Since the inception of the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative in 2015, Priscilla Chan and her husband, Mark Zuckerberg, founder of Facebook, have committed more than $6.4 billion to scientific research. They've also pledged to devote 99% of their Meta stock over their course the course of their lives to philanthropy. And a major part of this money is focused on one specific goal that they've set for that organization, curing, preventing or managing all disease by the end of the century.
Priscilla Chan spoke with Fortune, the first interview she's had since giving birth to her third daughter, Aurelia, about the progress she's made with the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative for the past 8 years. They ultimately want people healthy and keep people well in order for humanity to be their best productive selves.
She also discusses how CZI wants to make sure they're supporting children in the classroom as they develop and how they need to be supported. They want to help the kids beyond the work in the classroom, giving them a sense of belonging and well-being everyday so they can thrive.
