Oversquare is to improve horsepower not torque. Bigger valves can fit in the larger surface area for more flow and the shorter stroke *reduces* stress on the rods at the high rpm that are necessary to flow the air through the bigger valves.

Right. Stroker engines are the ones that hit very high piston speeds even at lower RPM than an oversquare design.

Everything you guys talked about I had on my 017 Ducati V4s. I just stepped Up to the 022 V4R that sucker is a monster. Honda realized that there's a market for high dollar, high horsepower race inspired motorcycles that Ducati figured out years ago. Suzuki tried with the 1000rr but not quite, they're tried to keep it affordable. I say welcome to the 200+ horsepower club, good job Honda, I hope to see one on my local track soon. Before anyone says anything about the H2, it's great for straight line, you get it on the track and it handles like a brick in mud. It's too bulky and heavy with no cornering ability at all.

Usually any litre class superbike is 200hp and after some changes in the exhaust and ecu they're normally 200+ hp.. the panigales v4r and this cbr is not expensive because of the power, it's expensive because of it's components.. just like bmw s1000rr is

Agreed about the V4R, its insane cause in India they killed 300cc class by pulling off R3, Ninja 300 and now Rc390 is going to be redesigned to some trash can and than there's BS6. I thought eventually everything will die off but as 300cc are getting weaker and shit but holy!! 1000cc are getting lighter, faster and more powerful. Damnnn

@@kestrel3509 i think that when r3 euro 5 comes then there'll be a bs6 model for india maybe next year or so.. but ninja 300 already has a bs6 model.. and rc390 is literally a low class bike now in india because it's got that bad reputation now because of some bad drivers and squids.. but their is rr310 and bmw 310 but they're only single cylinder

how do you think that horsepower is calculated? oversquare designs favor high rpm and allows the engine to make torque at higher rpms which leads to increased HP. HP=(TQxRPM)/5252. You can't make more HP without increasing torque

@@utleykyle You have the correct formula, but seem to misunderstand its application. As rpm goes up, torque, in an internal combustion engine goes down. Look at any torque / horsepower plot. Horsepower can go up even though torque decreases, because there are more power pulses per minute.

oversquare is good for making torque at higher revs. you can't have horsepower without torque. they're mathematically interconnected.

Funnily enough it isn't the most expensive bike in Honda's lineup with the top trim Goldwing clocking in at a whopping 32,600$ MSRP and an accessory catalogue that can bring the bike to over 39,000$.

It is a great looking bike! I understand static weight isn't valuable especially in a few dozen bolts but where are the carbon wheels? Is a WAY OVER THE TOP dash really that difficult eg if my microwave can play me a little tune after reheating my dinner a 30 grand bike can have a bit more enjoyable dash experience and my god man trouble some pearl in that red....where is the leathers and sun glassses appreciation kit?

Fancy Ohlins suspension with ELECTRONICS. MY 199 hp 2O15 S1000RR with ELECTRONIC suspension DDC, DTC, Engine Breaking, Autoblip, Brembo Brakes (with steel braided lines) and exhaust valve is feeling so old and outdated right now. If it just had the HRC sticker and Winglets…….

the semi-active ohlins are nice, but they are more road than race, in fact as far as racing goes, they are very soft. The real wsbk ohlin fork build is about $15k per fork, and for good reason, easier to adjust manual than it is electronic, easier to service, faster to service/adjust, plus manual suspension is lighter as there is no need to add a second ecu for the semi-active ohlins. As an SP2 owner, i have no desire to own this bike, if given one or a good enough 2nd hand deal comes up why not, but I barely am able to pull 10% of what my SP2 can do. Man handling a 1000cc bike, let alone a very peaky race specified 1000cc bike this aggressive is nearly impossible unless you spend every day on track and have tons of sponsors to rebuild once you wreck out.

Titanium has an elastic modulus of 120 GPa whereas steel is 210 GPa. This means that if you had two bolts that were the same size, one titanium and one steel, and then you stretch them, the titanium bolt would stretch more for a given force i.e. the steel bolt is stiffer. This might be why Honda chose to use steel bolts in some locations. For example, the cylinder head bolts have to take all the force from the explosions and keep the head gasket under pressure so perhaps they chose to use steel here for the added stiffness/rigidity? Dunno, it's just speculation.

In my humble opinion this is the sexiest street bike ever built. I own 4 Hondas right now. If the discs in my back aren’t trashed from 34 years of riding, I’d happily throw down 30k for this bike.

It's a superb piece of engineering and probably the ultimate track bike but it's NOT a good road bike, it's not a patch on the previous Fireblade SP and it costs 50% more.

Titanium bolts while light and strong will have galvanic corrosion with aluminum way way way worse then steel will also galling with titanium parts is a legit concern which is why there’s not really any titanium pistons or really any titanium part where it may have a lot of sliding or rubbing agains other metals.

That is one sick ass bike!....get stock one for 18-19k OTD so really it's 10k over that......brakes, susp, weight, motor, exhaust, electronics yeah for sure it's worth the price.....problem is I would never use it to it's potential so it doesn't make sense.....1000cc is more than I could use.......std cbr 1000 and some cash left over would be my choice.....and even though I have 890 I will have a liter bike someday......its friggen gorgeous and paint is perfect.......beautiful bike man If money wasn't a concern I would take this over stock one.....even if I could use it to it's potential....am sure the benefits still stand out at slower speeds

Ducati cost 30k+ because its top edge technology. Honda cost 30k€ because they want it to be a panigale v4. Its not worth 30k tech wise.

I dont know how the money translate but in Australia this bike will set us back 65k so 35 American doesnt seem that bad. A 2021 r1 or r1 from its last gen release was setting us back $25,000 au dollars then for a r1m i THINK it was sitting at $30,000

So we don’t understand bore/stroke ratios and their relationship to torque, rpm, piston speed, valve size, or valve masking. We definitely don’t understand that brake fluid doesn’t “move down the line”. We think the minuscule weight saved by replacing steel bolts with titanium is somehow valuable. And finally we think the suspension doesn’t absorb bumps except when the bike is vertical. Great work, Boys.
