In this episode of the Gear and Beer Show, we're taking a closer look at Howa, a Japanese firearms company that's been producing high-quality rifles since 1907. Known for their accuracy, reliability, and value, Howa rifles are a popular choice among hunters, target shooters, and tactical shooters alike.
Today’s rifle weighing 4.5 lbs is a lightweight and compact option that's perfect for hunting and other outdoor activities. Despite its light weight, it still offers the precision and reliability that Howa rifles are known for. This rifle is easy to carry and maneuver, making it an ideal choice for those who need to cover a lot of ground or who prefer a lighter firearm.
As we learn more about Howa and their rifles, we'll also be enjoying some delicious beers that pair perfectly with the gear we're reviewing. So grab a cold one and join us as we explore the world of Howa rifles on the Gear and Beer Show!
Just like you and your buddies have good conversations over a beer, here we have three guys sitting on a couch enjoying a beer while talking about why you should buy a Howa Rifles! Cheers!

Great Video Guys. First time on your channel and I've now subscribed. Now, I have two Howa's. One is the 9 lb bull barreled muti-cam 6.5 Crd. The other is the 6 lb 7.62x39 mini action. Both have never, ever had a ftf or fte. The mag on the mini drops free every time. Maybe I just got lucky, but I've recommended Howa's to everyone in my circle because of my great experiences. Also, if you need a light, quick handling rifle for deer in timber, (100 yards or less) the 7.62x39 mini action is something you really need to check out!!! Keep it up!

I used to like HOWA until I owned one of their rifles. The first one didn’t meet their accuracy guarantee. It took them so long to test it that they didn't even make that model rifle anymore when they wanted to send me a replacement. We agreed on a different gun as a replacement and they sent me the wrong gun. The original gun was a 308 with a semi-heavy barrel. We agreed on a 6.5 Creedmoor with a semi-heavy barrel and they sent me a 6.5 Creedmoor with a sporter barrel 4" shorter than what we agreed on. They told me what they had told me they were going to send me didn't exist so they sent what they deemed to be "equivalent". I didn't accept the gun at the FFL. We agreed on a different gun and when they sent me the right gun there was a huge burr on one of the bolt lug recesses and one of the bolt lugs was getting shots 2% contact as a result. I sent that turd back to them and they said they needed to replace the barrelled action and it would be a 6 month wait. I asked for my money back and thankfully they agreed. I bought a Tikka with the refund and had 0 issues. In fact, I had the most accurate rifle I’d ever owned.

@@studio515productions Lol. I guess so. I was shooting it last weekend and when I overlay all 26 shots from all the groups based on each group's point of aim, I get a group that is 2/3 MOA center-to-center. I shot 7 3-shot groups which averaged 0.37 MOA and one 5-shot group that was 0.36 MOA. Anyway, my Tikka CTR is an absolute laser beam.

Got a 6.5 grendel mini action, 243 & a 375 ruger . All 3 are fantastic & very good shooters. The 243 has done a .440" 5 shot group with the barrel touching the whole left hand side of the stock . Nothing for it to put 3 rnds in cloverleaf more offten then not . So i've just left it how it is ( barrel touching) had a 204 ruger also & it too was a laser beam . Fantastic value rifles IMO. Wating for the 6 arc mini action to come out.

I must have bought one of the most inaccurate howa mini's around. 1 1/2 to 3"s at 100 yards. I have fully bedded the action. Glued a strip of 1/4" thick mycarta that was shaped to fit in the barrel channel. Checked the rear of the bolt lugs by putting felt pen ink on them. Ink come off both sides completely. Have ordered a 2lb spring kit because the trigger break was about 4lb. Ordering an AP raptor tuner and a barrel forward warbird suppressor. So we will see what improvement it makes. Then I will decide whether to re stock it or rebarrel it. Ammo I used was hornady custom.

I have a whole slew of em from the 223 to the 30/06 and I honestly don't have a favorite. This I can say is that these rifles are very accurate with fire formed brass. They've all been single jagged hole groups with my handloaded ammo without exception. I have a 243 soft belly tan hogue stock that doesn't care if it's a Remington 100 gr. Core Lok or a 100 gr. Power Point, as it will poke all three in a hole everytime I do my part right. This gun doesn't need reloading for! I still save all that brass for the future. It's been my experience with all the calibers I own to take about 50 rounds fired to smooth the imperfections in the bore before you start getting the bullets acting like they're supposed to. Another way of looking at it is that shooting some rounds is the same thing as hand lapping the bore. As for my beloved 30/06, its got a soft belly green hogue stock and it is a one hole grouper also, but not with factory ammunition. It will poke 3 rounds of 150 grain winchester power points in a triangle of a measured 3/4 in. P.S. I always wait 20 minutes between shots to let these skinny barreled guns time to retract from the heat. This is the hardest part of accuracy testing, but when you're hunting, you'll have all the confidence in the world.

@Studio 515 Productions My 2 Weatherby Vanguards are both in 300 win mag. One is an older wooden stock and the other is a composite stock. Both of these rifles have the 2 position safety and a crisp single stage trigger. My composite stock is totally camouflaged, scope and all, and is also a single jagged hole at 100 yards as well as the wooden one with my handloaded ammo. Both of these rifles will indeed shoot inside of an inch with factory ammunition from winchester and Remington as long as it's the 180 grain . The only difference between a Howa and a Weatherby Vanguard is the stampings on the barrels and the cover on the bolt,- on the back of the Weatherby. I've handloaded them there 300s with the same ingredients, just different cartridge overall lengths for single jagged hole groups at 100 yards firing 180 grain Sierra Game Kings at 3160 fps .

i owned a 30.06 and 270 win bbr by browning. i think they were made by howa in 1980 for browning. after bedding the action and using my handloads the accuracy was astounding. the stocks had great lines but were prone to severe warping. the bolts were 9 lugs and fluted and would open and close by shaking the gun hands off the bolt handle. sadly they were both stolen and if i ever catch the bastard he's dead.

Stop telling people to hunt elk with a 6.5cm. I don't understand what is wrong with you guys today? Why shoot the smallest possible round and go after huge animals. Learn to shoot a man's round. Like a 300prc or at minimum 6.5prc. the animals deserve better. I agree. I keep hearing how the 6.5 needsmore (😅) is an elk slayer. I don’t know how many market hyped claims I’ve heard in 53 years of hunting. It’s almost like people outsource their thinking to the herd. I have 2 needsmores and love them for what they are. But now with clowns bragging about 700 yard shots on game you’d need a helluva lot more horsepower than even a 7 mag. You have to be careful how a nitwit might think he hears an expert claim something and treat it like Moses coming down the mountain with stone tablets. 🙄🤓

Your magazine ejection problems and your feeding problems are caused by poorly designed/implemented inletting of the trigger guard. I had this same issue with my Super Lite. I fixed it myself by carefully removing some material from the rear trigger guard screw, although this can cause the magazine to be hard to eject without removing additional material from the front edge of the magazine well. I really wish the trigger guard was aluminum!

6.5CM is plenty for under 300 yards If you're handloading 140gr Accubonds, Partitions or TTSX bullets on broadside shots. I WOULDN'T take any shot longer than that on a heavy boned animal that is as tough as an elk that likes to run with a .264 caliber bullet. That's just my personal, and ethical choice though. A .284 or .30cal I'd stretch that to 400 max. If bowhunters can get inside 100 yards, there's no reason why a rifle hunter can't get inside 200, terrain depending. Moose I wouldn't hesitate to take with my 6.5cm and my handloads inside of 300, because follow up shots can be taken quickly and they won't typically run far with a vital hit.
