Why do Formula 1 cars create a shower of sparks when racing at 200mph? What are the differences between the sparks in the 1980's and the sparks now? You've come to the right place to find out.

Most cars in f1 have road going cars, f1 parts are the very best out there, all except redbull....so basically at some stage a performance part , either engine, back wing for supercars...like the super car that nearly killed the stig taking a corner at 150+..went spinning for ages, stig say's, put a wing at the back and it'll break the lap record, a week later , he did just that... Also, the DRS can cause sparks: With less downforce coming from the rear wing (when DRS is open), and the normal amount of downforce from the front wing it can affect the aero balance of the front and rear of the car as the ride height is lower in the front than the rear= sparks

F1 is truly unbelievable when it comes to burning money. There is always talk of cost cutting, etc, etc. But using a rare metal like titanium just to make sparks is pretty crazy. Between the 50 thousand pounds piston, five thousand pounds break rotor, all of it going to the bin at the end of the season, I sometimes wish F1 would truly get more basic and leveled, so we got back to a driver's championship and not a technology championship.

You can see that at Daytona with stock car racing when the car's get bunched up together high speeds at the start of the race when the air pressure on the tires are low.

Great explanation of something I hardly think about. I have honestly wondered if F1 was still using the legality plank anymore.

I think sparks just make your car look broken. One time I was driving down the freeway and hit a rather large bump, my muffler mounts broke and I started dragging my muffler and all I could see in my mirrors were sparks. Had like 900 more miles to drive that day too. I lucked out and found an S hook thingy on the side of the highway which I used to rehang the muffler, then my car wouldn't start. After waiting for AAA for a bit and knowing there wasn't any shops close enough to get a free tow to, we ended up push starting the car which worked. Had to push it up a small hill first. Made it home without any more problems after that though.

I always thought the titanium bolts were places there to gauge downforces. Too many sparks meant you could lower the downforces a bit and not lose much performance. But I stand corrected.

Hi, I have a suggestion for the halo upgrade if they are opting for a windshield they could go for a mesh type design to allow air flow in the cockpit

This video needed more info on what the underside of the car actually looks like. I knew there was a wooden plank there, but I didn't know anything about any metal blocks and I didn't understand how they're mounted or why.

Just get 2 drivers who basically hate each other on the track. Give each the two fastest F1 cars on Earth, who both can be street dirty, make sure they go into the final race of the season equal on points THEN sit back and watch the SPARKS fly
