The Austin Powers film series didn’t just showcase the full range of Mike Myers’ comedic talents, but it introduced the world to some great quotes. Who could forget “Oh, behave!” “Yeah, baby Yeah!” or “Get in my belly?"
Knowing Austin Powers had a huge cultural following, great comedic characters, and the potential to make producers and studios a lot of money, why hasn’t a fourth movie come out yet?
Hollywood is a fickle town and there are a lot of pieces that go into getting a movie made. Here is the real reason we never got to see Austin Powers 4.

Klaww Gang Don't understand people's dislike of No. 3. It's just as funny as 1 and 2 and pointing out that it had mixed reviews is pointless, as No. 2 got the same treatment. Would I want to see a 4th movie? After all this time, probably not - The Austin Powers franchise was a long long time ago and I don't think it would work now. When they make comedy sequels years after it was a thing, it usually doesn't work!

I was born in '98. International Man of Mystery came out in '97. I had the honour of growing up with these films, watching it as far back as I could remember. As soon as I was old enough to sit through a whole movie and actually pay attention to it I was plopped in front of Austin Powers. I re-watch the trilogy every couple years as well. They will always be my favourite movies ever. It breaks my heart to know that Goldmember didn't do well. Personally I thought it definitely did stand up well with the other two films. So much so that out of the 3 I have no one favourite. They are all my favourite. Fook Yu for thinking it wasn't good.

Okay I'm going to probably come off like a total a-hole but I'm assuming Mindy did writing for Austin Powers cuz I definitely didn't see her in Austin Powers. There's so many good people they could get to be various characters in the next one it's ridiculous. Though we should all be cautious looking at how Zoolander 2 turned out, I mean I'm sure there was some attempts at trying to do something new and fresh but sometimes you get Anchorman 2 and sometimes you get Zoolander 2. I'd like to think this would be more Anchorman 2 but considering the time that's gone by it'll probably lean more toward Zoolander 2.

I think Austin Powers 4 should reflect on an older retired Austin. Coming out of retirement to fight a new threat along with Dr. Evil by his side. Since they turned out to be brothers. Except Dr. Evil is conflicted the whole time trying to be good. The ending of 3 showing Scott Evil being bald and taking on the mantel. Could be refilmed showing Dr. Evil coming in and slapping Scott on the back of the head saying. "What are you doing? Get over here and be good now." Scott would say "Yes sir, I'm sorry" and that would end the whole Scott turned bad ending. To leave room for the new baddie of the series.

@JohnDoe-wq5eu
@JohnDoe-wq5eu 4 жыл бұрын
@@richard6088 I mean there's "good dated" and "bad dated" a lot of stuff from the late 90's and early 00's (for the most part movies and TV shows) just do not hold up in the modern age. I mean some jokes still land they're still pretty funny but some things are timeless. Whereas other things like certain songs/types of music certain things that have not held up nearly as well just drag things down. I can still watch things like really old episodes of The Simpsons and then still enjoy them whereas other shows are just painfully now. A lot of elements in the Austin Powers trilogy still hold up unfortunately by the third movie they started injecting things that have aged so very poorly. The amount of references to outdated stupid stuff that is no longer relevant (and that was the whole point of the joke at the time) are to numerous to count. The unfortunate thing is considering how 99.9% of the reboots have gone thus far they should just please stop while they are ahead.

@JohnDoe-wq5eu
@JohnDoe-wq5eu 6 жыл бұрын
Jay K. Weatherface Yes but using those as references what chance does it have of being any good?! I mean I think most people can admit that Zoolander 2 was God awful. With so many things it's like Magic you get the right cast the right script just something comes together and wow amazing. But long after the fact you can come out with something that tries to capture that same magic in a bottle and all you get is an absolute freaking mess. It's happening way more often then you get a successful even Anchorman 2 level success after years without a sequel. If it happens when it happens people should just keep their expectations well in check, you never know you may just get lucky.

Now coming for 2029. Austin Powers 4! After 25 years of a promised new film, Mike Myers dies and 5 days later the studio throws together a reboot with an all transgendered African-American cast, where a woman from 1999 has difficulty adjusting to a post-free speech world. The trailer looks like total shit, but anybody that doesn't find it hilarious is a trans-phobic, sexist and racist troll who is going to prison for hate speech.

Still vividly remember watching International Man of Mystery for the first time at a party when I was eight; it had just been released on VHS. Dropping an insufferable number of Austin Powers quotes and being powerless to resist men with cheek moles have since become integral parts of my personality 😅 A fourth one could be great and I’d so love to see Mike Myers make a successful comeback, though I fear too much time has passed and it would end up being a cringey mess. The trilogy is perfect as is anyway!

I personally enjoyed Gold member. The only thing that bothers me about the film is they never say what happens to Felicity. The 2nd one was my favorite

I watched all 3 recently, and though the third doesn't have as many action beats, I like the strained relationship plot with his father, and its just as funny as the previous two. The casting of Michael Caine was perfect. I think a fourth movie should be about a retiring Austin Powers trying to parent his own kid who has travelled through time to find him, and is also a secret agent tasked with taking Dr Evil back to the 1960's to go on trial for his evil crimes. (But of course Powers is trying to protect him, as his brother) Scott Evil is now a fully fledged bad guy and is attempting to take over the world and Dr Evil will eventually turn back to his evil ways (obviously) and wants to reconnect with his son. I think it'll be good for the film to grow older with its audience. Austin Powers isn't going to be a sex mad, swinging, hands on secret agent anymore, but he has the wisdom to pass down, it could be about him having to come out of retirement and realising that he never settled in the future and deciding to go home to the past to be a real father, with the original Mrs Kensington (who could know be played by Liz Hurley) Sounds a bit deep, but it'll still have the repetitive jokes and the silliness with it ending with Dr Evil being a bad guy again. Or something like that.... I can't believe I typed all this shit

Nathan Jones right. If you make too many movies in a franchise it can start to run out of freshness and originality and get old. They'd have to make sure its something really new.

Melanie G Whoa whoa whoa. Toy story 3 was awesome (and an animated kids movie so it kind of doesn't fit in this conversation but) most people thought it was a great way to end the trilogy and it brought a lot of originality but even the second film was lacking yes it had some dark stuff but a lot of Disney films have that this on the other hand is a series that by the third film had been pretty much pounded into the ground and was filled with so many (now horribly) dated references that it's almost too painful to watch it now nostalgic though it may be. I do agree though this, much like Toy Story should not have a fourth film, a fourth film would only drag down both these series all for just some of that filthy money rung from people's nostalgia.

Just revisted the first two movies. Had not watched in 20 years. I laughed so hard. Mike Meyers is a physical comedy genious. I wish he would make a Part 4 movie. Either way he has had a remarkable career, and is worth $200 million bucks. I'd say he's done very well! :)

"Spank Me or Leave Me" One is the Loneliest Number" "The Last Shag" "Hipsters Last Stand" "Life is a Pipe Dream!" "For the Love of Nought" "The Shag Master meets the Vibrator" "All the Beautify Colors of Weed" 'Disco Hippie meets Undercover Brother" And finally, "Mr. Powers: The spy that got cut down to size!"
