The question is not "is Doc Rivers the ideal coach for Milwaulkee in 2024?" The question is "who could you hire that's better than Doc in January?" Griffin was a shit show disaster that fell somewhere between PJ Carlissimo and David Blatt on the "Total Disaster of a Hire" scale. He will never sniff a head job again unless the team hiring him is trying to tank. You couldn't hire anyone better than Doc at this stage of the year, and continuing with Griffin was just absurd.

Doc is a floor raiser type of coach, not a ceiling raiser. Look what he did in Orlando and post CP3 and BG LA, compared to when he had stars. The 08 championship fucked our perception of him
@Amm17ar
@Amm17ar 5 ай бұрын
The memes messed our perception of him. Reality is 29 coaches dont win a Championship every year. Reality also tells us there are only a couple handful of coaches who have better records than him, and most of them arent coaching anymore. He is one of the better coaches in NBA history, and a lot of his numbers back that up. 9th in all time wins, 111 playoff wins, 16 straight winning seasons. In a 23 long coaching career, hes only not made the playoffs 5 times. Hes an NBA Champion and 2x Eastern Conf. Champion. Thats a better resume than 90% of coaches. You have to make the playoffs to win Championships. Hes also one of the better defensive coaches, his schemes are great, and his playbook is one of the best. All of those are what Milwaukee was missing with Griffin. Well see how it works out, last I checked Milwaukee got bounced in the first round last year, so its not exactly a high bar.

There have been 348 NBA Coaches in NBA history (assuming the website Im using is correct, but it sounds like it should be around there) Assuming 348 is correct, a little over 10% of all coaches in NBA history have won a NBA Championship......10%. I do not like doc rivers but given everything that has happened between stotts and griffin, the dame rotation issues, his awful defensive scheme that did not fit the personnel, and the fact that the adjustments to fix these issues came from the PLAYERS and not the coach leads me to believe that he will fall apart against the Sixers or Celtics. I don’t know that doc fixes any of this but it’s something. Keeping Griffen feels like a punt. It’s so weird to be complaining about this given the record (sorry piston fans) but 33-11 has never looked so fraudulent. We literally had Nurse but we took his assistant .

First, nothing to worry about your haircut, I like that. Second, Doc was moving in the shadows for his return since when the Bucks fired Stotts. I think he gets too much credit among NBA ranks and too much disrespect outside, but at the moment probably he was the best available option for the Bucks.

Serious question...if you change the routine, are you getting the benefits of that routine? Like you may get other benefits for doing something rather than nothing, but if a routine is designed to trigger certain responses, wouldn't changing the routine compromise those triggers? And if so, aren't you just doing something else? For example, if I say I am going to do a lifting routine that requires that I go failure, and say that going to failure requires 12 reps....but I say that because I can only lift by myself without a spotter, so I am going to do 2 sets of 6 reps instead of the 1 set of 12 reps. I may be getting a benefit from lifting in general, but I am not doing a routine that takes me to failure, so i am not going to get the benefits of that specific routine. (This is not to ridicule the changes or suggest that this is bad in any way...I am just wondering if you are getting the benefits of the huberman morning routine or not?)

I can understand why they fired Griffin. Despite the record, there was a very clear divide between him and the players mostly on how their defense was run, and also there were issues before the season even started, like with Terry Stotts sudden departure. I don't however agree with them hiring Doc. Doc's a great regular season HC, just look at what he did with the Clippers in 2018 with his best players being Lou Will and Danillo Gallinari, but we KNOW come postseason time, he cannot make adjustments mid-series.

its called an bad hiring process, check doc last 2 hirings. Purely based on '' oh there is nobody better available '' well what about the assistant coach, looked at the bucks interm coach and atleast that man cares but he'll never EVER get an opportunity to head coach even when considering he was part off 3 different title runs SMH

If this were 1970 Rusty Buckets would be asking "Why would any football team EVER hire Tom Landry? Sure he's got a great overall record, but look at how many times he's failed in the playoffs!! He's had TEN YEARS!!" OBTW, Tom Landry is now considered one of the greatest football coaches of all time.

Coaches fall into different categories those that you bring in to whip a bad team into shape or those that you bring in to fine tune an already good team. Coaches like Doc and Kidd garner enough respect from younger players that a bad team can become decent but aren't good enough coaches to make good teams great.

They also had All-NBA Defensive Player with Jrue Holiday in the backcourt vs Lillard. Sooo, maybe that contributed to the defensive fall off. As a Lakers fan, I'd be more than happy to trade Darvin Ham for Griffin.
