I've have a Twizy, a purple and white 2016 model, you need to experience the joy of driving one when it's raining or in the middle of winter!!! 😂 I will say one thing, you get a LOT of attention driving one, forever having people come up and ask about it, I've also driven alongside Ferraris and everyone were looking at me.

Battery rental for the Twizy wasn't €10 a month. It was SIXTY EUROS! And that was the cheap rate, if you covered any distance at all, it would go up to up to €100! That assured that the Twizy (which I adore) made zero financial sense to buy, because the Twizy itself cost €8000. And that was not just without battery, but also without doors. It is stupidly expensive for what it is and if you buy one second hand and you want to buy the battery, it will cost you near enough what a new one costs. Renault made sure to kill the Twizy stone dead, I have no idea how it still exists.
@toyotaprius7910 ай бұрын
The rental was the exact same as the passenger ZOE. It was a compromise that wasn't fully thought out. The idea was that Renault would upgrade or replace the 22kWh battery should it ever go wrong (showing the distrust inside Renault). Turns out, most batteries not only outlive their warranty, but as you said the battery rental became toxic for second hand buyers. So they're kinda a minefield for unsuspecting second hand punters.

It's classed as a low speed quadricycle, suitable for city traffic non car licence drivers.

I wish Renault took the Twizy more seriously. It's the exact same tech from 2011 with no updates other than a pizza box version

I'm not sure if any adults actually use these. The main market is local delivery and Teens because of the lower age requirement for this class of vehicle. (That's why the low top speed)

6:22, I'm pretty sure *even* my 2019 Nissan Leaf SV Plus is faster than a Twizy 😹🤣 7:47, fun fact that's a type e/f plug....which is used in more than just France! 😹 Even though it sucks, I could see this traveling through some of the *really* narrow streets in France and Spain.....
@ElectrekGarage10 ай бұрын
Everything is faster that a twizy! And yeah I know the plug well, I've traveled internationally a bunch but I just like making fun of French people.

i have the 80km/h version and thats total different "vehicles" i swapped the battery to a newer 20kwh version what gives around 250-300km range and also opened the control unit with an ovms, now it drives up to 110km/h if you have your own battery you nearly pay nothing for the car, insurrance and taxes for this vehicle and electricity also is much more cheaper than every normal car so the main purpose of this vehicle is to Save money and get nearly everywhere a parking space even in the big citys in contrast to other cars. I mean you cant compare the most US cars with european cars anyway. Maybe thats the point the Twizy never got sold in the US PS: the 45km/h version you review was produced for people whitout a driver licence to drive at 14+ years in many countrys of the eu and dont forget in the Eu a driver licence are not cheap they varies from 1-3 months of an salary in the most countrys

@Kevin-hp5fk11 ай бұрын
So... You did no research on this at all. Right. The twizzy is part of a class of vehicle in France that can be driven by young teenagers. It's the only country it's truly designed for. It's sold in other places in the EU, because if someone actually wants one then it doesn't hurt Renault to sell them one. For what it's designed to do, it's a great vehicle that gives mobility to others who couldn't drive.
@drumbrakes11 ай бұрын
Yes. A very important point! in France you can drive this aged 14+ with no licence. Many Europeans will use this as an alternative to a scooter for getting about town (European towns don't usually have highways passing through them, so 45kph is enough) Take a look at the Citreon Ami for a new rival to the Twizzy.

When you say "Ladies and Gentlemen And of course everybody inbetween", that includes the French (Some of the most inbetween people in history! e.g. Spain & Germany). So to later announce you hate them is confusing, especially if it's because they use the same type of plug as most of the planet.

It’s not a car! Did you not do any research at all? It’s basically an e-bike or a golf kart. But if we’re gonna “hurdurr why does it exist” it’s because it’s insanely practical for most people. Hummers shouldn’t exist. These should be everywhere.
