Very good review. It nicely highlights why this game has become a favorite for me and my friends. The criticism is fair and I also feel that it doesn't get in the way of this game being amazing. Regarding the cheaper good cards I think the intent is to make early reveals more tempting so you will give up some actions to obtain them but can occasionally just luck into getting them.

Have never played that game, but could card imbalance be fixed by small stickers ? Did you try nerfing the spice master?

Of course you can. You can also just take out some cards that are too strong or that no one wants to buy, since there are enough cards in total.

2-3 hours for a game? For my group it's usualy 45 minutes and never more than 60 minutes

I hate combat in ganes. But the reason i think it works here, is because it doesnt feel like combat, its really an area majority mini game each round that you commit resource to.
