These kinds of questions are deliberately asked just to check the tolerance and method of handling certain situations with patience... The interviewers tend to check the candidates knowledge and stability of the same... And to say ... This girl has given her answer in the best composed way

I mean higher offical hierarchy test one who doesnt express whats right and wrong even in his lifetime work at stake doesnt have the eligibility for IAS or any govt section ...u guys all become so like well trained employes not educated be bold dont put ur ideas in silent mode be more like man than a cooperate slave ... Any degree comes with a lot of hard work which fosters enough discipline to challenge in life obstacles as it comes . It matures when a number of challenges are converted into feasible action. Like a chemical engineering equation with enthalpy and heat covalent one can lead to final output for reactor or reformer performance. Social challenges can be manipulated in such a calculation with brilliant equation to solve public cases appropriately. Only experts can understand.

damn guys the way she answered here is really incredible...at first even I thought she could also have added 'knowledge is never waste'... but she didn't bcz saying that wouldn't have been a good take on the other hand; the interviewer deliberately accentuated the word 'waste'(bcz he is also very much aware of what he is meaning to do) just to see how softly the person sitting infront of him is able to control the scenario or how much he/she is capable of to answer even a nonsense question or a person with all understanding and patience without being violent.

To take civil service exam you have to have a degree. The exam board did not ask for any specific degree, so as a student definitely you would choose your favourite degree. That doesn’t make that degree a waste , civil service exam is always a second option , we don’t put that much expectation in the results, even in the preliminary unless you are born ready to write that exam. That question was pointless and that was not even a question. First the interviewers should prepare for the interview . But she SLAYED as always…

It's valid question, you need to take every aspects of education system to know why this kind of question have arise. Most of civil services jobs have humanitarian base, we rarely use technical knowledge in civil services. And now a days it has become a trend that medical and IIT students Leave their profession and go into civil services. You wasted publics money and a seat that could have been for someone that really loves engineering or medical. Do u know that government invest almost 1 cr for medical students and 10 to 20 lakhs for IIT. And there are many more aspects like innovation, economy, job scarcity etc can be taken in account but leave it. Again it's not wrong for technical background to become civil services but question is Valid

There is no special/separate degree to come for Civil services If B.E/ B. Tech become engineer If MBBS became Doctor what about -------- became Civil services/ group exams

Its a valid question cause India very much lacks in innovation. Engineers life in India is struggling that how many people aspires to become civil services cause it's easy job and we don't have what it takes to be engineer. Too much craze for government jobs have killed inovative skills in students that's why we lacks company like chatgpt, Tesla etc and patent filed in India is very low compared other countries. Hope government looks into article 311 and amend it for better futures

If the government thought it was a waste, it wouldn’t allow engineering grads (or students from any field other than humanities for that matter) to take the civil services exam. Lots of variables in this world, and a lot of times people realise that the path they have chosen is not really meant for them only after having walked on it, no shame in that.

Hey a small comment from me, It's a good answer, but i would suggest everyone try not to repeat the same words again and again, it creates some bad impression to the evaluator. If you wanted to study engineering what's there to stop me if I'm eligible. If i took a seat from someone else that means they weren't qualified to do so in the first place. Is it my fault that I'm excelling? Also engineering would have more scope in terms of stability compared to other subjects. Am i not allowed to think for myself in an optimised fashion? Regardless of what I've studied, i am now here, qualified to sit in this interview and that terms my legitimacy for the job and not my obligation to a random citizen who was not qualified to enter the institute i took that seat in. If i got into an IIT ranked in top 5 then the person who i took a seat from can enter into top 10 or top 13 or nits some of which don't even require that much percentile to get into, so it's not a matter of me robbing someone else's seat, it's a matter of qualification.
