivisie. And if one would then I'd throw in the fact that Bayern Munich aggressively sought Ten Haag to take Charge of part of Bayern youth teams.

Ole did that for 3 years. He got some results here and there and talked a bunch of cliches so we were happy. No, playing identity. As an Ajax fan it must be said that Erik ten Hag’s commitment to youth is HIGHLY exaggerated to say the least. Ten Hag has only introduced three frequent starting players in his tenure in Amsterdam: being Mazraoui, Gravenberch and Timber. Donny vd Beek, Frenkie de Jong and Matthijs de Ligt were already part of the 1st team when he took the job. Instead since the celebrated 18/19 season he decided to stick with relatively an aged group. Highly relying on signing experienced players rather than youth prospect such as his predecessor did. Oh and Marcel van der Kraan? Never heard of him.

He is an immense asset for Man U with plenty of footballing attributes but domestic trophies wise much depend on how Pep and Klopp further evolve as well as the supports they get. Unless both stagnant then..... We still have perhaps Gerald, Lampard developing and Rodger getting better.. Who know who else just domestically not to mention those outside of Premier leagues such as Zavi, Ancelotti blah blah blah.. The future is a difficult call but he is the best one at the moment...

I fully agree with kaveh here. I believe that PL Experience is the most important metric in appointing the manager. We should've actually gone for Roy Hudson or Steve Bruce as he has a lot of PL Experience. Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea made the mistake of appointing the managers without PL Experience and look at where those clubs are now in the PL table🤔 fools, should've appointed someone with the PL Experience🙄

Here’s my concern and I have bern supporting United since the mid 60’d. The Ajax/Ten Hag model of developing YOUTH as the Primary driver for success (by all means correct me if my recollection has failed) was not the Busby, Ferguson model for success. Yes - their Academies were instrumental for nurturing future super stars; but just like - City, Chelsea, Bayern - they relied on superb scouting, and poaching stars from other teams as the seedbed for their goal machine. As a fan - I do want to wait 3-5 years for a purely youth reliant to dominate EPL and UEFA.
