I like your new format with personality. Typically your mechanics on replacement videos perform their duties very dry and machine like, never smiling, like a Walmart zombie. Loved the edit panning the car on the ground going to it on the lift. Your videos are always technically terrific, photographed perfectly, and very useful.

I don't change my oil. I simply drop a new engine in my car every 20,000 miles.

Like how hard is it too do this it’s a simple check especially on older vehicles it’s important to keep an eye on the level. I’ve never went over my oil change intervals and check my oil regularly. Like it’s simple.

black oil is normal in diesels, but mine actually is still fairly yellow/clean after 1k miles on the change, so if they are super maintained, diesel can run clean oil

My mom took her 2012 Chevy Malibu to a Walmart automotive center on January 27, 2023. She has never missed an oil change since she has had it. She noticed the oil light on the next day after the oil change and that the sticker in the corner identified when the last oil change was. She took it back and the mechanic said nothing was wrong they had just forgotten to reset it. Last night the car got really quiet like it had stopped running. She thought the battery had died. The car started knocking when she checked the oil level there was none in it. Now it looks like we are out of a car with no money to buy a new one.

Love your videos. I learn alot from them and sometimes buy parts from you as well. Your channel is one of my favorites. Question- you mentioned upper knock. Do you mean in the head and valves or piston and rings ? Thanks for helping me and others to save a ton of money.

Any ideas or experience you have is greatly appreciated! Hello all! This is my first Nissan Pathfinder. I have always wanted one since the late 1990s. It's a 1998 SE 3.3L, automatic transmission, 167,000 miles on it. I got it at an estate sale for $2,000. It has a loud knock or tap that happens part-time and so far it's not been resolved. I'd really appreciate it if anyone could point me to anything to check next, or describe if you had similar problems with yours. I've run the motor minimally...only to troubleshoot. Here's what it does and what I've done: 1. When it's first started, it knocks for less than 1 second and then gets entirely quiet. I hear maybe 2 knocks when it first starts. Then, when the motor is accelerated to 2000 RPMs it begins to knock and it keeps knocking until 3000ish RPMs. It increases in speed as the RPMs increase. If I let off the accelerator it stops knocking. When it's higher than 3,000 RPM it goes away. So it's in this midrange RPM the knock is present. It does this sitting still, or driving it. The rig was very sheltered it's whole life from what I can tell. It was driven lightly by an elderly lady. It's in immaculate condition, inside and out. Garaged. Paint and interior is perfect. Motor starts, idles and runs great other than the knock. Oil is full. I dropped the oil pan and checked the main and rod bearings. There was not any play. I changed them anyways. Noise persisted. There was some material in the pan's bottom, about 1/3 tablespoon (1 teaspoon) of what seemed to be fine wear material. Which I would think is normal for 167,000 miles. 2. It has a P1400 error code, for the EGR solenoid. I have not chased that yet. I don't find where this would cause a knock though. 3. The transmission fluid is 1 to 2 quarts low (based on my guess from stick reading), but the noise does not seem to be coming from the transmission, and the vehicle moves and drives fine. No slippage. What could be causing this part-time knock? Hydraulic lifters? Timing belt slap? Harmonic balancer? Cracked flexplate? The noise seems too loud to be the lifters, and doesn't do it at low RPMs like lifters usually do. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hello. I did the oil change on my 2008 Mercury Grand Marquis 25k miles. replaced oil filter and forgot to remove old oil filter gasket. start the engine for about 3 minutes oil spill out and only 1 QT of oil left in the engine. Does the engine got any damage? Thank You!

Do Jeep owners just not know how to change their oil? I've heard a jeep go by with actual rod knock, and the others usually have some sort of valve tick or engine knock

my petrol car has started making clack clack noise mostly between 35 and 40 kph the moment i hit the acceleration it stops it happens not very often but its more frequent now i service and change oil every 3 months

The car Maintainance starts with oil changes , every driver should at least know that , but what about you take your car every 3000 miles for that purpose for 20 years and 104000 miles , but the engine gets too dirty and fails and needs a replacement? ??? By the way when is a valve cover gasket recommended, before it starts leaking and the "red low engine oil and leak " comes on! Thanks!

My husband's 99 Chevy s10 2.2 has a knock like that and when he took the oil cap off to change the oil and it doesn't appear to have water in the oil but the oil looks thick and almost like a tar substance what could cause this?

Using too much dirty lube oil is risky engine parts.need to change oil regualry over 5000 miles.
