Growing up, I wondered why marriages failed. I hated the idea and concept of marriage and vowed I would never have anything to do with it. Alas, today I am married lol and whilst I don’t claim to have all the answers, there are a few things I have observed and learnt which I would like to share in the hopes that someone might be helped. In this short collage of thoughts I also show clips from a trip I took with my husband to IITA Ibadan (in Nigeria)

Spiritual intimacy, Emotional intimacy, Physical intimacy and recreational Intimacy. God wanted marriage to be where we can pour love and when one person does that, it becomes draining. That is why we need God to pour from. Yes to people choosing wrong From the onset, yes to The broken people thing. Yes we are all broken and we need healing of some sort. The pain I can't seem to shake of is how from a young age of 13 I'd always wanted to have no record of mistake or missteps in this area of my life, I started reading marriage books the minute my mum hinted it in my second year in uni, always went for seminars, am still single but with some scares, missteps and mistakes in this area of my life, although I acquainted my self with these knowledge I still slipped. My journey hasn't been a smooth one, my gratitude goes to God for saving me through these various pains, and giving me strength to push forward.

Thank you for tackling this issue. It has been bothering me for a long time, the divorce rate seems to be going higher each day and my heart bleeds each time I see a couple divorcing soon after marriage. I think we also tend to focus more on Weddings and not the actual marriage.

This was so beautiful 💥💥 I 100% agree that people don't take enough time to prepare for the marriage as much as they do for the wedding. So best advice I'd give for single people and those in courtship is to take due diligence to actually PREPARE. If we are honest with ourselves, the media and people in general don't paint the realities of relationships. That they take effort, commitment and need to be founded on a strong, firm foundation. Also, many married couples (especially the elderly) don't speak on the hardships of marriage (almost painting a false image of what it should look like - all sunshine and roses) but truth be told there are some rough patches and beautiful patches and through it all love should shine through.
