Is art important? Art can be seen by some as useless, a cryptic pleasure for the social elite or immensely overvalued. But creating and appreciating good art should have a place in all of us! It helps us understand our emotions and thoughts, and can be an amazing source of happiness. Whether you're creating with a paintbrush and canvas, with thread and fabric, or even with numbers, science, and theories, why do you create? What passion drives you to explore and express that part of yourself?

I create because I feel something inside of me burning to come out from every loose seem in my body. Bouncing off the walls and screaming to be set free. It makes me feel like I'm filled with energy ready to break away from the world itself, pushing past boundaries and beyond what is thought to be possible. I call it passion. It gives me the uncontrollable urge to create. To run free. To inspire. To adventure. To open minds. To try and show this feeling to the world. If I didn't create I do not think that I would be able to be the person I feel like I truly am.

As a little kid in an all boys catholic boarding school, there were aspects of me that felt unexpressed & unexplored, basically I felt confined and suffocated by gender norms. So the day my little fingers learnt to picked up those brushes & pencils and started drawing it felt so liberating, the tools to create my art became my best friend and still is. Art class was my fav period in school. Even till this day I can say ART is freedom, a beautiful place I call home. :)

I create from an overdose of over-thought feelings trying to escape the waning of affect, in hopes that eventually my life will become something and I can invoke feelings, ideas, and help bring out pure emotional humanity in others as art (music specifically) has done for me. Thanks man, that felt great. Waning of affect had me down today and I didn't even know it's name till now.

I agree with most of what you said, but if we really use art as a means as looking at ourselves and our emotions why must art be beautiful? as beauty is subjective, so is art. some people find attraction towards or cathartic release in art/music/theatre others think is ugly or bold. This is something I feel is often that is often forgotten in these poetic productions that don't really prove anything. thoughts?

I think there is a Beauty in art even if it cannot be called "beautiful" as in pretty to look at. There's a deeper sense of Beauty as in Beautiful because it is meaningful.

I think I started really getting into creation when I was suffering with the worst of my depression. I would walk around feeling nothing, afraid I'd never would but then I'd go home and watch something on youtube. Something someone created and feel connected. It's when I realized that not only did seeing creation make me feel more alive than I had in a while but creating something could invoke the same feeling and so I feel in love with creating. Music. Art. Poetry. Anything and everything. Simply put if you want to create you have to live. And that's the most beautiful thing about it.

Growing up surrounded by books and sciences, I learned that Art was a mere vain expression, yet it was one I always pursue. During the last year, I went on an exchange year. A complete stranger and foreigner, I was exposed to theater, photography, and all different sorts of art. I feel in love with the humanity it gave me. Now, it's one of my priorities, because it's essential to my happiness and being. Thank you for your videos. I am taking a film class next year instead of taking a second science in IB. People discourage me about this decision. But I know for a fact that this "risk" is one I need to take. So, again, thank you for the inspiration and the amazing creation.

art is so important! (and not just because it's going to give me a job in the future.) i've done extensive research on the benefits of art and educating kids with art and there's so much good that comes with it. you can help reinforce a taught language with pictures, help kids learn science with added art, calm down someone with art therapy... the list goes on! art is so important and it isn't just for the select few; it's for everyone.

What is created is not art. What is perceived is art. Creation explores how we can put things together. Art explores how we can take things apart.

Sent this to a friend :) I think she'll like it. Meanwhile a few thoughts of my own - I am a bit jealous of your desk, I like how it's worn and there's coffee mug marks on it, and that you have all those brushes at your disposal. Then again, I'm sure if I had a desk for such things, when it was brand new, I'd be upset about spilling or leaving marks in it ... and that's a strange though all on it's own :) I recently attended a workshop with an art therapist with my co-workers (we're all psychologists), and when she introduced herself, and said we'll be, apart from conversing and going over case-studies, actually creating the strangest thing happened - I was very happy about it, but then again I knew I would be, because I like creating, but almost all of my co-workers, without fail, expressed anxiety regarding approaching the task at hand. They were anxious about what they'll make, and how it'll turn out, and labeling themselves as "un-creative" or "untalented", complaining they lack ideas ... once they started going some of them started singing to a different tune. The whole thing was a so odd to me, as someone who has always enjoyed painting and photography, and sculpting and half a dozen other weird things (seriously, every once in a while I just get craft-crazy and start a hobby, like wood-burning, and perler beads and what not :P ). Seeing other people react so differently to what I consider using another language, one that is liberating and expressive and full of feelings (positive and negative) was really an eye opening experience. And the more I thought about it, when I create, I'm usually around people who also partake in creating, because they want to do just that. There's this whole different conversation, in which it's very obvious an natural for us to be creating. Then on the other hand, I saw all of my co-workers, all of whom I respect as professionals regress into this helpless, unsure, and self-devaluating mass. And it made me wonder - when do people learn that they are "not good at .... "? and why is that what's "important"to us at all. I mean, who hasn't started sketching or writing or making something that didn't turn out quite like they wanted? we all have, why do some of us continue at it? and others take that at face-value and quit. And sure, there's a matter of varying levels of talent, not everyone is "good" right from the get go. But there's also a matter of practice and refining skills and evolving. Maybe creating is not for everyone. But I guess that what I'm saying is, people should have more courage to try, to let go of expectations every once in a while, and do something out of their comfort-zone, because they just might like it.

I need get this out of the way before I say anything else, omg baby Chase was the cutest little thing I just wanted to pinch his cheeks. ❤️ Now that, thats out of the way. Art is extremely important in all the ways you mentioned and more. For some people it's a job for others it's an escape from reality. It helps them balance their life and get out of a stressful headspace for a little bit. Art doesn't have to be a painting or drawing it can be creating videos, taking photographs or digital design (and many, many more). These videos from all the New Age Creators are always so inspiring. They want to make me get out in the world and do good with my art. Show everyone what i'm made of and capable of doing. Thank you for this. ❤️

I've been drumming for a little over 3 years now because it is a way for me to release. There is a style of drumming that I can play for any day and any emotion. Hard rock on my normal days, funk on my fun days, or jazz and slow jams on the more rainy days. music is a way for me to express what I have going on and having other people hear and appreciate my beats is unmatched.

I believe art is a gateway to one's true self. When we create, we open all our doors and allow anything and everything to come pouring out into one creation. It's one of the only times we are truly ourselves, one of the only times we get to see ourselves as a whole and that can also be scary but blissful in a way. Therefore I believe, if a creative person stops creating, they in turn, cease to exist completely. So yes, Art is extremely important :)

Art is really important because it can show case so many things such as an entire culture, history, and emotion and I think that that is so cool and people can learn together and bond together. I am not book smart what so ever but when it comes to art that's where I flourish the most. I play flute and bassoon as a form of art, and I draw, paint and make things out of clay and this is probably the best form of stress relief and self expression there is for me. Art and music saves lives, and it surely has given me meaning to mine.

I think art is definitely important! It gives us the opportunity to get away from the bad things in the world, and we escape into a whole new reality. I create to inspire. I want people to feel like their ideas are important, and that their ideas CAN make changes in the world. Maybe not everyone, but at least a few people can have a better life; all because of what you created.

I create as it gives me a way to vent myself, to show others my experiences my struggles my feelings, I feel that in the day and age of the Internet words can sometimes become less of what they are. Therefore creating allows me to show the real purpose behind the choice of words, it shows exactly what I want people to experience.

Why do I create? I create stories to draw out emotions from people and take them on a journey that I am dying to share with them. One of the greatest feelings in the world is stepping into the unknown wilderness of an idea, blazing a trail and discovering the beauty that was hidden from sight, and then leading other people down that path to share with them all of the amazing discoveries that I have found. I create to to experience the journey.

I wasn't expetiegg much from this video. Mainly because I love photography, and thats the closest to art I can do. But doesn't have much to do with me actually doing much. But I got a lot of it, especially the part of loving/seeing art(my oversimplification of what was said). And that took me back to photography, isn't it seeing the beauty in something, and capturing it. Not only things made buy people, buy things that exist in the universe, like sunsets. Maybe the reason I take photos, is to capture the painting the universe has made. Why do I create? What passion drives me? I don't know, its just something in me that tells me, I should capture that moment.

I often create when I am happy to share my happiness with others but creating when you are sad is great too. It's a way of connecting with people, and creating bonds of understanding. I believe that Art serves human connection most profoundly. A great video, as always Chase :)! I want to reach other people and touch them with my creations. Most of the time it's an emotion that I try to express through music or stories. It is almost an urge and it gives me the opportunity to relieve stress. The world wouldn't be the same without art. In my opinion creative people should get more support and should have more possibilities to educate themselves in music/ film/ art schools. Sadly I always feel like it's something people don't take as serious, especially career wise. Everyone should always be able to do what they love, and everyone should be accepted with their decision. It doesn't matter if you want to become a lawyer or a musician! Just do more of what makes you happy!

Art is important. It allows us to lose ourselves and find ourselves all at once. It drives me and gives me purpose, while clearing my head. I create because it's a part of me speaking without a literal voice. Art invokes communication through a certain void of overflowing emotion. Whenever we create something, it's as raw, vulnerable, and real as it gets.

My latest video pretty much sums up why I create... but in short, I used to create as a distraction from the noise of life - but now I make videos as a way of starting conversations with people that I hope will either change how they live, how they think, or how they feel. And well, I'm in love with the idea of being more than just dust in the corner of someone's existence. I'm in love with the idea of rather being a light that shines bright enough in their dark that I can guide them to wherever or whatever "home" is. (And yes, i'm quoting Coldplay.)

Aw! Lil baby Chase ahaha! I loved this Chase amazing work (who am I kidding, as always) Now for the question at hand. Why do I create? I create for the feelings in it. The warm happy feelings when something works out, that smile you get when someone enjoys it. Even that little bubble of anger when something doesn't quite go right. Because at the end of the day, it's got me feeling things when i thought I couldn't anymore. I create for the love of it, when you get a good idea and run with it, or find something so fun to do it doesn't feel like it could ever be work. A simple hobby can be so soothing to the aching heart of a cloudy mind.

Chase, thx for this amazing video!! Art is the way to express ourselves, the way to stress out, to make us and the rest of people happy... You've encouraged me to retake a face of me which was a bit lost ;D Thx for sharing your art :)

yess! I loove this video. I think art is the only thing that really matters. Art is everything that is beautiful and all the beautiful people in this world too. I love creating because it's the only way I can feel fulfilled, in peace, the only way I can be trully myself.

I because it's like an outlet, a window of opportunity to add a splash. I create because it helps me think straight. I create because I know that I am structured in an unstructured manner. I create because that's when I am at my best even if I'm at my worst, it's a medium that I used to turn my own pain, anguish and disgruntled thoughts into something that brings me and others joy. I'll be honest I don't do art as much as I'd like to(school gets very busy) but in those moments I get to appreciate what's in front of me and there's a lot of beauty everywhere which is also sometimes hidden in the most unexpected places. This video was awesome. Made me art and creativity further. Helped me realize that creativity and art is not conditioned to drawing, sketching, painting etc. (even though all of that is amazing). It's flexible, versatile. And whether it's drawing, writing or simply looking at the nature around me, it's where I feel closest to God.

Some people keep asking why do I make videos even though I don't have many subscribers or why do I bother myself and spend time to make them. They don't understand that I make videos just to express myself. So I believe sometimes art is necessary to express my feelings and thoughts. That way I won't be drowning in them.

Definitely agree with you!! 💖💖 Every creation has its own story and maybe only the creator know it. The feeling, the thoughts, the power, maybe that's why i love art that much😉 and "The Little Man"(?) is soo cute 😍
