Thanks for the video! I noticed pretty much all new builds in chapel hill/Durham area are lacking basements, but older homes seem to have them. Is this because the climate is changing, buyers realized basements are problematic, builders are trying to maximize profit, all these reasons, or other reasons?

THat's a great point. I think it can be damp in our basements and it does cost more to make them. It is just easier to pour a slab than build a basement. The older homes more times than not have a basement ---more like a cellar. Not something too terribly amazing. And usually harder to make into something great - they are often below ground and very low ceilings and dark.

I'm from MI and I would love to move to NC because of it's nicer weather. Our weather is like rollercoaster. Do houses have crawlspace in NC? Also where do they install the furnace?

The weather would be WAY better here! I promise you. We have basements (not as many as up north) crawlspaces and slabs. We have a cellar - and our furnace is down there. Sometimes they are in the attic
