Yet Dermalogica doesn't tell you to use it this way. I had a bottle of this stuff years ago and I remember it telling you to do what you just said was the wrong way (except you lather up the product more before applying it onto your skin). It's supposed to be an exfoliant, not a whipped foam. Here are the directions for this product from Dermalogica's own website: "Dispense about a half-teaspoon of Daily Microfoliant® into very wet hands and create a creamy paste by rubbing hands together. Apply to face in circular motions, avoiding the eye area. Massage gently for one minute, then rinse thoroughly. Follow with Multi-Active Toner or UltraCalming Mist and prescribed Dermalogica Moisturizer." So, no wonder people don't put it into a bowl and use a fan brush to whip it up; the company itself never said to use it that way. So how would people know otherwise?

@@dallasoch4040 the OP comment said it did, and honestly i would avoid the eye area with any products that arent specifically made for it just cause the eye skin is such a sensitive area. Ive also heard you can get “milia” around your eye from using products not meant for that area which arent harmful but they basically look like little pimples next to your eyes and they stay there for like, months and months. I have gotten them before from using non-eye specific moisturizer and i thought i was gonna have them for life until they just went away one day

Hmmm idk. I like using it the first way because it actually scrubs away dead skin, flakes, and old acne scabs and leaves my skin soft and smooth. If I were to make it a foam like this it probably wouldn’t have the texture necessary to scrub like that.

You're absolutely right! In fact, you are using it the way Dermalogica intended; apply half a teaspoon to wet hands, lather then apply to face in circular motions. No one is applying it straight to their face anyways; should lather it into a paste in your hands before applying. I think the only people applying it straight to their face haven't read the instructions or assume it works like a liquid cleanser or something 😅

Info from the dermalogica website: « how to use it? After double cleaning, every 2/3 days (or even once a week for sensitive skin), pour a teaspoon of Daily Microfoliant into the palm of previously moistened hands. Add a little water and lather by rubbing your hands against each other to obtain a fine foam with few grains. Apply to the face with circular movements, avoiding the eye area. Massage gently for a minute, then rinse thoroughly with warm water. Continue with a tonic, a targeted care/serum and a Dermalogica moisturizer recommended for your skin type. « so be careful not to use it on and around the eyes!!! In addition, no need for a bowl in the palm of the hand, it’s very good too since it’s a chemical AND mechanical scrub 😊

Dermalogica is the only skincare brand that's worked for my sensitive skin. Every time I try something else it's always too harsh or heavy/oily.

I use it with my oil cleanser, massage it in and leave it on while I'm in the shower or brushing teeth. Then runse it off. That works for me. Will have to check out the instructions now. No one ever told me to use it this way.

I thought it was less abrasive than any other exfoliant I've used. Sorry it wasn't that way for you. I know Juice Beauty has (or had) a spray exfoliant that wasn't abrasive at all. It had other things my skin hated, but I've got decently sensitive skin, so maybe it won't be the same for you. Could be worth a shot maybe?

@@laurenrenfro8288 i used it as a ‘more is better’ method and just added water and used it in the shower as a scrub. The lather ing technique seems far less abrasivep

I know, right! Dermalogica advises you to apply half a teaspoon to wet hands, lather then apply to face in circular motions. How are people using it wrong when it was never intended to be whipped up into a foam?

I don't think they're obsessed with it - I think they have a contract and want to sell as much product as they can. There are comparable things on the market.

What would those be? This is the only exfoliant that's worked for me, as in not been too harsh. But if there's something comparable that's cheaper I wouldn't say no to saving money. 😂

Ahhh… 🥰 Do I love cleansers like the one you just showed us in your video! The rice based ones are my favourites, like the ❤ Rice Bran Powder Wash ❤ from House of Dohwa and Sioris My Soft Grains. The rice is a natural source of kojic acid, so it’s probably one of the main reasons as for why I always feel like my skin is soft to the touch and brighter, more even looking after I use House of Dohwas iconic rice products. ✨🧖🏻‍♀️✨ Another favourite of mine is the enzyme powder cleanser; Australian Sand&Sky have their awesome Australian Emu Apple Enzyme Powder Wash (great if you want some natural vitamin Cfrom Australian fruits, etc) and By Wishtrend have their Green Tea & Enzyme Powder Wash, which really smells like green tea and is a really joyful experience to use. I can honestly recommend both of them! I highly recommend all four of these powder washes and they all get a 5 out of 5 from me. ❤ ✨✨✨✨✨ House of Dohwa is definitely one of my new go to brands, tiger with Neogen and Beauty of Joeson

Thanks for the video. I put the powder or in my hand and at some water. I then rub it over my face. Yes, it was grainy. I didn’t realize it was supposed to foam up. When I get my facials, I realize, after watching your video, that the microfoliant feels foamy. I thought it was a different product.

Granted, I never turned it into a mask, but I still couldn't get all the exfoliating particles to completely dissolve so it always felt too abrasive for me 😢 I enjoyed it well enough at the time, but I had to use it once a week, if that.
