Yeah sunlight damages the lenses because it's like a magnifying glass and it causes burn marks on the screen inside the headset

I actually hate that I know I should return it. I want to believe Apple or some third party will fix my issues with the Vision Pro but I feel like with as slow as Apple moves it will be some time before the solutions come about.

I appreciate you so much David! You work so hard! Going to the beach to film so you can make the video more entertaining for us! And that signature laugh at 2:05 !!! Puts a smile on my face. I was one of those people who couldn’t imagine a realistic use case other than entertainment. Secondly, you spend a lot of money so you can try stuff we would like to know about but can’t afford to. Props man. Appreciate you so much.

@@DavidManningvlog - I think that was a good call for a few reasons. One quick one: review videos aren't getting views. Seems trivial until you realize that if you can make a few videos and it pays for the device, it's a smart business expense. I'm a software developer who can program for this thing, use it for work and review it on YT and I'm still thinking I should return it. 🤦‍♂

Before I watch, I think it’s because the os and apps aren’t ready for full spacial computing, at lest not enough to justify the price tag. If it was a laptop/desktop replacement then maybe, but currently it’s just not there yet.

As a content creator have you actually explored the immersive video and photo capture capabilities. Here’s an idea, film your kids using  Vision Pro in immersive 4K and then have your parents watch it with the VP. Also, Film someone that you truly cherish whom does not have long to be on this mortal coil, then watch them through the VP and ask yourself, what will this mean to you when they are gone… We took possession of our  Vision Pro days after launch. I wish they had released it at least a month earlier. Having bought the 1TB version plus Care, then upon picking it up at the Store added the case, extra battery, and another light mask and seal to the order, we definitely spent more than intended or we would have liked. However we absolutely have not regretted it. It’s basically an iPad that can use all the apps available on iPadOS or iOS. It has Mac Virtual Display, industry leading Optical ID with Dynamic Micro OLED lenticular Display System for uniquely immersive content consumption and personalized private interactive use… ZERO regrets… 🤔

I actually enjoy editing on a laptop. I do remember the days of recording in VHS, then going to a computer lab and transferring that video to Digital 8, then transferring that video to iMovie all at 1X speed. I think of that when I'm editing in Final Cut Pro on my MacBook Pro now and how easy and cool it is.

Hahaha Now that’s a nightmare of a process!!! The worst I ever had it was filming to mini DV and then live capturing that footage into movie maker on my giant HP laptop with both fans screaming to keep the laptop from overheating🤣

Digita8 was such a groundbreaking technology. I still remember cringing and the utter despair if you had to make a copy of a copy... or, heaven forbid, a copy of a copy of a copy when editing vhs. 😢

You tried to make it work, but it did not meet your expectations. I appreciate your efforts. From my observation of others, those who decided to keep the Vision Pro because it did meet their workflow. One photographer needed a portable monitor for his van life and was pleased with his, while another kept it for his 3D movie consumption. Everyone has a unique use case, and if the HMD fits that need, it is worth the price to be kept.

Honestly, the concept is pretty nice, and setting aside my distain for Apple, i would say the price is absolutely too much. for 5000€ i could build a PC with pretty much the best hardware possible (at least considering consumer hardware, including peripherals) and that's nowhere near anything reasonable. As a consumer, anything beyond 1000€ would be too much for me to even consider it, but since the technology is currently in it's developpment (and thus not nescessarily being intended for a broad consumer base yet), i could understand it to be more expensive, but more than 2000€ would still be inappropriate. And absolutely, response time and precision would be some major issues to work on. But i assume Apple thought they shouldnt release a too complete product to have some headroom left in future, since the first launch will set the expectations for the next years. If it was flawless already, the consumers would expect it to basically do magic in the next 5 years. But again, that still would rely on a price being appropriate to the imperfect tech, ofc.

I think this is the thing with VR in general. It's really cool, but outside of media and playing games, it's not particularly useful. Kudos to Apple for making the best one ever, but VR is still a hammer looking for a nail

7:16 says it all about the dangers we should be thinking about doesn’t it? It’s so immersive it is human relationships are now second best. Then yet so addictive that you don’t even see that as an issue in why you return it. Only because it’s slow and a bit fiddly. (Don’t take this the wrong way I’m not trying to attack you or your wife I’m just making a point about the dangers )

Rick n morty fan! Yeah! Love the halloween photos. Ypu did sound a bit dissapointed at the end when u said returning...and excited when u wanted to keep it. I guess, for now...is just an entertainment system, not a for work device. And with that, we can find and answer to keep it or return it ✌️

I think Apple should have sold these as Development Kits to developers. Or if you already have an app which has grossed above a certainly level, *given* them to developers. Without Vision Pro optimised apps, they don't have a new platform. Meanwhile Apple continue to nickle-and-dime every developer for as much as possible, reject apps for spurious reasons. Anything to get their pound of flesh. So short-sighted. 😢

What’s kind of lame is that you bought it knowing that it was going to be the worst version of it, and even made a whole video about that, and then how it showed you a glimpse of the future and what it could be, and now you’re returning it, without being part of the user community that helps develop it. It sounds a lot like you bought it to review it for your channel and would now rather have the $4500 back in your pocket.

David, as a blind visual content creator, I am thankful to you. But, in the recent months, you are pumping a lot of Chinese products and constantly criticising western products. Taking in consideration what is happening, I took a decision to buy as minimal amount of Chinese products as possible. So, this dump, on Apple is the end point for me, following your channel. Thank you for everything before starting to support Chinese products endlessly.

I can’t help you on that decision but as someone that never bought one and someone that never will (because of wearing glasses), I would have to say return it. Something I have seen, that is being created by 2 former Apple employees is a pin that is a projector and you can see the screen when you put your hand in front of the pin. I can definitely see the pros and cons of that but that seems more useful than an entire headset.

If you get a chance to, you can book a demo of the Apple Vision Pro at an Apple Store. I think it’s about a 20-25 minute demo and would be totally worth the time to get a view of what it’s like in the headset. It’s so hard to explain from a 2D video how cool that dang setup is!
