@@GrayShark18 I completely agree with you, but the majority of people dont think about it in that manner. If I light a cigarette in the middle of a crowd, it's an instantaneous affect for everyone in my proximity, whereas if I crack open a beer, no one would really care. I'm just saying it's looked at differently because smoking in public forces people to breathe in that smoke, whereas drinking in public doesn't directly influence the public until a consequence rises from the action of being drunk.

You drink 4 beers you could come off your lane and crash into a bus.. it's not even the same ball park man
@apebeats66314 жыл бұрын
@@deanmeat3427 That's my point. You could chug a bottle of liquor and destroy your house all by your lonesome. I'm not defending alcohol. It's a terrible vice that kills thousands of people directly and indirectly. Yes, a drunk person can do something to harm someone just because they're drunk. But in our society, the most you see to dissuade alcohol use are "Drink responsibly" and "Don't drink and drive" ads. Whereas tobacco use is 100% negative these days. I still remember Joe Cool from my childhood. My point, and this is the last time I'm going to make it, is smoking in public directly affects anyone close enough to inhale my smoke. If I get plastered, I have to take an action to harm someone in my drunken state. Yes, they're both terrible. Yes, they both kill. Yes, alcohol is worse simply because it's promoted as a great way to catch a legal buzz. So says a man that smokes half a pack of Marlboro Red 100s daily and on occasion drinks between 1 to 4 ipa brews when the mood is right. Look at me talking shit about vices I indulge. Thank you. Mic drop.

As someone that has overdone alcohol multiple times in the past, i feel like alcohol will stay legal for a long time. I found that it kind of shuts down people. The very few dreams and goals you had, vanish when you get few shots. All of it stops mattering. Then, when addiction kicks in, the only goal in life that stays, is getting enough money just to get fucked up again. So, it will stay legal because it's profitable, even though highly destructive to society in general.

I'm not an "alcoholic" but rather a "normal drinker" by standard terms. I became a nondrinker this year - and it's been a real revelation. It takes months to see what not drinking is like (the effects linger), and how addicted we normal drinkers are. Think about it, most of us can't imagine having a good time going to a party or a game or a show without alcohol. Quitting is crazy, we think alcohol does so much for us, makes things fun, makes us relaxed, and makes us more more social. In reality, that couldn't be farther from the truth. Love my mornings now, and if I really want to treat myself to something, I'll have a little weed. Never going back to alcohol and don't miss it at all.

I'm glad that I came across this clip because, after almost a decade, I am finally coming to grips with this fact. Alcohol is just as bad or worse than any other toxic substance you can put in your body. It affects people differently. For some people, one drink can cause cravings for it for the rest of the week. A lot of times people justify these cravings, "this beer is perfect with my wings," or "one drink is basically nothing." It's all because the body is craving it. Some people are fortunate enough to where they can have a drink and not care if they had another for a month. For others, a drink is a slippery slope. I am giving up alcohol because I am tired of looking back at life and wondering what could have been if I were sober. I want to feel better. I want to have deep meaningful relationships. I want to say I've reached my potential. For all of those who are with me on this journey, congratulations. Here's an ice-water toast to all those who have decided to shed the baggage of alcoholism and propel themselves into a higher caliber of human being.

Sobriety from weed and replacing it with drinking ruined my life, destroyed my savings, and made me have the outlook "One more day closer to death". Sobriety from Alcohol, and having weed instead and my life couldn't be getting better. I got my certifications, got a solid job, and finally have had time to properly develop myself as a person thanks to the introspection weed provides. I'll be moving in with my first partner this fall, and can't even recognize the person I was when drinking. Fuck Alcohol, literal poison to body and mind.

I drink far too much alcohol and have cut back a lot recently. I really love the experiences of being drunk and normally have a fairly good control of myself, but the withdrawals the day after can be awful- massive anxiety, racing heartbeat and blood pressure through the roof. I can't stand pot however. It is the opposite of a social drug for me. I get crazy paranoia (about things that aren't real threats- like I'm going to stop breathing, or something terrible is going to happen to me), my brain works super slow and I don't feel like talking. I've had it a few times where it's kind of like I'm looking at the world through a TV screen. I like cigarettes if I'm stressed out and it really calms me if I'm worked up about something, but rarely smoke for the last 10 or so years.

Holy crap you just nailed it for me. i get on that pink cloud for a few hours, and then the cold sweats, the shaking, the anxiety.... I was prescribed Keppra for the seizures after my last one, but unless I go to the ER again, I'm gonna have to take a lot of days off to see a neurologist, who costs a lot more than a regular doc, which is something I can't afford. At least for me, explaining the situation to your job helps. Unless they are complete dicks, they will let you go to detox and keep your job.

A lot of people say weed is not for them because of paranoia. A lot of the weed that is out now is not the same potentcy people were smoking in the 70s/ 80s and early 90s. Growers focus on creating the strongest possible strains because most of the buyers are chronic smokers with high tolerance. There are low thc high cbd strains also there are two main types of weed. Indica relaxes your muscles and makes you feel sleepy while sativa keeps you energized and stimulated creative activity it is not just due to body chemistry. Would people consider mid strain in the cannabis community because they do not get them as high as really just regular weed. Canna tonic , sour tsnumai , tangelo flow are some good strains for beginners

@@Josephguestable I didn't say "everyone who drinks", some people dont get aggressive when drinking but alot of people cant control their consumption levels. Plus there not shitty comments when theres truth behind them. When you're stoned it's pretty fucking hard to start a commotion with someone and theres also information on how alcohol actually stops a specific part of your brain from functioning which is why drunks cause more problems than stoners. I'll try find the link if anyone doesn't believe it also if you think I'm having a go at you I'm not. 👍✌

I’ve struggled on and off with alcohol for a long time (12-15 years?) I’m 28 now. I wish we would be more open to the fact that alcohol is dangerous and alcoholism does run in families! My moms an alcoholic, and my grandpa I believe was one. The only talk I got was about not doing drugs. I’ve never had an issue with drugs but alcohol has severely impacted my life. I’m back on the wagon now with 4 months of sobriety.

Mom died from cancer and vodka at the same time. I was 14 and she died in my hands. I never drank my entire life, I'm 33 now. I literally hate people who tries to put their problems away using alcohol, more so who make other people addicted to it.

It’s a terrible feeling living with alcoholic parents/parent. Living with the daily fact that it will kill them and despite all you do, it’s not enough. Constantly not being yourself or comfortable because you have to walk on the edge of a explosion. And the worst is seeing them sick. I hope everyone suffering from addiction finds their sobriety.

@3-methylindole7303 жыл бұрын
You know that marijuana addiction is NOTHING compared to alcohol addiction, right? Alcohol is GABAergic. This class of drugs is the most addicting one. Alcohol is one of the few drugs where stopping cold turkey in some cases leads to DEATH. Can never happen with Cannabis. The withdrawal symptoms of alcohol are insane. Cannabis withdrawal usually is NOTHING compared to this, maybe dysphoria and insomnia for a few days. (I'm not saying Cannabis addiction is good, no addiction is good!) Also, (chronic) alcohol consumption poses some big risks for the human body, unlike Cannabis. If I had to choose between those two addictions, guess what, I'll take Cannabis, the one that doesn't kill you. This shouldn't even be a debate...

@@3-methylindole730 marijuana was the first drug addiction I ever had . And it wasn't pretty . Not too long after that I quit marijuana and became addicted to alcohol . Sure it's worse to be a drunk than a pothead but why be either one ? Why not stand out from the crowd and dare to be different and give up alcohol , cigarettes AND marijuana ? I've been addicted to all THREE and I qujt them . Almost 16 years Straight Edge right here . The same curiosity that leads you to try those things in the first place is the same kind of curiosity that leads you to wonder what life would be like WITHOUT those things .....And marijuana withdrawal was no party at all . Even started hearing voices at times .....Very strange indeed .....

@@medicah It's more about the culture built around alcohol. In ancient times, wine was the foundation of the Roman empire because it crudely cleaned water. It's also the blood of Christ, so many members of the clergy often made wine. Also, every culture that has existed has made a way to conduct alcoholic fermentation. It's very difficult to separate something so easy to make from humans.
