Eddyline Kayaks have been designing and manufacturing kayaks for over 50 years and have learned a thing or two along the way. The folks that own and paddle Eddylines are all passionate about their crafts and often own several models in their fleet. Dan and Ethan breakdown what hits their heartstrings about Eddyline and invite you to check one out at your local Eddyline Dealer.

Proud owner of a new Caribbean 12FS. So glad I learned about thermoforming and Eddyline before I went to buy a new kayak. The research I conducted and demo I took sold me.

I paddled an Eddy line rec boat. That I had only sat in twice before for less than a few hours. Then raced it 100 miles. For a time of 13:12:34. Taking a 4th place in the Adventure Class. Besting out the Competitive Class 3rd place time of 13:30:10. And that was with having to deviate 15 minutes to assist in a boater in distress rescue. I will say, Eddy line makes a good boat.

I believe, if I remember correctly. It was a Fathom boat.

Really nice video I currently have a 2017 Pungo 120. I want to upgrade to a recreational or touring boat with more cargo space. I am considering a Tsunami 145 or 165 or, if I can find a decent one, a Pungo 140. I paddled a Tsunami 140 for a few hours and really liked it EXCEPT the deck height has to short and my size 12 feet were really cramped height wise. My heels were touching and it was not comfortable after a few hours. But I did like feeling like I was in full contact with the boat. I also liked the primary and secondary stability of the boat. So Eddyline has caught my eye. 1) How is the vertical foot room? I see that the eddylines have a kind of raised deck profile in the foot area. 2) We run a lot of rivers, that mean banging off rocks and other junk. How tough are these, really.? As tough as a roto molded boat?

The Sitka XT has a ton of foot room. You should check it out. In 25 years of carrying demoes, I have never had a damage I’ve needed to fix. The type of paddling wear you are wearing a helmet is where I think Poly is a better choice but bonks and scrapes are not an issue. Also, super easy to touch up and/or repair. Poly as they get bigger don’t keep shape as well and poly is terrible for abrasion (material is soft) and abrasion is way more common than loaded impact. The majority of damage I see are people dropping boats off of cars or improper storage and not through paddling.

@@HappyPaddlin Thanks for the thoughtful reply. Yeah I am pretty aware of Eddyline from Headwater' videos. I need to get past the cost... But I just got my annual bonus too :o). Yup oil canning is an issue with Poly boats. I will look into an Eddyline.

I just bought an Eddyline Sitka LT in yellow (so excited!!) Can you share which spray skirt you have and where I can get it? Any preferred top rack transport system you recommend for a smaller Subcompact SUV type of car?

I use Yakima on my rigs and am happy with their products. I mostly use a stacker and their bar pads. I find them the most versatile for what I do. As far as skirts, check out Level Six! They may some great neoprene skirts. Outdoorplay.com sells them.

how do they compare with Delta Kayaks ?
@HappyPaddlin
@HappyPaddlin Жыл бұрын
I’m working up a blog post making some observations on this over at happypaddlin.com In short, they are very different in design which make them feel very different on the water so while they both thermoform their models, it’s kind of an Apple to Orange in comparison once you get them on the water. Eddylines and Deltas definitely also have different “fits” for the paddler and when it comes to touring that is very important. I do raise my eyebrow on the way they thermoform their cockpit coaming and thigh padding area out of the deck material. It’s something that is done for savings in manufacturing vs a better value to the paddler and both those areas see lots of flex, abuse, wear/tear. Delta does have some cool features too and are quality thermoformers but that above point is the one that jumps out at me every time I see them and have had at least one dealer tell me they have issues there.

@@kevintunaley5079 It's not done yet and I'm gathering further intel by both paddling more of Delta's models and asking a few dealers their experiences/takes. Thanks for stirring up the conversation/project for me.

I am in central US, hard to get either brand due to lack of dealers close by, but I have one of each stored both at home and at second property up north. I love them all. Delta cockpit rim is molded in as integral part of deck, less aggressive, and needs a rand style spray skirt, better for longer trips because they hold more gear than Eddyline, and the Delta more often come in stock with a rudder, although mine are skeg only and they paddle and maneuver just fine. But, Eddyline boats are faster, and plastic used is stiffer. Hatch covers on both are among best in the industry at being reliable and keeping dry, as long as you keep them lubricated. You really can’t go wrong with either brand, it’s all up to personal preference, at 5’11” 205 I fit into the Skylark and Sitka LT and the Delta 14 & 16 equally as comfortable. Lots of paddlers in my area just take what they can order easily, since dealers are distant and you must be willing to travel a ways to get either one.
