May be they're not aware that St. Paul, Jesus Christ and many others mentioned in the Bible were not married. In my opinion I think they read what suits them. They don't read it holistically. St. Paul said there are 3 types of eunuchs.

I am Catholic. The celibate priest thing is the main reason for all the gay priests and child molesters.

I thought all the while why most priest NVR got married is cuz they got dumped or got their hearts heartbroken by their girlfriends; also, most of them they're like 'torpe' like they couldn't even approach a girl of their choice because most of the girls they liked are like 'high maintenance type' or either that they're like the guy in Shallow Hal the movie Mauricio Hal's best frend.

I affirm your zeal and feel the same way regarding protestant. However the catechism teaches though it may be imperfect communion, men who believe in Christ and have been properly baptized have the right to be called Christian and are our brothers. Hope this helps!

I'm not a Catholic but I believe it was one of the Popes around the year 1100 AD who looked around an saw that priests were aquiring land, property and other tangible items of wealth. The Pope for a lack of a better word decreed that priests must be celibate. The reasoning for this the if priests were not married there would have no living relatives in which to pass their possessions and wealth on to. Eventually you would get to a place where all those that are married would die off and through attrition less and less assests would be transfered to family members. It just just dawned on me that even if a priest was celibate it does not preclude him from owning land or accumulating other forms of wealth. The difference is that when he dies he has no direct descendants in which to bequeath his wealth or assests to they then becme the property of the Pope or the Church or both.

@@nategraham6946 single life is a choice. The Priest knew full well he had to stay single as a Priest, thus, he choose to be single. He was not forced into Priesthood, it was his choice to become a Priest and to remain single.

One of the popes Gregory (can't remember the no.) imposed celibacy, because the nobility, was offering remuneration to priests, in exchange for absolution from sins, in which these lordlings wanted to keep perpetually indulging, especially adultery. The priests desperately needed the money to feed their families. No families, and they were free from the imposition of immoral nobility. Look it up. Church history is not kept secret.

Most of the Apostles were married already though, and they required bishops and deacons to be married only once, so celibacy would be required if said wife died.

This is why Orthodox allows priests to get married. They take Paul at his word when he said, if you burn with passion, get married.
