I agree that OSU and WSU should be in the Big12 but think the Big12 is holding out for ACC schools.

Texas Tech alum on the West Coast. I'd love to see OSU and WSU in the Big 12. People outside the west don't understand how great those fan bases are and how well they would actually fit in the Big 12.

I think too much is being read into this, without being in a conference OSU has to fill out their schedule.

K-State has dropped Rutgers from their future OOC schedule and added a home and home with Oregon State. I believe its in 2030 // 2031

Whenever any big 12 team plays OSU or WASU we should all watch to boost the ratings. I think that's going to be the benchmark on whether an invite comes their way. It's like a test drive before the Big 12 commits.

Scott Barnes was on Bald Faced Truth with Canzano yesterday. He strongly signaled that the B12 or ACC are the strong option 1 preference. Rebuild PAC a secondary option. Scenario planning for all options, but that is the word straight from Barnes.

It would be a solid add. The league was looking at adding east as well. While the number will grow, it has to grow in increments. IF we can land 4-6 ACC teams we do. Then we have an eastern pod. Then we turn back west and add for a western pod. I think the B12 will look to get into the Cal market at some point, but some limitations. Cal and Stanford are snob schools that actually led to the PAC down fall. Actually Fresno would fit the B12 very well. Unless there becomes an 80 team super co ference, we will see a 24 team, pod based B12. It needs a coast to coast viewing area to include someone solid in Cal.

Does Fox and ESPN approve the addition? I think the ACC leftovers are more realistic for Big 12 expansion.

Big 12 would only go so far in adding teams, but if you're OSU/WSU you have to try and stay on their radar

They have 7 games on the schedule so far. Oregon, Cal, Washington State, Texas Tech, Houston, Fresno State, and Portland State. I wonder if they can get enough P4 games to avoid paying the MW for 2025.

What if Oregon State and Washington State stay independent for the foreseeable future? Would that be a better choice? They wait until August 4, 2026, dissolve the PAC 12 conference so they still keep all the settlement money and the March madness units. They keep their scheduling alliance with the MW. They fine tune the scheduling so they only play the best teams in the conference. They would continue to bundle their home games and get maybe $10 million per year each from a media rights deal. CFP pays them $3.6 million. As independents if they make the playoff they get a $6 million bonus, making their total payout $9.6 million. Big 12 gets $12 million from the CFP. Not a big difference. Other than an invite from the ACC or Big 12 this seems like the best choice rather than creating a new G5 conference.

Just wait, the rebuilt pac12 becomes the big12 west. It has to happen to stay relevant for the big12. Everyone focused on the big12 going east... yes, it will happen and they will get some acc teams, but they will also go west as well. Either that, or the lawsuits come through and make the super league make sense.

I think you are looking to much into this.. if they were smart they would play a middle of the pack big 10 or sec team and if they win against them it shows they can be better then the big 12 because the big 12 best teams are in the middle of the the big 2. To be looked at by the best you have to beat the best. Beating a middle or lower level big 12 team or even if they loose means nothing…. They were both overlooked for a reason. The stadiums are empty or not as many television sets watching the teams.

Oregon State and Washington state will not ever be in the Big 12 because of travel time the East Coast Big 12 teams do not want to travel that far they already travel too much. But I have suggested maybe if they join the Big 12 that Oregon State and Washington state has to do all the traveling to Cincinnati West Virginia and UFC those schools would not have to ever travel to Washington or Oregon it would always be played in those States instead. But I don't think it will ever happen and I think Oregon State and Washington state will both end up in the ACC after it implodes and they will rebuilt with those teams.

Not necessarily if there are east / west divisions it would be extremely rare you would ever travel cross county. Never say ever or never.

OSU/WSU would be great fits in the Big 12 because their fans care. Also, because the Big 12 must have the elite Beaver mascot. 🦫 I'm not optimistic it will happen, though, because I think the Big 12 is now going to be looking eastward to pick up ACC schools. It's highly likely OSU/WSU will have an ACC option, as crazy as that sounds, once the dominoes fall. I'm not sure that's their best option. Depends on how many ACC schools stick around.
