Because Single drive axle rides way smoother, cab over has better maneuverability and we usually have tridem trailers which also are build stronger than these toys we have here in NA.

@@tomh9807 The shorter wheelbase and cabover does give better manoeuvrability, sight along the front. I would debate the rides being smoother. I would also think the smaller roads in older areas would have played a big part of keeping them to fit.

@@jaquigreenlees The second part of your comment i absolutely agree. The first part not so much. European cab overs also have mandatory front axle air ride. So this, too plays a big factor. Just try to drive especially over rail road tracks or uneven roads in general with a double drive axle US truck and then with a european single axle. The second axle of the US truck will always bounce back quite hard despite the air ride and effects you even harder sitting in your seat up front the faster you go over the tracks. That does not mean i am speeding over them. Of course it also depends how smooth the tracks are build in the roads , meaning if they have kind of deck plates build in on both sides or not. Mostly they don't have here in NA. But like i already mentioned double axle US trucks drive more rough believe me. I drove them for years overseas and now i have driven all US trucks brands almost for 20 years here in NA. So I have the experience to tell that single axle trucks actually drive smoother. European trucks usually have a max overall length limit for the truck and the trailer so cab over trucks with small or no sleeperberth allow for longer trailers and more cargo room. Over here in the US at least we only have a maximum length for the trailer only and the length of the truck does not factor into it allowing us to have larger sleeper berths and more overall room in the truck.

@@rangerlawrence6034 That's right. Overall length overseas is 18.75 meters which is 61 foot. But can be allowed up to 25.25 meters.Trailers usually are 13.60 meters = 44 foot compared to 53 foot= 16 meters in the US and CDN but can be longer on special heavy haul. It is best to have an overall way better quality cab over truck with single drive axle and mandatory full air ride suspension for better maneuverability and smoother overall ride than a big cab which technically nobody really needs. European cabs are already designed huge and deliver enough room where most things are designed better and within reach even from the driver seat. For a lot of things i don't have to bend or twist in order to reach it like i have to do in US cabs.
