The dumbest content I ever put out. History of the 'Copying Aliensrock' Meme
Oh also things I forgot to comment on in the video:
- yes this is really a genre of comment I and the rock get constantly lol
- there aren't many puzzle content creators who are willing to play some of the really obscure stuff, so I appreciate anyone who does :)
- I never heard of Aliensrock before creating my channel.
- Can of Wormholes and bunny game are also games I 'tested' before release, but only enough to get playtester credit lmao (I did not play anywhere close to the full game during those 'testing's.)
- Often roguelike videos do worse on my channel than I would expect which is a bit disappointing I guess
- DST has now shifted between recording this video so we're 1 hour apart again lol
- (This happened after recording my video) Mimic Logic and the cursed chess troll rule game were played after I did, which feels maybe inspired, but also I got sniped on 20 Small Mazes lol

It's always seemed obvious to me that you guys have similar game-finding strategies, plus the overlapping fanbase that means anything one of you does is going to get upped to the other one - Aliensrock very specifically did Lingo because his viewers demanded it, and I think it's safe to say that that was because of you.

I watch both channels and there is a bit of a different flavor if you will. They both do puzzles, sure. However, Icely Puzzles skews toward cursed things, whereas Aliensrock is more optimization oriented. Icely Puzzles does stuff like cursed minesweeper, cursed tetris, cursed chess, cursed baba is you. Aliensrock does stuff like Roll, Factori, and Opus Magnum. I couldn't really find much to back it up, but i also personally think Icely is more mathy. A game like Hyperbolica would fit perfectly on Icely's channel. It's cursed math. It's also the same dev as a recent series. (Coulda sworn he played it but couldn't find it). However, Aliensrock didn't like it because it's an adventure game.

One thing i like about icely more than aliensrock is that icely is less iritated easily, there are only few where icely hate puzzle games he played while aliens seems to be more judgmental about the game he's played, like in recent video he skipped some of veggie quest levels because of how boring the puzzle is while icely played all of it, probably because icely didn't try to solve it in one sit tho

I feel like we just don't have enough people doing puzzle content, so you guys pretty much have a duopoly. Puzzle games also have trends and there'd be less talk of who's copying who if it felt like everyone was doing it.

Don't forget, developers often reach out to similar channels at the same time. Also, "sniping" can actually be good on KZfaq, because viewers for one channel get recommended the other.

Have you listened to Rick Ruben or similar creative “philosophers”. It lines up really well with what you say. If you have an Idea or a passion that emerges, it isn’t your idea per say. You are part of the tree of humanity and you are the branch that is bearing the fruit. If you don’t act on an idea, someone else will make it. Not because sheer coincidence or copying, but because the harvest was in season and it was time for that fruit to grow weather it’s on your branch or not. If you have a truly good idea that you feel you see value in, act on it if you want to be part of it. Or you can sit back and watch all the others bear fruit, there’s no wrong way to live. Sometimes you’ll see such potential in a seed of an idea nobody else seems to get. People may not yet have acquired the taste for that fruit or it may need years to cultivate. These are often the sweetest though and many stop watering them before they even sprouted.

At what point do we just stop with the facade of causality being bound to the speed of light? It seems unscientific to believe that an effect happens before it's cause because the causal impact would have had to travel faster than the speed of light.
