"Why did they persecute us? Because we're Jews and they're Christians." | Thom Berkowitz

ONE FOR ISRAEL Ministry

Күн бұрын

Family history, including his grandfather’s experiences in Russia, caused Thom to believe that Christians were the enemies of the Jewish people. His father’s death and a traumatic experience at a synagogue pushed Thom away from God. His life began to revolve around pursuing wealth and power until he found that pathway only led to emptiness.
Thom’s life changed when his friend became a follower of Jesus. Soon after Thom’s wife accepted Jesus as her Messiah, he decided to read the Bible for himself to learn more about his wife’s new faith. To his surprise, Thom found the New Testament to be a very Jewish book, written by Jewish people about the Jewish Messiah.
The more he read the more he fell in love with Jesus of Nazareth.

You brought to my mind a quote by Golda Meir. “There will never be peace in Israel until the Palestinians learn to love their children more than they hate the Jews.” 1 John 4:6-11 6 We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error. 7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. 8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. 9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. 10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.” Romans 10:9-18 “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. 12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. 13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. 14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? 15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! 16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report? 17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. 18 But I say, Have they not heard? Yes verily, their sound went into all the earth, and their words unto the ends of the world.

@@topcopy98 “Listen to another parable. There was a landowner who planted a vineyard and put a fence around it , and dug a wine press in it , and built a tower , and he leased it to vine-growers and went on a journey. And when the harvest time approached, he sent his slaves to the vine-growers to receive his fruit. And the vine-growers took his slaves and beat one, killed another, and stoned another. Again, he sent other slaves, more than the first; and they did the same things to them. But afterward he sent his son to them, saying, ‘They will respect my son.’ But when the vine-growers saw the son, they said among themselves, ‘This is the heir; come, let’s kill him and take possession of his inheritance!’ And they took him and threw him out of the vineyard, and killed him. Therefore, when the owner of the vineyard comes, what will he do to those vine-growers?” They *said to Him, “He will bring those wretches to a wretched end and lease the vineyard to other vine-growers, who will pay him the fruit in the proper seasons.” Jesus *said to them, “Did you never read in the Scriptures, ‘A stone which the builders rejected , T his has become the chief cornerstone ; T his came about from the Lord , A nd it is marvelous in our eyes ’? Therefore I say to you, the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people producing its fruit. And the one who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces; and on whomever it falls, it will crush him.” When the chief priests and the Pharisees heard His parables, they understood that He was speaking about them. And although they sought to arrest Him, they feared the crowds, since they considered Him to be a prophet. Matthew 21:33‭-‬46 NASB2020 bible.com/bible/2692/mat.21.33-46.NASB2020

@@topcopy98 Oh dear Mr. Friedman, first thank you for your comment. But Jesus (YHVH) was more than a mere mortal, He is the Son of God! His Father sent Him to seek and to save that which was lost. Repent for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. Of first importance, Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, He was buried in a tomb, and on the third day He rose from the dead in accordance with the Scriptures. For God so loved the world that He sent His only begotten Son that whomsoever believes on Him will not perish but have everlasting life. God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world but that through Him the world might be saved. And this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us, and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. The wages of sin is death; without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins. In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace. The former days of ignorance God overlooked, but now He commands ALL people everywhere to repent for He has fixed a day upon which He will judge the world in righteousness by a Man whom He has appointed; and of this He has given assurance to ALL by raising Him from the dead. Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son will not see life for the wrath of God remains upon him. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. Repent for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. Follow Jesus ONLY; Holy Bible ONLY. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. True worshipers will worship the Father in Spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship Him. To God alone be glory. Yeshua didn't only speak to Jews and He loves everyone. He came through Judah because it had been more loyal to Him. Christians who persecute Jews aren't followers of Yeshua, neither are Jews who hate non Jews. There is no longer Jew and gentile, slave or free, we are one new man in Yeshua. We are supposed to be united as one in Yeshua in a bond of true love for one another. Hatred and superiority need to end because it is from satan

Yes. There's so much talk of anti-semitism. They think it's a horrible sin to hate or even disagree with the Jews. But they think it is ok to hate and talk bad about other people who are not Jews. The world has hated and persecuted the Jews, but at least some of it does go back to how God said He would curse them in Deuteronomy. I don't think it's right to hate the Jews or persecute them. It sure does make it harder to love them when they will literally hate you and threaten you if you are a Christian though. We don't have an "anti-" for hate against other people really. Hate is hate, it's wrong. A lot of Jews do think they are better and favored over all other people. I do see some arrogance. But we are called to forgive and to love. Pride makes it hard. I am working on this in my life.

@@davidjones6269 I believe the arrogant ones are talmudic which is not Gods word. Talmud is a supremacy book. Not holy. Says viles things against Jesus etc.. The pharisees who had Jesus killed followed the oral law which became in time the talmud. I believe when Jesus mentioned the synagogue of satan He was speaking of these people. People who were jews in name but not in faith.
@davidjones6269
@davidjones6269 4 жыл бұрын
@@reactor508 I have heard some of the vile and unGodly things that are in the Talmud. Now, I have heard that the Talmudwas put together I think some hundreds of years after Christ. Can you attest to the accuracy of that? I know the Pharisees and Saducees(don't think I spelled that right) followed and taught many rules that were not specified, or commanded at all in the Mosaic law. I know that many missed the point of the Law, they were self righteous, too prideful to accept Jesus as the Messiah, even though they could not discover any fault, nor deny the miracles He did. From what I have learned, there was no true "oral law" that existed beside all God commanded through Moses. The Mosaic Law was so important, that God commanded it to be written from the start, and if it wasn't then it probably would have been misconstrued over time. If God commanded more, besides what is written, then surely it would be just as vital. So why would everyone neglect to write it down? I don't understand that, it doesn't make sense to me. On top of that, if you can't keep all of the Mosaic Law, why would you want to condemn and burden yourself with more? From what you wrote, I don't believe you think the "oral law", was truly given separately. I don't remember where Jesus mentioned the "synagogue of satan", could you point me to where that is found?

Yeshua was a gentile. I guess most people havent figured that out yet. Mary was a gentile maiden (of Ephriam) who was bethrothed to Joseph of David giving him full rights to the throne. When Joseph died Jecharias took her in as her kinsman redeemer. Yeshua was raised as the son of the high priest as a son of David. You have to study the types in the OT to figure it out. The blessing went to Ephriam the father of the heathens. Gen. 48:19. The 2nd Son.

I worked for a Jewish family in Dallas Texas in my early 20’s. I remember all three kids were in Jewish private schools and I did carpool, took them shopping for their kosher goods and looked after them part of the time while also doing other jobs. I will never forget the oldest who was 11 telling me that he bet I was an ignorant Christian and my Jesus was nothing but the son of a carpenter and a putz. Strangely, I felt so bad for the child. I felt the vitriol for a man he never knew based on horrible historical atrocities to his ancestors that passed on their fear and hate.

When someone is suffering, God uses that moment to reach them. If someone says, their a follower of God, but would turn their back on someone trying to come to God, during a time of suffering in their life. That person is walking in darkness. And I don't even mean that in a judgmental way. There are a lot of people in the world who can't see. Like there walking in a dark room. If they can't see that God uses these moments in a person's life you should not follow this person. Because you want to follow someone who can see, not a blind person. It never made sense to me why some Christians would hate Jewish people. For one, Jesus was Jewish. All of the apostles were Jewish. Nobody could have killed Jesus against his will. The reason Jesus's sacrifice was so beautiful was because he did it willingly to save us. And nobody alive killed Jesus, I mean it never made sense to me. I think a big Jewish revival is coming soon. Many Jews will acknowledge Jesus as the messiah, it will be a beautiful thing.

I’ve been born again as of Nov. 2018. I always believed in God and became a lukewarm Christian over time. I did shrooms, drank, but mostly smoked pot everyday. I look back and can’t believe how patient Jesus has been waiting for me (I’m 39). I have been saved by an angel or Jesus (not sure at the time) at least twice, but possibly 3 times. A voice told me to let off the gas pedal when I was going through an intersection, as soon as I did, a truck blew a stop sign that would have killed me. I also fell asleep at the wheel another time and WOKE up while driving sitting upright and very much positioned like a robot. I ended up on the other side of town somehow! Fell into a pool’s deep end as a child, somehow my mother knew to check on me and pulled me out. I had another experience where I was praying about a relative that was brutally murdered and burned alive years prior. I was HIT like a sledgehammer with unexplainable peace and joy. Instantly tears poured out of my eyes and I had the breath sucked out of me, totally winded. It was like I was experiencing the joy of heaven but my human body could not handle it! I also experienced an interaction with several demons in the basement of a psychic lady’s house who summoned them and spoke to them nightly. The fear and anger I felt as their eyes pierced my soul was like nothing of this earth......,over and over and over Jesus was calling me!!! I was too much of a fool to notice, even though I believed in Him! In November of 2018, after a minor argument with my fiancée, I heard a demon’s voice talk to me telepathically in my mind- “I hate you, I’ll kill you and tear your family apart.” With the most conviction in my soul I commanded that thing to leave my house in the name of Jesus Christ. Every room in the house I yelled at it. I felt our Lord blast through my house and beat those things down! Whoosh gone! I prayed and thanked him and repented for allowing them to get close to me. He talked to me telepathically asking me questions and made me feel the guilt of my sins. Lots of information as a sort of psychic download into my heart and mind simultaneously. Question 1: “After all I’ve done for you, what have you done for Me, and others?” Question 2: “Am I NOT enough for you?” Then, the weight of my sins lifted, it was incredible. Since that moment, I’ve had no desire to drink, smoke, blaspheme, masterbate, be angry, stressed out or sin at all. Wanting to share love with no other possible explanation. I notice the tiniest signs he puts in my path....I see them right away and chuckle, seeing He really does work in mysterious ways. I fully understand how to have a relationship with him and not need to physically see or hear our relationship. He is incredible people! Let him into your heart! I had felt in my soul the the extremes of joy and sorrow through just some of my life experiences..... Feeling the presence of God and Satan deep inside through strange encounters. For that, I am blessed to KNOW Christianity is the truth, yet I STILL tried to not fully commit. He wants us all to repent and accept Him. He actually told me this! Don’t think you can sin all your life and God will be OK with it. He really will reward you if you follow with all your heart!! My father left my mother with four children (me included) and I never knew my natural father from then on, but have always prayed to the father in heaven with being humble while forgiving all events that ever happened in my life. The love that endures in heavenly places is far greater than I can ever imagine! We all need to remember, that the beginning of redemption from sin starts with understanding the truth in your heart by not doing those things any longer and having faith that he will deliver you into righteousness while removing any pride that would keep you from receiving his blessings! You see, it was pride that caused the destruction of Sodom and Ghemorrah, it was pride that scattered the people and gave many languages of those that built the tower of Babbel. The only father that I grew up with knowing was the father in heaven. The love, compassion, wisdom with understanding has been without measure upon me. Many of times in my profession as a Business Intelligence Developer I have had questions, only to wake up with the answers of code that I write. This morning I woke up in tears from the feeling of what love is like in heaven and I am looking forward to what is in store by him who created everything that exists as his humble servant! Yeshua died on the cross so that we may have redemption from our sins... I praythat everyone will come to him and ask him into their heart. Many are blind, because of their will and not the will of the father and until they wake up many things will happen in their lives that they have no answers too. This is what I equate a blind man to being with an elephant in the room that has great love beyond measure with forgiveness, yet the blind man has uncontrollable fear... One day a man without sin will rub mud that he spit into, just so you can see what faith can bring. He came that his will be done, which also allowed his disciple to see as well! What does it take for people to wake up??? He did not come to condemn others, but to give them everlasting life!

While I was a sinner...Yeshua loved and died .....for me. What kind of love is that? " Abba, forgive him, he doesn't know what he's doing. " 1 John:4 15 Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. 16 We have come to know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. 17 By this, love is perfected with us, so that we may have confidence in the day of judgment; because as He is, so also are we in this world. 18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love. 19 We love, because He first loved us. 20 If someone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for the one who does not love his brother whom he has seen, cannot love God whom he has not seen. 21 And this commandment we have from Him, that the one who loves God should love his brother also. If you love Me ( Yeshua, Jesus) Keep my commandments.

As a Christian, his question is like a slap in my face. Why do Christians persecute other faith? My flesh immediately countered this question with so many "facts" to defend the injustice, then a softer voice speaks softly, "I am sorry". I know that it was the voice of my spirit. I am sorry for whatever me or my brothers and sisters did and is still doing to other faiths. There's nothing can justify all the wrongdoings. I am deeply sorry for whatever caused your family sorrow. I also would like to remind my fellow Christians, "Faith, hope, and love, and the most important is love".

I am so happy to hear that many Jewish people are turning to see who Jesus is. Yet I would like to warn whoever will hear, Do not just focus on Jesus, please listen to the Gospel message Jesus was sent to tell us. The Gospel of the Kingdom of God, that will be establish when He returns to earth, to reign as King of kings. Bringing and end to Satan's rule and deception over the earth. There are many Christians, but many are deceived, they believe in Jesus, but they do not hear Him, or do what He teaches ,because the adversary has counterfeited the message with another gospel. Because this other gospel is is focused on Christ, it looks like the real thing. Therefore, Jesus told His disciples in Mat 24:4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. Mat 24:5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.... They come in the name of Christ, proclaim Christ to be the Christ, yet deceive many. They do not Hear is message, or keep The commandments of God, that He kept and taught. So take heed to His message....Mat_4:23 And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people......Mat_6:10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.....Mat_8:11 And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven......Luk_22:16 For I say unto you, I will not any more eat thereof, until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God....Act_1:6 When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?......Dan_2:44 And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever......Dan_7:14 And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed. Dan_7:18 But the saints of the most High shall take the kingdom, and possess the kingdom for ever, even for ever and ever.....Dan_7:27 And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdom under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints of the most High, whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey .....Rev 5:9 And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; Rev 5:10 And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.... Zec 14:4 And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, Zec 14:16 And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles. ... God speed the day.
