This is part one of a two-part discourse. The question asked was - why do the Himalayan masters stay in the Himalayas by themselves and not live in the cities?
Om Swami says that his personal experience and the experience of countless seekers have not been what has been mentioned in some very popular books, where an impression has been created that there are yogis hiding in the Himalayan caves. He says, there are yogis who live in the Himalayas, but not like it has been portrayed in some of the books. He says, he has been to the French Alps, the Swiss Alps, the mountains of New Zealand, California, and other places too, but the transcendental energy and the enormous amount of spiritual wisdom which flows from the Himalayas is not found elsewhere and it is incomparable. And once, one has tasted this bliss, everything appears insignificant in front of it. Further, a person who has found bliss in solitude has no meaning in the world thereafter. Om Swami says, only two kinds of yogis will come back from the Himalayas. The first kind are those who still harbor some unfulfilled desires, and the second kind who want to communicate or transmit the bliss they felt to seekers, who cannot themselves go to the Himalayas due to various reasons and commitments.
