You forgot mention that all comedy trailers have stupid pauses when a funny person tells a joke and then it pauses in like 3 seconds to tell a bad joke. Seriously, you can watch every bad comedy trailers and tell how many pauses that they done while they stop the music. Nobody will not understand even "Ghostbusters" trailer can't stand a chance while Leslie Jones slaps Melissa McCarthy in the face and pause it for like few seconds. Do you think it's funny? ...............Not really.

Quite a few times I've avoided watching films based on their trailers, because they made the film look so generic, tedious, cliched and uninteresting, and then later watched the film and found it was actually pretty good. These days I would say that film trailers are possibly the least influential factor for me when deciding if I can be bothered watching something. The director and/or screenwriter is probably the most influential.
@yarpen26
@yarpen26 8 жыл бұрын
+Buffoon1980 it's not always the same for me. first off, whenever i go to the cinema, which isn't very often, it's pretty much the only time i find out about new movies coming out and so the trailer is anything i can base my opinion of them on. even then, whether i'll go to see them or not depends on the reviews (i tend to dislike quite a few rather popular movies yet there's maybe a total of five that i thought were better than cirtics made them out to be). there's only a few exceptions to that, when i went to see the force awakens on the release day (but that's because i'm an SW fan). still, since most trailers are generic as hell, it's hard to make an opinion
@wellesradio
@wellesradio 8 жыл бұрын
+Buffoon1980 If I catch a trailer of a movie - from any era, really, I probably won't end up watching the movie. Featurettes, on the other hand, do the job quite well. I saw a featurette for Paolo Sorrentino's "Youth" and it really made me want to watch that movie. I mistakenly called it a trailer and when I typed that into the KZfaq search to share with someone, I saw the cliché trailer (neither of us was impressed). I'm sure had I seen that trailer first I would not have ended up watching the movie. Trailers suck!

The problem is, one movie trailer does something really well, so then every trailer has to do that same thing in order to recreate the success of the original. Just like movies themselves. Inception had the bwongs. Guardians had nostalgic music. Jurassic Park had the ominous thuds. The list goes on. In each one of these cases, you can point to a trailblazer that the others are just ripping off. I don't see why it's that shocking.

This is why trailers rarely excite me anymore. It's become such a formula that it's taken any actual personality of the film out of it. Not really surprising as it's just a few companies making these trailers and they just keep repeating what has worked in the past. Of course, it's also the same reason there are so few really good movies, anymore.

these videos can be done by 1 person and generate a video for the site, to make money they have to keep a certain amount of viewers for a series and be able to make them cheaply. just think whenever you watch one of these videos you are paying for after hours, obsessive pop culture disorder, the spit take, and today's topic. cracked is a business and they would want a certain amount of videos out per month making these videos means the writers and comedians can focus on other stuff and make it better without passing off the people paying them to meet a quota.

Andy Halucha That's like demanding a TV station change one show because it's not enough like the other shows on their channel. Cracked has a variety of video styles to appeal to different audiences. They've found one with this series, and while I can't speak for all of them, I can say for myself it's getting really annoying when people won't shut up about how much they don't like it. It would be like if I went on AMC's website and started bitching about how The Walking Dead isn't enough like Sons of Anarchy. The solution to your problem is simple: If you don't like the show, _stop fucking watching it_.

there's one thing that reallu bugs me about movie trailers, they always do this sorta thing where theres the opening shot, it's a wide shot with lots of space around it, like a field or an open road, then some action happens and it fades to black, it then resumes with music playing over dialog and then the music does some sort of suspencful wind sound effect like "sssssssSSSSSST!" then the music cuts and there's a shot of two characters making a joke, then the music resumes to more action, literally watch any kind of sci fi or comedy, animation trailer It always happens

you missed the nostalgia piano. Any new entry to an old series (or a reboot/remake of a beloved classic) will use a soft piano arrangement of the original film's memorable score. notice how the title in the video isn't the same as the video's title?

These are hows, not whys.Why are all movie trailers the same? Simple, it works. It gets butts in theater seats.These are all visual and audio shorthand, we all recognize them as cues, they trigger the desired feelings so we know what the movie is going to be about. Makes sense. they have a very short time to convince you to go see their film. Using tropes and cliches we're all familiar with and pre-conditioned to is just smart marketing. For example, Cracked frequently uses Buzzfeed style click-bait titles to draw people to their videos under false pretenses. See, it works.

+Leigha Chantrose First: I applaud that instead of complaining that the title is bad, you actually explained why it should be the other way around. But I wouldn't say so much as they are buzzfeeding their titles. The reason why Buzzfeed uses those titles is because it can draw attention, but honestly often they will have a title saying: 6 Lifehacks to Save Your Wallet and then show me a picture of cutting the top off of an empty soap bottle to use for spare change. While the titles do look similar on the cracked site, they often are relevant to the content. While I agree that this title may be off the mark, given in its whole, I would say they often do make relavant titles that draw in the views they need.

What about the "bwahhhhhh" sound used in trailers a lot? Ex: BVS Trailer

Excellent work, though the one I always notice is loud drums synced up with action or cuts. The Ultron trailers did this a lot, especially with cannon fire, and I've noticed it in most trailers since then.

Yep, they'll make different videos, but only if you stop watching. If you watch, the videos will be the same. Prove me wrong.

Oh my God, the slowed-down covers is so right! I just saw a new trailer for a new horror film coming out in September, and it was a slowed-down cover of Every Step You Take by the Police as the soundtrack.

+Rami Ungar THats the Forest, or whatever the hell its called, right? I know that's not the title, but I can't be bothered to look up something that is purported to be the most amazingly amazing horror movie ever, even though it looks like every horror movie in a forest ever made.

Kyle Brand No, this is The Woods. The Forest is a lame attempt at making a horror movie out of a famously haunted forest in Japan.

+Rami Ungar I knew it wasn't the Forest, but after reading the hype, then seeing the trailer, I honestly didn't want to waste time looking up the actual name of the movie.
