Yeah, not. He's always performed for the outrage. You for example, have the guts to say Palestinians are not semites, to toe the Israeli line since its inception as the state supported by the UK to solve "the Jewish question". You have guts, that's what you have. You ahve some balls to still support that, eradication of SEMITES which Arabic is one language of, along with Hebrew. You can make a perfromance that you jsut "love everybody" but fundamentally you side with "Semites belong to Israel, so semd European Jews there, and send Israeli Arabs to Egypt". Morrissey is parodying YOU. When YOU are doing just the same as "Americans" do when their "natives" are treated like animals in weird reservations mismanaged under Bureau of INDIAN Affairs. Israel is UK's horrid project like US Rhodesia and Liberia. They erase the identity of semites even THREE generations down because Palestinians would otherwise come out as ELIGIBLE for Israeli citizenship, due to them GETTING ALONG. YOUR state of England can never get along past skin color, but even less so WITHIN a skin color. Brother-war between semitic Arabs and Jews, or Brits and Germans.

You can not separate an artist from their art especially when it comes to music. Art is fundamentally a reflection of the artist's beliefs, emotions and ideas and is what makes art enjoyable. The art created is a piece of that artist's soul who made it...Also as someone else said in the comments "your takes are half assed" is pretty valid. as a fan of morrissey, i hold my own biases, but i felt that this was a very shallow take on this topic. it’s as if most knowledge in this video stems from articles and reddit posts jumbled together. reading his autobiography might help one develop a deeper and more well-informed opinion of the man, even though the book isn’t the greatest. with morrissey, it isn’t exactly “he is a bad person” it’s “he is a bad person, but…” yes, he is a devious, truculent, and unreliable prick, but a lot of what he’s said has been taken out of context, and most were off-the-cuff comments another thing, johnny marr shouldnt be pictured so saintly. he was also involved in the 40-40-10-10 split, was he not? he’d be in a lot more hot water if he wasn’t so diplomatic, something morrissey doesn’t exactly care for. this also rings true for robert smith, as they were both quite petty during their rivalry personally, i dont think it’d be the same if morrissey wasn’t an opinionated bastard, and this is because the meaning of many songs would change. even though i dont agree with his views, i love him for his humor, voice, lyrics, and outspokenness. i agree with separating the art from the artist-which you had mentioned at the start of the video-so that sort of clashes with your ending statement. in my opinion, by only listening to the smiths, that also means missing out on moz’s solo work-which really does have some great songs
@Krysiss
@Krysiss 3 ай бұрын
Good points but yea at the end of the day he's still a bad person as you said. @tutubism
@tutubism 3 ай бұрын
Agreed, such a shame this video sort of contradicts the separate the art over artist thing. I don't know if he was aware of his own hypocrisy but I don't think it matters.. You're also spot on of why i like much of Morrissey's music and some of his traits 👍 I've also admired or look up to countless tragic & controversial figures in music history apart from Morrissey (Prince, John Lennon, Bowie, Marvin Gaye, Freddie Mercury, Kurt Cobain, Satie, Tschaikovsky, etc.) I am not justifying any bad behaviours since mistakes is natural & no one's really "perfect". I've also grown past that point of tying to choose a side instead of addressing the actual issue. I find it ironic that those nagging & overly righteous types are no better than the same people they are trying to criticize. I think antagonizing or mocking an individual just because they did or say something wrong or that their views does not align with your own doesn't do anything except intensify the situation by creating more hostility and conflict. It's also important to set boundaries on people who are too difficult to deal with. Learning to be honest, empathic & open communication is the key tool to form authentic interactions & healthy stable relationships imo.

How exactly is he a bad person though? He doesn't like Pakistanis? And, he's gay, they don't like him either. Considering what they'd do to him if they could, his distaste for them is perfectly reasonable and entirely justified. Don't forget, he's probably had more experience with them than you in that respect. I'd wager they were possibly less radical back then, or at least less brave in their homophobia. Today, it's amazing how the far left lie to themselves about that alliance and attempt to hide, wave away or simply just ignore the incredibly comical levels of homophobia inherent in Islam and coming from Muslims. His views on the Chinese? Meh, all of them was it, or just the meat eaters? Neither of us can read minds. Do you endeavour to see the best in people, or the worst? From my own experiences with veggies, he's likely referring to meat eaters, and unlikely the worst he's said about us to be honest. Let's not ignore that the Chinese were probably still eating dogs at that time (perhaps what Morrissey was angry about? I didn't hear the context, no idea of what he was referencing, such is the hit piece playbook), mostly due to being poor and a communist country having shitty supply lines, which is totally unusual under communism. They were still considered third world until fairly recently, so it weren't just your favourite pet on the menu. I don't blame him for his anger if such is the context, but then to blame the Chinese people themselves for eating what valid protein they could get under communism, that's a bit lacking in empathy. But don't eat fido, come on man, an Englishman can't tolerate that. Have you never said anything fucked up, such as referring to those you ideologically oppose as less than, perhaps insinuated something akin to the average tory as a streak of piss with an inbred desire to kick the poor? Shit, I bet you've had the gall to refer to that lanky posh twat, whas his name, comically posh accent and still had a nanny? Meh, you know to whom I refer, he's a streak of shit that gained some degree of sentience and donned a suit, and somehow got voted into parliament and, again, somehow no one has yet to see him kicked to the kerb. You know you've some incredible views on him, and words so scathing as to be considered hate speech were they levelled at an actual human being. With all the pointing of fingers these days, it's amazing we've any eyes left.

Morrissey has inspired so many people to become vegetarians and while I do not agree with some of his outspoken views , I think that without reading his biography or going into great detail to understand him that you’re only scratching the surface. I am not here to argue if he is a good or a bad person. To me he has said stupid things. And he has even kicked fans out of concerts . He has sued journalists for defaming him and other things I do not agree with . But I love his singing and his music means a lot to me . The fact that he is saving animals lives with songs like meat is Murder and being a strong candidate for animal rights is a great act of kindness to all living animals on this earth. I enjoy his solo music a lot and have seen him live . I do wish he would not antagonise people, however I believe that if people do not stand up for their beliefs then the world would be a place where no one is held accountable for their actions . Morrissey may not be perfect but he has definitely helped a lot of people to feel less alone and no I do not agree with racism of any kind . Anyway I am not here to argue . 2:34 "Unknown Pleasures" did not completely define the music of 80s Britain, that is prepostorous thing to say. Unknown Pleasures and Joy Division in general have sort of a renaissance among mainly North American youthi in the 21st century, but they were not that influential in the 1980s. "Blue Monday" by New Order was far more influetial on the music of 80s Britain than anything by Joy Division. Young people (Millennials and Gen Z) are reinterpreting history to try and view it in a way they feel comfortable with. But the 1980s isn't a decade that most of you would have liked to have lived in. Morrissey was no more of a dick in the 1980s than most older people back then. People in 1980s Britain (especially in Northern England) were not that sensitive to insults or slagging people off (especially people in other bands, and other artists). It was part of the culture. British bands and artists dissed each other all the time in the music papers, slagging other people off was part of the air that people breathed. Music journalists did it all the time. Morrissey gave back as good as he got.

I actually love Morrissey and he's been my hero for as long as I can remember. My dad's been a massive Smiths fan since they were active, so naturally they and Morrissey played around the house my whole upbringing, so I'll admit some bias. But it's asking an extraordinary amount to actively dislike someone and boycott their work over compiled comments over years of media scrutiny. Some of my best friends in the real world have political and social beliefs that stand absolutely against how I feel. I love them nonetheless for their qualities and good. I'm also willing to understand that intelligent people say ridiculous things when passions are high. I'd tend to imagine the subspecies comment for instance wasn't targeted at the entire Chinese population when the topic of discussion was wet markets. It's the type of thing where I'm sure despite foolishly hasty wording that PewDiePie doesn't hate black people. The enigmatic frontman of The Smiths made me who I am today. The solo singer I saw in Birmingham one rainy October night made my year. I don't mind if he votes a different party to mine.

I think most people assume that if you like a band’s songs, you have to like everything about the band and what they say. Why is that? Perhaps it’s because the songs are often so personal that the listeners feel they must have so much in common with them, as if they are soulmates. That’s a bit ridiculous. I’m not sure if I’d get along with any of my favourite singers just because I like their songs.

Exactly. This was such a shallow dive into Morrissey's views and opinions. If this guy thinks that it is unarguably a good thing that the English should become more and more of a minority in their country as is inevitable given the figures and the longstanding domestic policies which drive the figures ever upwards, then that is an opinion which he has every right to hold, and Morrissey believes that it is a bad thing. Many of us agree with Morrissey. We are not hateful. Human beings throughout the millennia all over the world would have agreed with Morrissey, yet this guy won't give it a second's thought. I wonder why.

@@scunner6828People have been saying this exact thing since Morrissey was young. There is an integral Englishness that is also defined by the people who come to England, look at how English culture has been shifted by people from the West Indies, people from South East Asia, hell even Ireland. I'm not going to put a value judgement though. If you prefer how England used to be, that's your prerogative but I would say that it is influenced by an idealism for a time that never truly existed. The reason people dislike Morrissey's comments on immigration and the population composition is that he views these people as inferior and diluting.

Well, it is valid. His parents were immigrants - they were not from the UK and they're not English. Irish people were horribly discriminated against in England for years. Have you never heard of "No Irish, No Blacks, No Dogs"? That was a sign that landlords used to put in windows when Irish IMMIGRANTS came looking for somewhere to live. John Lydon, another child of Irish immigrants, used it for the title of his autobiography.
@MattPuxty
@MattPuxty 8 күн бұрын
@@ICT17The idea that those signs were widespread in the UK is a complete myth. It’s been debunked many times. Obviously racism and prejudice existed but not to the extent you’re talking about. That’s the precisely the kind of attitude you should have about your adopted country.

@@MattPuxty I didn't say it was widespread, I said it existed, there's no need for you to misrepresent what I said to make your counter-argument. I also didn't say anything about the extent of the prejudice but that, as you've just admitted, it existed. By the way, John Lydon's parents had no need to tell him he should consider himself British, that was his right, he was born here, this isn't his "adopted country". A more pertinent question would be whether his parents considered themselves British or Irish. I can guess what the answer to that would have been.

Dont mean to be rude, but this is not very good man. It sort of accomplishes the goal of the title, in a many citations way, but theres no point. I dont think moz or anyone else in the world really cares if people they revile dont like them back. If he had been afraid to make a statement the smiths wouldve likely been just a local group. Turns out not giving a shit and saying what needs to be said will take you far- theres millions in agreement that dont have the leverage to use their right to speech. Thank you morrissey for not giving anyone a pass for being any given color or political stripe. Everyone else has, and its become pretty evident a culture of inability to do or be wrong has not worked out for anyone. Those who think anyone else is above criticism long for such protectionism for themselves, if anyone was wondering why a certain political sphere has such a p3do problem. The smiths are not for most of the simply depressed and angry people that like the tunes. Its for people who can tell how genuinely backwards and self defeating modern western culture has become. Its about societal rot coming from a million directions, tip top and very bottom, and it would be disingenuous at the very least to have just ignored certain facets. If you hate morrissey, theres probably a lot about yourself you dont like, which is normal; its what you do with it. If the answer is not own up and to seek protection, youll get it, probably with detriment to those around you. Its all very self serving and were screwed if the cynics give up. Im not a vegan, i accept his criticism and his right to it. The industry i rely on for food is amoral. There was a time when i didnt know who he was, when i hated him for it. I was trying to avoid admission of complicity. My brain painted him as a hateful douche to protect itself. Morrisseys philosophy helped me to get over imperfection. Most people could do a bit less enforced unassailability of culture and practice, itll make you a smarter, more self reflective person, even though the average idiot will see it as self absorbtion. Its liberating, really, to get proof that theyll come down on you for the crime of coming down on them, and the only difference is the opinion. None you are without sin, so stop pretending and sack up to such issues as "maybe a huge influx of the worlds unskilled labor wasnt a huge favor to england" just as it was wrong for england to just take india. Theyre not mutually exclusive, and you dont have to tie your head in knots to avoid acknowledging flaws in humanity that are universal. If everyone is equal, then everyone is equally a tool of some idea or power. no more excuses for humans is the jist of the philosophy.

Its just that you dont like it, that doesnt make anything a nothingburger dude. This is analysis of creativity, its all very ephemeral and subjective. I threw my 2 cents in on a bit of a hitpiece that reeked of action-reaction knee-jerkism, but was very much representative of "why people hate morrissey" or moreover "why i dislike morrisseys attitude and politics". People hate morrissey because he doesnt care that people hate him, and that doesnt fit in with the modern moral democracy of whos allowed to talk. Im glad people weigh in on this music, but it just wont change that some people have a static worldview and probably should just stick to things they understand. Im not out here trying to teach a monkey to read, man. If youve got personal beef about the falling reputation of immigration in the uk, thats a you problem. If you hate vegans, you problem. If it really ties you in knots that a singer you dont know is a bit of a stuck up queen, you problem. I dont appreciate your derision of cogent points because you have a thorn in your jock. Got something to say in argument, say it, be a fcking adult. If the problem is "meat is murder" then make that point for consideration. I still eat meat, my point was every single one of you is an insufferable asshole even if you dont know it, everyone is, and people get butthurt when you point out that our species maps across history like bone cancer on the earth. They get mad that human altruism lives alongside lust and greed that take the wheel more often than not. He seems very annoyed that people in general aren’t bothered about the things in life that he’s concerned with, people do have a varying view of poetry, and perhaps he assumes what other people says and does always stands in a direct correlation to how talented they are and ignoring the fact it could be deliberate choice. Seemingly he doesn’t take other peoples tastes or opinions into account which happens to be a typical personal trait of what is often called a true artist. I also believe these (strong) feelings has been a huge vehicle in his songwriting.

She also has no idea about the 1992 Finsbury Park gig in which Morrissey supported Madness. The area was in no way overrun with race based violence - where did she get that nonsense from? Morrissey was actually bottled off when he came on stage in the Union Flag - a misguided attempt at patriotism in a county that automatically sees this flag and the St. George cross as symbols of racism . It's called opinion, people seem to want to like the same thing so you can feel a common ground, that's what's wrong with today, is if you're going to separate the music from the person then you need to understand your own reason why, I can understand why people don't fancy Morrissey but he's si ply just who he is and an artist to his own fashion of what HE thinks is proper to him in sound and ideal, it's also a brit fing bruv haha Liam is the same way haha but I think Morrissey is not only an outstanding vocalist and frontman but he stands on what he enjoys and doesn't care if anyone likes or doesn't like what he thinks, he just feels his ideal is right, arrogant or not, he is true about what he thinks🙏🏽

Artists will have controversial opinions. Feel free to disagree and dislike him but respect his opinions no matter what. If he were a prick but his views were aligned with the globalists politics he would still be spolighted at the pinnacle of the media. For me the fact that he defends his opinion and dares TO BE HIMSELF makes me like him and follow him even more. Or the story about "BEING YOURSELF" is acceptable only if you align with the globalist lefties?

Nice try... You MISSED the rest of his sentence, he said they were *ONLY* BECAUSE of their cruelty, torture, violence and killing of animals (who are voiceless), because of the nation’s track record of animal welfare, etc. NOTHING TO REPORT HERE, JUST PROPAGANDA/CLICK BAIT!
