Well I'm a covert narcissist and the only reason that I want to stay friend with my ex gf is just because I want her back in my life. I want to control each second of my ex. I feel very upset and angry to the point that it would have end up really bad if my ex gf if she wouldn't be living overseas. I can't imagine that she did cheated on me while in relationship with me. But she never knew that I'm a narcissist and I can't take it slightly when in a long distance relationship...my ex suddenly leaves me for someone else. I wonder why do you so called normal people feel so great when you're doing the same things as we do. However I'm already with my new girlfriend that is really nice & cute and makes me feel happy and balanced again. I have my own home and job but as always no matter narcissist or not when someone discard us and cheat it's really painful. Not all the narcissist are the same. Wow this is exactly what I experienced! My ex narcissist is in the public eye. Community gatherings events etc... For a while we were meeting up outside of his gatherings doing things in nature and I didn't think anything of it... I out of the kindness of my heart wanted to start being more supportive of his classes and events so I started attending.. for the first couple events he tried to play it cool and then it really started getting to him and he started acting really weird , uncomfortable, awkward... Then his ex started showing up to the events... I confronted him and asked if he was going to let her know that we were working on our relationship/pretty much in a relationship,,, and he pretty much denied that he had been leading me on for the last year and that we were "just friends "so he didn't need to say anything... It made me sick to my stomach and the light went off in my head and heart and at that moment knew that this was done. That I was done playing the game and I really saw a side of him i hadn't been able to see before... It's been about 4 months now and I've had no contact with him even though he reached out several times wanting to talk and explain himself and all the emotional stuff.... I haven't responded and I'm in therapy now focused on my own healing 🙏

My ex had the actual nerve to be seeing someone behind my back but then when we would see each other he would be touching and trying to kiss all over me. All he did was keep staring and trying to make moves all the while knowing that he was still with his new female (who has now miscarried the child by the way) and because he saw how good i looked in my dress i believe he started telling me lies about how hes trying to break up with her which is all bull crap he wanted me of all people to be a secret and i do believe he was trying to keep me from getting snatched up by the true and responsible man that he always new i deserved. Im sorry for the long message but i just wanted to let you know that i know exactly how you feel.

My ex was always getting calls and texts from a Sarah, who he explained was the receptionist in his two-person office -- he showed me the phone and the contact name was "Work", but then after a month it turned out they were actually "friends", then after another month guess what -- were actually "best friends", finally after I knew him nearly three months he admitted they'd had 15 year relationship with her -- or as he bragged "I strung her along for 15 years."!!! This man literally put his ex on the payroll to get paid daily supply.

J Bats The same thing happened to me. The friendship aspect of the relationship indeed FAILED .... thus there was NO reason to pretend we were still “friends” and wasting my precious time.

Most of the time that is true when the friendship fails. However, there are some cases where the friendship does not fail, and it's simply not a good long-term match because your values might not match up (i.e. one might want children and the other doesn't, or some other similar value-clash). I would be friendly (or at least polite) to the vast majority of the people I once dated or was in a relationship with, but I'm only still friends with one, and that's a long-distance friendship at that (NY-CA) where I only get a chance to hang out/have dinner with him once a year, at most. I would not hang out or even grab dinner with any of my past exes aside from him, and it's been a platonic relationship for 25 years now.

I usually answer, get it over with! Try to make situation appear somewhat normal to those living here although they all tell me to stop answering. @@Ju-xi8sx - best answer: I (mistakenly) thought I would gain custody of the child after I left. She really wanted nothing to do with the day to day workings of raising a child. I did that. She just liked to appear to be a good concerned Mom. That child became nothing more then the last bit of power she held over me. Unfortunately, being a female, she knew she had the family court on her side and used that to her full advantage. All the while everything bad was my fault, look what I did. She didn't clean or maintain the home. It wasn't fit for a pig. That was my fault because she couldn't "afford" to maintain the house. How much is cleaning supplies? I paid major child support, she is also a professional. My son is psychologically damaged and I no longer have a relationship with him. He has no relationship with any of my family, or her family for that matter. A big push for me to leave was the example I was setting for him by staying. If I knew then, what I know now would I still leave? That I have no answer for.

My husband has brain washed my daughter my son knows what he is he resents him for it as the kids grew he learned to be extremely sneaky and doing things he usually does and yes narcissist do evolve
